MN is most likely not the place that will give some valid statistics, but do people have experiences with angry people? That type that actually need intervention?

What is that anger caused by?

In my experience frustration. Frustration over their own perceived or actual inadequacy or the perceived inadequacy of others.

Trauma

Stompythedinosaur · 15/06/2024 13:49

No one is born with good emotional regulation, it's something we are taught during our early life, through co-regulation with a safe adult - think tantrumming toddlers being soothed by being rocked or hugged.

Where people had poor experiences in their early life, or were parented by people who have their own difficulties, sometimes they aren't helped with this in the way that is ideal.

In my experience, people who struggle with anger were often left to struggle alone with their emotions as a small child.

Abusive childhood and traumatic life experiences, or bad example shown to them by an angry parent.

LemonCitron · 15/06/2024 13:50

Sometimes it's learned behaviour, ie they had an angry parent and grew up thinking it was normal.

Feeling thick now. Are people saying these are the towns that in general produce angry people?

No, of course they aren't 😂

You asked "where" these people come from - so they are giving you totally random locations.

If you want sensible answers. I think you need to reword your title!

bryceQ · 15/06/2024 16:38

Anger is a natural emotion. But being able to regulate your emotions and nervous system is a whole different thing. Some people have a very narrow window of tolerance and a hyperarousal state leads to frequent and uncontrollable anger.

DaftyLass · 15/06/2024 16:43

As above, anger is natural, but you need to be taught how to manage it. Some people are taught as children, some are not. Some manage to pick up the skills , some get councillors, some stay reactive.

Planetmuff · 15/06/2024 16:51

"Anger is fear's bodyguard" is my favourite quote.

Anger originates from fear or frustration I think.

Or Swindon.

Diets - like above lack of fish oil - or undiagnosed blood sugar problems - can be signs in older people of dementia and other forms of brain damage - some accidents that cause I think temporal lobe damage can led to anger - https://www.flintrehab.com/temporal-lobe-damage/.

Then things like personality, learned behavior - huge amounts of stress for some people - though cortisol studies seem variable and some people just being dicks/bullies and get off on being angry.

Omega-3 acids in fish oil may significantly reduce aggression

Taking omega-3 supplements or consuming it via food sources such as fish, flaxseed, and walnuts, may make aggressive and violent outbursts less likely, a new study suggests.

Trauma

It can think of plenty of people with anger issues who haven’t suffered serious trauma such as my ex husband (unless you count his mother being disappointed when he failed the entrance exam for his secondary school 40 years ago as trauma.

FrippEnos · 15/06/2024 17:01

People being deliberately wound up and other people not believing them.

Bloody hell, I wouldn't want to swallow that.

Nottherealslimshady · 15/06/2024 17:02

Poor parenting. They weren't taught to regulate their emotions properly. Either abusive or permissive parenting .

LorraLorraShite · 15/06/2024 17:03

Dartford, in my experience

2chocolateoranges · 15/06/2024 17:04

Those that need intervention and can't turn it off and on can be caused by, cognitive disorders (including impulse control), learning etc disorders, trauma, brain injury and sometimes personality disorders. Trauma is a massive umbrella and includes, childhood neglect, DV, grief and addiction.
