Decadent desserts

Spin off from the decadent food thread. What are your go-to desserts for when you want to treat yourself?

Mine: Tarte tatin served with creme fraiche. Pavlova with strawberries and kiwi. Crepes suzette (hassle to make, but divine to eat) Chocolate mousse.

Traditional cheesecake.

Greenfloral · 22/06/2024 11:22

Banoffee pie

KimberleyClark · 22/06/2024 11:31

Key lime pie.

TheChosenTwo · 22/06/2024 11:32

Tarte Tatin but with clotted cream for me.
Or tiramisu 😋

marigoldandrose · 22/06/2024 11:45

Black Forest Gateau

GoodVibesHere · 22/06/2024 11:46

More of an afternoon thing but scones with butter, jam and lashings of clotted cream

Black Forest Gateau

I adore BFG and it is very hard to come by these days!

@MsLuxLisbon agreed, although Asda did a decent Black Forest gateau around Christmas last couple of years

Mothership4two · 22/06/2024 12:06

Love crepes Suzette, also a properly made profiterole pile up (with decent chocolate and cream) and a lightly flavoured (bay is lovely) creme brulee

Nectarinesarenice · 22/06/2024 12:34

Pavlova

familyissues12345 · 22/06/2024 12:41

Tiramisu!

DoYouSmokePaul · 22/06/2024 12:42

Pavlova with tonnes of cream and strawberries

Sticky toffee pudding with vanilla ice cream

Apple crumble with warm custard

Nicebloomers · 22/06/2024 12:42

Another for Black Forest gateaux in all its retro chic glory.

MsLuxLisbon · 22/06/2024 12:44

I've thought of another: Lemon Meringue pie! Actually pretty easy to make but always draws gasps when wheeled out. Ditto Pecan pie. Not so keen on Pumpkin, though. I tried making it last autumn, it was a lot of effort but pretty 'meh'.

Another vote for Black Forest Gateau which I usually request for my birthday instead of sponge cake. I was under the impression it was going out in fashion, but glad to see lots of appreciation for it still.

Tiramisu
Creme Brulee
Delia's chocolate and rum bread and butter pudding served cold.

I see that I have listed all cold desserts. Hot desserts to me, tend to be more comforting rather than decadent.

CoffeeCantata · 22/06/2024 13:42

OP, I've always wanted someone to ask me this question. How long have you got?
COLD PUDDINGS
Creme brulee
Pavlova (you have to make these 2 together to use up the whites and yolks!)
Lemon Delicious pudding (where the pudding magically turns into both souffle sponge on top and lemon custard underneath)
Proper trifle
Tiramisu
Floating Islands
Summer pudding
Eton Mess
Roulade
Baked cheesecake (better than the non-baked variety) with cream and berries or fruit puree
Lemon syllabub with little biscuits
Strawberry shortcake and cream
Orange and almond syrup cake
HOT PUDDINGS
Queen of Puddings
Fruit crumbles
Ginger sponge with custard
Spotted Dick and custard
Syrup Sponge
Proper Bakewell Tart
Clafoutis
Fruit pie (apple, blackcurrant, damson)
Jam roly-poly

And those are just the ones I can think of. If I want an almost instant pudding I mix thick Greek yoghurt with good quality lemon curd (M & S's is lovely). You can make a crumbly biscuit base and add mango and lime syrup on top to make it less instant but absolutely heavenly.

Mmmmm...donuts.

Maybe in a slightly different category, but a really well made victoria sandwich with fresh vanilla double cream, whipped up on top and piled high with fresh berries.

Also, decadent but in a different way, a really lovely fruit salad with a wide (and expensive) range of fresh fruit. Always do that when I need a treat and eat it for breakfast, lunch and dinner as it only lasts a day or so in the fridge and DH hates fruit!

MistyHedgehog · 22/06/2024 13:49

Burnt basque cheesecake with berries and cream
Raspberry and almond tart with custard
Warm cookie dough with ice cream

Icecreamcone100 · 22/06/2024 13:49

Nigella’s Girdle buster pie…

RinklyRomaine · 22/06/2024 14:01

BFG for the win. Proper trifle. Eton mess. Or a decent homemade banoffee pie 😍

Ilovecakey · 22/06/2024 14:40

Belgian chocolate cheesecake

C1N1C · 22/06/2024 14:44

Millionaire's cheesecake :)
