What can I do about this?! Neighbour issue

Im in need of some help I don’t really know what steps to take next. Starting beginning of this year ive been noticing dog poo outside my house every 2 weeks or so. Then dog poo inside my drive, like all the way in, and now dog poo intentionally right at my front door even on the bottom of the door. It’s driving DH insane his stepped on it a few times at night. his been insisting on cameras but landlord is refusing to allow it. It looks as if it’s intentionally placed outside our house and I’m really not sure why. Does anyone have any advice on what to do or have experienced similar? Is it a criminal offence can I file a complaint? I’ve watched neighbours walking their dogs around our area quite a few times and they always pick it up. Live in an area that’s quite secluded it couldn’t possible be someone that’s not part of the drive area. Thanks in advance.
posting in aibu for more traffic sorry 🙁

Could it be fox poo?

Tygertiger · 13/08/2024 23:07

Is it definitely dog poo? No chance it could be fox poo?

TheFlis · 13/08/2024 23:07

Why do you need the landlords permission for a camera?

YesThatsATurdOnTheRug · 13/08/2024 23:08

Just get a battery powered ring doorbell and attach it with some of that sticky Velcro or something.

pinkstripeycat · 13/08/2024 23:08

We have cameras inside our house but they face the driveway. Landlord permission not needed if they aren’t permanent

Quitelikeit · 13/08/2024 23:08

It seems strange that someone would do this deliberately- amd strange that a dog would target your garden specifically every day

Notmushroomforthis · 13/08/2024 23:09

Get a ring type doorbell that sticks to the door frame without screws.

HavingABitOfAMare · 13/08/2024 23:09

Ask your neighbours opposite and nextdoor if they have cameras.

Very strange of your landlord though, are they aware you're not asking them to pay for the camera?

Sockmate123 · 13/08/2024 23:09

Odd that it's on the bottom of the door, sounds like it's placed..
Could you get some kind of portable camera that you could put in an upstairs bedroom maybe that landlord wouldn't know about?

I'd have to do something like that if it was me. Could be a fox too but you won't know without proof!

Zoraflora · 13/08/2024 23:09

How awful.
Is there anthing you could use to deter the dog from going there like a plant or lavender oil?

Could you set up a motion sensor light, this might put animal off.

TiredTilly · 13/08/2024 23:18

Thank you soo much for your replies. I’ve lived here for 7 years and have never seen a fox , I had to google fox poo, it’s definitely dog poo. We’ve also had 2 cars scratched in this short period aswell. One car was scratched soo bad like someone scribbling up and down, the other car was zigzag scratched soo deep. I don’t know much about dogs I’ll have a look at some repellents. Do you guys know what works best?
thanks again everyone

I don’t really want to think this or even mention it but me and my husband stick out in this neighbourhood. We are not of the main demographic. I don’t want to believe this is the reason 😞 it hurts.

none of the neighbours opposite have cameras or even door bell ring. I think we are all with the same agency.

Why do you need permission for cameras? Just put up battery operated cameras. Your landlord doesn’t get to say yes or no to that. You can do what you like with temporary fixings.

Sockmate123 · 13/08/2024 23:23

The scraped cars makes it seem more suspicious now. Definitely get some kind of camera...

Oh wow, OP, I'm sorry, that's awful. If you think this is some sort of racist thing I would absolutely get cameras (ones that don't just save to an SD card that can be removed from them!). I would also be reporting every single incidence to the police, including the cars. 💐

I think it’s more of not being allowed to make any changes or ruin anything. We aren’t even allowed to install safety locks for the upstairs windows because it will ‘ruin the pvc’😒. I’ll have a look into the Velcro that was suggested.
thanks guys

Oh no Sad
In this case I would say you could speak to the police, if it is targeted that is very serious and you shouldn't have to put up with it.

You can get a camera and stand it in the front window.

Thank you soo much. I didn’t think of reporting the scratched cars to police. I’ll be taking pictures of everything now it’s become too much. I really didn’t want to believe that is the reason, but deep down in my heart I think so🙁. We’ve had quite a few neighbours moved out and some new ones in.

Thank you everybody. When I sort the camera situation out and if I have found the person that is doing this what do I do next ?
just hand it over to the police?

Yes, but don't jump the gun.

Just concentrate on getting and setting up the free standing cameras for now.

MooseBeTimeForSnow · 13/08/2024 23:40

Do you have a hedge or bush to the side of the path that you could hide a trail camera in?
