Anyone ever had weird stuff go on in their house?

In the last week, I've had two loaves of bread go missing from my house (one was in a delivery that I put in the cupboard, just mysteriously disappeared. Another my mum brought me to replace the other one, a loaf of sourdough. Randomly gone). Today I got up in the morning and found a scourer next to my sink. I don't use scourers. Never have. Weird weird weird!

Has anyone ever had something weird happen in their home and found a reasonable explanation for it?

No but that is very weird. Are you sure no one else is getting in or it’s someone you live with who’s just not mentioned it? Aren’t you a bit worried?

I live with my 5yo. He is very unlikely to have taken 2 loaves of bread and bought a scourer though. He had no idea when I asked him.

I have a house alarm system. If anyone went into my kitchen when I wasn't there the alarm would go off, so I'm a bit stumped!

I know it sounds bizarre but there have been caes where someone is living in the loft of a house and comes out at night or whenever the house is empty and helps themselves to food.

Not possible the alarm would have gone off.

Not my house, but my parents. A fairly large TV just fell off a TV stand. Had been on said stand for around 5 years. Also, a silver bracelet of mine disappeared. Looked everywhere, but it wasn't found. About 5 years later, I went downstairs, having stayed over there, and my bracelet was in the middle of the coffee table.

No explanation for either.

I have had two things vanish recently. And I mean vanish. They were there, then they weren't.

The most recent one was a lanyard I wear when I go into the office. I carried my mug of tea through, collected the lanyard off the side and put in on when I sat down to drink my tea. I stood up 10 mins later, and my ID card fell to the floor. I assumed it had fallen out the plastic holder. I went to put the ID card back in the plastic holder, and it wasn't there. Just the metal clip at the end of the lanyard.

I checked in the chair, round the chair, under the chair. Nope! Not found it since.

If the plastic holder had dropped off the lanyard previously, then the ID card couldn't have fallen to my feet, as the ID card cant just hang at the end of the lanyard, it needs to be in the plastic holder.

It's a mystery.

My hall, stairs and landing have a ghost. DH has just seen him tonight, actually.

He’s harmless enough.

See, I don't believe in ghosts. I'm struggling to find a logical explanation!

Weird!

LunaNorth · 12/08/2024 22:17

Do you have a pet? One of my dogs is a food thief, so that could explain the bread disappearing.

A cat might have brought in the scourer?

Urban foxes?

LunaNorth · 12/08/2024 22:18

Did your mum bring the scourer when she delivered the sourdough?

Glitter0 · 12/08/2024 22:31

Can you put a temporary camera in the kitchen?? I think someone is living in your loft too and has seen you enter the alarm code so they know how to turn it off??!!

cowboybootsonglassfloor · 12/08/2024 22:32

You've got the borrowers!

Noseybookworm · 12/08/2024 22:35

I'd set up a camera somewhere in the kitchen. This would really creep me out! Check the loft, just in case 😳 does anyone else have a key to your house?

Mouseville65 · 12/08/2024 22:36

Just today I had to leave in a hurry and it bugged me my bed was unmade and the bedroom curtains closed. I came back walked into my room and the bed was perfectly made and the curtains open Shock

There is only me here at the moment as my other half is working away and kids away on holiday!

ThomasTheTwerkEngine · 12/08/2024 22:55

Carbon monoxide leak? Although you would be having a lot of physical symptoms besides memory loss.

Any domestic animals? Cats can bring the weirdest things, and a dog with a good appetite could make a loaf of bread dissappear (bag and all).

Gawdimold · 12/08/2024 22:57

I lost my iPad the other day- looked everywhere- came downstairs and it was sitting where I usually sit on the couch ! No one else in

soakingupthesun · 12/08/2024 23:10

Could it have been your mum? Does she know your alarm code?
Call the alarm engineers and check their log

Rainbowbrite83 · 12/08/2024 23:22

Demonic possession obvs.

One christmas, when I was about 15, the leftover christmas turkey went missing. We had our christmas lunch, and when mum went to get the leftovers out of the fridge for our evening supper, it had gone and their was a huge gap in the middle of shelf where it had been. Our front door had an automatic lock at the time, and the windows were all closed and locked. It had been a quiet christmas, just mum, dad and me, so not many culprits. It was so strange, and we ended up going through the bins in case it had been thrown out. We wouldn't have eaten it, but just wanted to know what had happened to it. We never found it. It caused a huge argument, because my dad thought I'd done something with it (I hadn't) and my mum stuck up for me. We still wonder about the fate of the leftover turkey 25 years later.

MonsteraMama · 12/08/2024 23:23

My first thought would be you've got someone living in your attic. It happens 🤷‍♀️

Amybelle88 · 12/08/2024 23:28

I know you say your house is alarmed, but if someone was in the attic, couldn't they access the alarm to switch it off before getting to the kitchen?

Carbon monoxide was my first thought too.
