Like small kids, under 10. No, just... no.
YABU = You bloody love a mullet on a small child. Looks great!
YANBU = You agree that a mullet is a monstrosity, particularly on a small child.

A natural toddler mullet where hair has just grown like that is hilarious and cute, but nothing older than that.
They are absolutely hideous.

I thought skin fades and perm on top was the fashion these days

That is in no way a mullet!

Beth216 · 26/08/2024 19:14

What next, shell suits?

Wouldn't surprise me. Double denim came back!

I think 55+ should reclaim them, fastest way to put teenagers off..🤣
one of my customers and his brother have them..early 30s..

PeachRose1986 · 26/08/2024 19:30

Entirely up to them. My 17 year old had one for a while as did my nephew, both looked great.

There is a boy of 8-9 years old in DS’ basketball class who has a very obvious mullet - I’ve overheard other parents commenting about how it looks and it’s not complimentary.

Adults are critising the appearance of an 8-9 year old? Where they can be overheard?

Nasty bullies is what they are.

Its hair. It's not a style I particularly like, but all that means is I don't have my hair like that. Other people can wear their hair however they like. For all I know, they don't like my hair.

But judging others for their hairstyle?? That shows the nastiness of the people making the comments and that's something I would judge.

Mullets suck in general but still

Love supernatural 😊

Feckedupbundle · 26/08/2024 19:49

They are very fashionable with the young farmers around here.
Dd1's boyfriend ( not a farmer) has one,his hair is naturally curly,so he's had it cut very short at the sides and it is long on top/ back.
It suits him.
I don't care how people wear their hair, that's their business.

already back, at least the shell suit zip up tops are. popular with hipster students where I live.

Patienceisntvirtuous · 26/08/2024 20:04

I like them
But I'm a lesbian. They're something different among us I think Grin

LoobyDoop2 · 26/08/2024 20:12

Mullets are no better or worse than the “dead rat on head” style that seems to be very popular among teenager boys. They all have terrible taste in hair, anyway.

I thought they were a fire risk? I'm pretty sure there were some very nasty/ painful injuries from shellies.

Why would they be more of a fire risk than the man-made fabrics lots of people wear from Shein etc.? They were polyester, but so are lots of clothes.

@AngryLikeHades glad to see this comment. My 18 month old has a natural mullet - it’s hilarious but also we cannot bring ourselves to have the longer baby curls at the back cut off 😬😭

Mammyloveswine · 26/08/2024 22:10

I almost cried when my lovely nephew appeared with a mullet and tache... then realised I was now "old" and need to just let him be!

As for my own kids, absolutely not. 🤣

veritasverity · 26/08/2024 22:27

Tarantino I think they were made from a nylon mix fabric, so caught alight more quickly and melted on to the skin.... I'll have a google, because I can't quite remember, I just remember a consumer program (maybe 'That's life'? doing a program on them, and showing horrific burns, made more difficult to clean and carry out skingraphs due to the fabric melting into the burn.

Thehobbit2013 · 26/08/2024 22:28

depends on the age of the under 10. Age four no clearly parent inflicting on them. Age nine then it’s more likely the child’s wish. If you can’t have ridiculous haircuts when young when can you

ladycardamom · 26/08/2024 22:44

I'm struggling to care tbh.

But why is it “inflicting” it in on them. You could say the same about short back and sides. Personally I think short back and sides looks awful on little boys.

DiscoBeat · 26/08/2024 23:11

Nope, mullets belong in rivers, not on heads!
