Horrible comments in the sun

I was reading The Sun and this came up. I'm a mum to 2 lovely teens with autism who can't work but would love to. He then calls mentally ill people doolally which upset me - a dear friend has bipolar and is the kindest woman I know. And on the same week that cricketer took his own life (I forget his name). The disabled bashing is horrible, I already worry for my two and cried when I read people don't think their sick. Is this legal?

Rod Liddle is notoriously disgusting, a bit of a bargain basement Boris Johnson. Nobody needs take any notice of what he says. We’d all be a lot better off if he stopped working.

Why are you surprised that the Sun is printing this shite? The figures used have been extensively debunked, but the Tory leaning tabloids still use them. They include people who are retired and not claiming benefits, people who are in full time education, carers and the disabled. The real figure is much, much lower.

Tabloids are like this. They have an audience, they write for that audience.

I was shocked by the language used. I don't think it's appropriate. It's awful.

These writers produce inflammatory articles which aim to provoke a response! They are not thoughtful and considered pieces of writing. Just as you would a racist, ableist, discriminatory, bigoted person (projecting their inadequacies onto already marginalised groups) just don’t waste any brain power on this. One of the things I love about my autistic DS is that he relates to people without assumptions and prejudice and I am confident he will never be writing bigoted articles for the Sun newspaper!

I thought we had very low unemployment. How can no one be working if we have low unemployment?

It's not just that. It's the assumption all these people are lying about being sick. Believe me, my lads would love to work!! And calling mentally ill people doolally. I think that's really horrible especially when it's known mental illness is real.

The Sun is notorious for its basic right wing dog whistle thinking, vulgarity, populism, inaccuracy and downright lies. Surprised you are surprised it mocks people. In some areas of the country the newsagents won't even stock it.
