I'm a single mum who called out a gas engineer because my radiator was leaking. When he arrived and I told him the radiator was in the bedroom he was really weird, he followed me upstairs and loitered in the doorway as though he didn't want to go into the room. He then suggested that I purchase a spray from Amazon and spray it onto the leak. He then bolted downstairs saying he didn't charge a call out. I feel really upset now as I don't know what I did wrong? I could have understood if I was wearing a negligee but I had jeans and sweatshirt on😂

Don’t worry about it. I had a painter in recently (he knew I was married and my husband was here one of the days) and after he left (seemed like a nice gentleman) talked about 7 years since he had sex and all this weird stuff

He didn't want to be in a situation with a woman where he could be accused of doing something, without any witnesses there to back him up. People can be strange and he may have had a bad experience before.

I had a very similar thing happen when I wanted a cat flap fitted in our front door. I was wearing jeans and a jumper and everything about me and my home was just normal. DH was at work so it was just me at home. I asked the bloke if he'd like a cup of tea, went to make it and when I got back he'd vanished and so had his van. I've never had this happen before with any tradesman. I phoned the company to ask if the guy was alright and if he was coming back and the boss who answered the phone was really, really weird with me. He said nobody would be returning to do the work. To this day I have no idea what that was all about.

Perhaps he'd just had a message about a more lucrative job. Or realised it was a bigger job than first thought. Whereabouts is the leak?
