Im in need of some help I don’t really know what steps to take next. Starting beginning of this year ive been noticing dog poo outside my house every 2 weeks or so. Then dog poo inside my drive, like all the way in, and now dog poo intentionally right at my front door even on the bottom of the door. It’s driving DH insane his stepped on it a few times at night. his been insisting on cameras but landlord is refusing to allow it. It looks as if it’s intentionally placed outside our house and I’m really not sure why. Does anyone have any advice on what to do or have experienced similar? Is it a criminal offence can I file a complaint? I’ve watched neighbours walking their dogs around our area quite a few times and they always pick it up. Live in an area that’s quite secluded it couldn’t possible be someone that’s not part of the drive area. Thanks in advance.
posting in aibu for more traffic sorry 🙁

Do you have a hedge or bush to the side of the path that you could hide a trail camera in?

Nothing green just all slabs x

Absolutely disgusting. I'm so sorry you have been dealing with this and the car damage. Please do get a camera set up and in the meantime get in touch with the police and log every incident with them. Hopefully the camera will catch a good image of whoever is behind this and you can pass that to the police too. Could you get a motion sensitive light set up on your drive also?

LibertyPrime · 13/08/2024 23:51

@TiredTilly you could use a ring door bell type camera ?

FourOfDiamonds · 13/08/2024 23:53

Do you have a car on the driveway? Could you put a battery camera on the dashboard pointing at your front door? Sorry this is happening to you OP x

Daltonbear1 · 14/08/2024 00:02

Get a ring doorbell all you need is to put it up it gets taken off to charge every so often it's only fixed with screws and your landlord won't give a shit about a bloody doorbell . Don't get the wired version get the battery version

Thank you. I will call the non emergency number tomorrow and tell them about what’s been happening. I’m also going to call the agency tomorrow and tell them something needs to be done in regard to setting up some sort of camera or lights for our safety xx

This is horrible, sorry to hear you’re being targeted in this way. It sounds very unsettling 😕

Yes both the cars are on the driveway which is almost behind the house face the wall it wouldn’t be facing the front door. Seeing dog poo all the way in the drive made me believe it was definitely placed there. The driveway is completely away from the pavement. xx

really wanting to move but I live next to DS special school and DH hospital, I don’t think I would be lucky enough to find somewhere close to both locations. But if it gets worse I think I will have to.
thank you hun x

We have ip cameras from our windows pointing outside. We have to turn off the night vision setting because with it behind behind the glass they reflect and make it impossible to see what is happening. Out the front its not an issue because there's enough streetlights to light up what's needed to be seen but out the back it's a real issue. We've sort of solved little bit of part of it by using solar security lights that light up just the back doorway as much as possible but I think we might need to add a security light nearer the winter.

We pay 80 a year and get 15 day back up of recording to the cloud for all 5 cameras (2 out the front windows (one pointing one each direction) and three out the back windows)

Blink282 · 14/08/2024 01:57

Oh OP. I’m so sorry this is happening. I would second the idea of a camera or doorbell with temporary fixings. I would also keepa log of everything that happens, in case you do need to involve the police, with dates and photos wherever possible.

loopyluloopy · 14/08/2024 02:09

You can get a ring doorbell disguised as a plant pot, you can also get a TAPO camera and place it on the inside of your window. Hope this helps.

Fraaahnces · 14/08/2024 02:41

You could also get a front and back motion-activated camera for your car.

WiddlinDiddlin · 14/08/2024 03:58

Get cameras - check your tenancy agreement but I can't see how putting cameras up for your own safety can be a fair clause in any contract - repairing any damage done IS, but a bit of filler and some paint would deal with any screw holes left behind and you may just be able to use adhesives that can be scraped off.

This absolutely sounds deliberate and I would also report to the police now it is clear you're being targetted.

Instaflan · 14/08/2024 06:43

I’ve only read your replies so can’t see if this has been suggested already but you can buy a baby/pet camera that comes on a stand so you can just sit it on your windows inside and point it outwards to the drive. That way it’s not fixed into anything and nobody outside can tamper with it. They sell them on Amazon pretty cheap.

TiredTilly · 14/08/2024 10:05

Thank you everybody for all your help and suggestions. You’ve given me ideas I didn’t even think of. Hope you all have a lovely day ❤️

Posters suggesting you get PIR lights, have they actually read the posts about not being able to put up anything. Yes,you can get a camera that looks like a plant, table lamp. Get evidence. I sympathise. We have open plan gardens, and people let their dogs poo on our drive and garden. I have always had dogs, but had a neighbour once who let hers bark 20 hours out of 24, tried reasoning with her, eventually reported her to the council, whereby, she started throwing her dog poo into our garden, and on our furniture. She was nasty and very unpopular, one time, her car in her garden had all the tyres slashed and one of ours which was parked outside here house. We think that was a case of mistaken identity. My oldest DD did a HA swap, older lady seemed really nice, left the house absolutely filthy. Lied about her reasons for swapping, lied about her whole life. DD had numerous balifs visiting, letters from debt agents, and her car was vandalised. Obviously because of the previous tenant. I hope you get it sorted out.

I don’t really want to think this or even mention it but me and my husband stick out in this neighbourhood. We are not of the main demographic. I don’t want to believe this is the reason 😞 it hurts.

In this case, I would definitely get cameras, both for the house and the car(s).

If you are being targeted because of your ethnicity, that is horrifying and criminal. Cameras will provide the necessary evidence for a prosecution.

It may be worth having a chat with the police, too, and I would definitely start keeping a record of these incidents, ideally with pictures.

I'm so sorry you're going through this, OP. There really are some horrific people around.

CoffeeBeansGalore · 14/08/2024 10:29

Hi @TiredTilly check out Eufy cameras. They are wireless & use your wifi. You download an app to your phone and you can set it to notify you when triggered. Ours are solar powered by an integral panel so no wires needed at all.
There will of course be other brands but this is the one we use.

Yup I’ve been writing down what I’ll be saying to the police all morning, I feel I would sound silly I’ve never called police before.

I’ve just popped in to say that nobody should have to live this way. I’m going to guess that your local police have an antisocial behaviour team that you could speak to about having been targeted for the reasons you mentioned above. No wonder you’re sad. I’m horrified that this shit still happens in this day and age. I’m so sorry.

fluffytail · 14/08/2024 11:25

This all sounds awful. Definitely try a standalone camera. Eufy is a good brand - no subscription and you can record and save videos straight to your phone.
I recently had to report a crime and could do the whole thing online - an officer then called me back to discuss - she was very kind and helpful.

Dobbyatemysocks · 14/08/2024 11:28

These cameras are great and cheap.

Hope the link works.

I had problems with my neighbour and since installing these in my kitchen window and a bedroom made all the difference.

Frasers · 14/08/2024 11:32

Op, we have security cameras. Yesterday I put one inside looking through the window, till we have time to install it. It doesn’t work in the dark. It simply reflects the glass.

so you need to install one somewhere outside, I have these. Only 50 quid, work a charm, and notify you if it detects humans. It also takes snap shots of all movement if you don’t wish to pay for storage. However you need to find a way to install it outside, attach it to something heavy maybe.
