Too Hot for a Beach Day?

Hello all! With temperatures set to hit 30° today, we’ve planned a beach outing. I’m starting to wonder, am I being unreasonable taking the family out in this heat? Would you brave the beach, or opt for a cooler day indoors with the curtains drawn?

It would be too hot for me. It's unrelenting heat on the beach.

Leafygreen84 · 12/08/2024 08:12

In the U.K.?
go the beach. The weather is crap 90% of the time, why would you spend the one nice day of summer inside? Bonkers.
take shade, water, cover ups and go the beach.

FanofLeaves · 12/08/2024 08:12

Too hot for me because you can’t escape the heat in the beach. But some people would love it 🤷🏻‍♀️ do you have pop up tents for shade?

ThatsThatMeEspresso · 12/08/2024 08:12

Definitely go to the beach! You can go and cool off in the water. Have you got plenty of shade to take with you? Also you should get a breeze off of the water which will feel nicer than being inland.

Snacksgalore · 12/08/2024 08:12

If you live near by go down around 6 and it will be perfect.

Octonaut4Life · 12/08/2024 08:12

Perfect weather for a beach day I'd say!

TimetoPour · 12/08/2024 08:12

Go for it! It is usually more breezy by the sea. Plenty of sun cream, rash vests/tshirt, hat and lots of fluids- you will have a great day

I would go for it. You will get a sea breeze anyway.

Get a parasol, sunscreen, hats, water to drink...

You will be fine!

Mintearo7 · 12/08/2024 08:17

I would but agree with a pop up tent
and umbrellas for shade, big bottles of cold water in the cool bag.

YouveGotAFastCar · 12/08/2024 08:20

There's a lot of things inbetween the beach and the day indoors...

But I'd go to the beach, armed with good suncream and lots of drinks. There's no way I'd waste the gorgeous weather inside!

MeinKraft · 12/08/2024 08:23

The beach is the coolest place to be cause there's a breeze and a giant cool sea to jump in if you're cold. But maybe not for under 5s unless you have a big parasol or something? Or one of those UV tents.

LlynTegid · 12/08/2024 08:25

I wouldn't go because too many other people will go, including people who have no respect for their surroundings and others.

I'd wait until the temperature was a bit lower.

Tbskejue · 12/08/2024 08:26

There will be a good breeze so it won’t feel that hot so just be sensible with suncream, cover ups, etc and definitely some kind of sun shade. when you go on holiday to countries where it’s 30 degrees you don’t stay inside do you?

DataPup · 12/08/2024 08:26

30 is perfect temp for a beach day imo, as long as you have an umbrella/sunshade.

poppym12 · 12/08/2024 08:27

Depends which beach? A massive stretch with no shelter that will be absolutely rammed, no thanks. Anywhere else, definitely.

Beezknees · 12/08/2024 08:27

Entirely depends on how well you cope with heat!

I would not go to the beach in these temperatures, I am incredibly pale and burn within minutes so it's quite dangerous for me to be in the sun too long when it's like this. I just wouldn't enjoy it, I'd be worrying about burning.

That's just my personal circumstances though, other people love this weather!

icelollycraving · 12/08/2024 08:27

Some beaches will be rammed today. Have you got a shade as there won’t be any on a beach. More sunscreen than you think you’ll need and loads of drinks. If you go and it’s too much, you can come home/go somewhere else.
Personally the heat is my hell so I’ll be indoors dying and moaning but appreciate I’m in the minority. I will be sent the Peter Kay video of ‘I like it warm but this is too warm’ by several people.

Willmafrockfit · 12/08/2024 08:27

i am hoping for a sea breeze
sometimes there isnt any though
check the tide times

WeAreManyUArefew · 12/08/2024 08:28

I live by a beach, we’ll go out now, then be home between 11-4pm ish then back out this evening.
Depends - will you have shade on the beach? You’ll need it. Will you be able to go somewhere in the middle of the day for a break?
Got kids? Do they have rash vests at least? Will they wear them? Hats? Will they wear them?

So the answer for me would be yes, but if you’re sensible. Can’t tell you the. Umber of visitors we see with red raw kids, looking burnt, hot, sitting out in the open with no shade

Sunshine9218 · 12/08/2024 08:30

Beach with a tent and/or parasol yes.

RampantIvy · 12/08/2024 08:31

To me that is the perfect beach weather.
It would be the crowds that would put me off.

Willmafrockfit · 12/08/2024 08:31

there will be less crowds than on a sunday

mitogoshi · 12/08/2024 08:32

Depends where you are. Temperatures have dipped to low 20's here on the coast

Willmafrockfit · 12/08/2024 08:33

which coast @mitogoshi
