Preferably in KG but if you only know your weight in stones and lbs that would still be helpful. I'm on a weight loss journey and I am confused about jean sizes! Thank you :)

What size jeans are you @bananasandhoney1 , hope your weight loss is going well

oakleaffy · 20/05/2024 19:50

1.72 metres (5’8””) and dressed weight of 62 kilos
I find trouser and legging sizes hugely variable as to be meaningless.
Size 10 in M&S and they are baggy
The other trousers are size 14

BendingSpoons · 20/05/2024 19:54

5'10 74kg size 12 jeans are a bit snug. They fit better when I'm around 71kg.

KarenOH · 20/05/2024 19:56

5”9 and size 14 is about 15 stone for me

JeysusH · 20/05/2024 20:02

I find these threads fascinating. I do think they are pretty meaningless without photographs though, for a number of reasons.

I see many, many women wearing clothes that are too small, sizing up would look much better.

People carry weight very differently, there's a woman at my gym who has a tiny frame, she's probably about 5'4", I'd guess a size 6, but has quite pronounced rolls of fat on her torso. There are other women who are much taller and broader who are maybe a 14 but have a smooth and balanced silhouette.

FWIW, I'm 5' 8.5", 62kg and a 10/12, not much excess fat anywhere, broad shoulders, prominent clavicle and ribs, slim hipped and small breasted but could probably benefit from losing a couple of kg if I could be bothered.

Yazoop · 20/05/2024 20:07

5ft9 and generally:
11-12 stone: 10 top - 12 bottom
13-14 stone: 12 top - 14 bottom
14-15 stone: 14 top - 14/16 bottom
But can obviously vary depending on brand etc! And also the type of thing you wear - if you wear items to “suit” fit your figure it probably is more likely to fit at a smaller size if that makes sense - eg a pear wearing a-line skirt that hugs at waist and skims thighs. But skinny jeans or trousers may need to be sized up.

I typically hold weight on boobs and hips/bum/thighs but my shoulders / arms are relatively slender with a fairly narrow waist.

There are so many variables with weight/height v size - body shape, muscle density etc. not sure it means a whole lot!

I’m very pregnant at the moment so that’s thrown everything out of whack! And who knows if that will change how I hold my weight after.

BobnLen · 20/05/2024 19:29

My bones are quite wide, broad shoulders, large ribcage and hipbones so I'm not very compact whereas some people are quite narrow built so I need a size 14 to accommodate this even though I am 5'10 and only weigh a little bit more than you at 11st.

I’d say the same, I used to be about 9.5 stone back in the day at 5’10 and still wore size 14 jeans as my hip bones are quite wide. I looked pretty skinny though.

chatenoire · 20/05/2024 15:00

I'm substantially shorter (5ft3) and I'm a size 6/8 and weight 65-67kg

Useless comment.

Maryamlouise · 20/05/2024 20:51

Size 12 (though I would try on anything 10-14, and even tried on an 8 the other day as I loved it so much and it was only available at that size and got lucky that fits well), weigh 65kg and am 5ft11. Good luck buying jeans - I hate shopping for them as think it is so hard to find a good fit and comfy.

Serialcatmum · 20/05/2024 20:58

5’10 here and a (shocking) 17 stone. Size 20.

When I was 14.5 stone 5 years ago (I know I know!) I was still a size 18 😬

ErnestCelendine · 20/05/2024 21:00

Between 10.5 and 10.10 stone. Often go for a 14 as wide ribcage and bloated stomach more comfy that way.

Crazycrazylady · 20/05/2024 21:35

I'm the same height as you and currently am 10 pounders heavier than my usual 11 stone. Normally a ten but starting to feel a bit tight now. Started diet today 😔

cowgirl42 · 20/05/2024 21:37

5’ 7” 74kg and a size 14.

lljkk · 20/05/2024 21:41

These threads are always fascinating!

My adjective would be "bewildering"

I'm 5'8", about 60-62 kg. I look first at size 14-16 for tops & probably size 10-12 for bottoms. I can swim 1500m in 40 minutes & I walk 20km a day but apparently am not that mucular at all.

UnpickThePockets · 21/05/2024 06:25

5’8.5 and 65kg.

I’m a Zara medium and try on 10-12 elsewhere.

SaltyGod · 21/05/2024 06:36

5ft 8, 64kg, size 10/12, 28.5 inch waist

amyboo · 21/05/2024 06:37

I'm 5'8" and weigh 77-78kg. I wear size 31/32 in jeans, I guess a size 12/14 in everything else - very much depends on the brand and the fit. I have pretty big boobs which doesn't help.... the lowest I've been in my 30s was 72kg before having my 3 kids and being diagnosed with Hashimotos, which means I have to work pretty hard to try and shift weight. I do loads of sport, so am pretty toned....

OMGitsnotgood · 21/05/2024 06:43

Agree with PP are body composition varying. Another PP wrote

I am 5'9"* .....79kg I am size 16

Yet I am only 5'4", 79kg and size 14

MorvernBlack · 21/05/2024 06:44

5' 10" and at 78kg I'm a 12-14. Jean sizes vary hugely though.

Abitorangelooking · 21/05/2024 06:46

JamesPringle · 20/05/2024 15:21

These threads are always fascinating!
5'11
11st
A biggish size 14.

These threads are mind blowing. I’m the same height/ size as you but weigh 87kg.

As an adult the lightest I’ve been was 10 11lbs (68 ish Kg) and was a slender ten.

Nannydoodles · 21/05/2024 07:08

5’10 and currently 12st 6lb. M&S Magic Jeans fit me perfectly in a size12, lovely length too, I haven’t tried other brands on for years but I think I would need bigger.
Other clothes I tend to be a 14.

Monkeybutt1 · 21/05/2024 07:21

Weight doesn't mean much, I'm 5ft 7 79kg but a 12-14 most 14s are a little big on the waist, I have a curvy hourglass frame with big hips and boobs and do a lot of strength training so a lot of that weight is muscle

Peal4 · 21/05/2024 07:24

I'm 5 11 and I weigh 70kg. Fit into size 10 or 12 depending on where they're from.

FinallyHere · 21/05/2024 07:29

Not sure how anything is going to help more than trying on different sizes. Sizes vary so much and bodies vary so much too, depending on bone structure and weight distribution.

PeterJohnson · 21/05/2024 07:48

1m76 & 73kg. Depending on the brand 12-14. I can squeeze into a pair of next 12 jeans. Usual jeans are size 32x32 (I am officially square!) but are, if I'm being honest, very snug. Other trousers and sportswear I need a L.
