Preferably in KG but if you only know your weight in stones and lbs that would still be helpful. I'm on a weight loss journey and I am confused about jean sizes! Thank you :)

5'9 here:

  • at 61- 66kg I'm a 12
  • at about 57 -60kg I'm a 10.
mondaytosunday · 20/05/2024 18:30

Im 5'10" and at 12 stone I was a size 12-14. At 10 stone 10 I was a size 10-12.

gegs73 · 20/05/2024 18:31

5 foot 10. I’m 73 kg. Always 14 bottoms and 12 sometimes less if it’s baggy tops. I’ve been a lot lighter in the past and always have 14 bottoms (pear shaped).

Lilacdew · 20/05/2024 15:28

These baffle me. I am 5'4, 11st and size 14. I am very muscly but have fat on top. I'd expect someone 7 inches taller and same dress size to be a lot heavier than me. You must look slender and willowy at that weight and height.

I don't, I'm quite flabby and don't look slim until I've reached about 9 and a half stone. I'm well-built and am bigger in body than a lot of men. The difference is crazy isn't it!

MaryMaryVeryContrary · 20/05/2024 18:47

I’m 5’9 and a size 12. I weigh 65kg

gingercat02 · 20/05/2024 18:52

5'9" size 12 currently 72.6 kg, BMI 23.5, but the plan is under 70. Was 77kg this time last year.

northernballer · 20/05/2024 18:55

5"9, 9st 4lbs and a size 10 in most shops, an 8 in Next or M&S or anywhere with vanity sizing.

Marine30 · 20/05/2024 18:57

I’m 5.9 and weigh 59kg but I work out so I have quite muscular legs but a relatively small waist.
I wear a size UK 8, or 26 in jeans (occasionally 27 but mainly 26)

Chely · 20/05/2024 19:00

5ft8 at a size 12/14 I weighed 78kg, I do weightlifting too so fair bit of muscle.

MyOtherCarisAVauxhallZafira · 20/05/2024 19:04

I'm 5'9 when I get to 10st I look really boney and people ask if I'm well. I'm very straight up and down and not much in the way of boobs/bum, but I do have fairly broad shoulders, which probably doesn't help. I'm also very pale which adds to the sickly air.
I best suit 11st to 11st 7 , I'm in a ten in most places at that weight and look slim but healthy BMI is about 22.5-23.5. I can get away with up to twelve stone and people don't believe I weigh that much (height definitely helps).
At my heaviest I was 17 stone and a 16/18 definitely an 18 in jeans or anything more rigid

MiddleAgedDread · 20/05/2024 19:07

This will vary so much depending on where people
shop and people’s body composition that it’s really meaningless asking. I weigh more than the person who says they’re a size 12 at 66kg and 5ft 9” yet I’m shorter and a size 12 but i exercise a lot so I’m probably denser that those who don’t.

DGPP · 20/05/2024 19:09

Also baffled by this. I’m 5ft 5, 10st 10 and definitely a size 10. I would have thought taller equals thinner at that weight

Mystro202 · 20/05/2024 19:10

5"8.5 and size 12 & 12 stone

Whoisthewalrus · 20/05/2024 19:11

I’m not as slim now - but I was around 10 and a half stone and a size 10-12 (5ft 9).

BobnLen · 20/05/2024 19:14

I'm 5' 10" and weigh 70kg, age 66, fairly large boned and am size 14 in Next and M&S jeans. I was about 63 kg when I was younger and looked quite bony.

GCSEsalready · 20/05/2024 19:15

5 9, 67kg, size 12

What’s “definitely a size 10”? Is that a specific set of measurements? Thanks.

Size 13 if that was a thing

Some 30 odd years ago I bought a pair of jeans from M&S size 13, and they were a perfect fit. I am a typical pear shape, so usually in a size 12 the waist was perfect but too tight on the thigh. A size 14 would fit thigh wise, but the waist was massive!
I think the size 13 was an experiment, and back in the day.obviously not successful, but it did exist

Anotherparkingthread · 20/05/2024 19:18

5ft 9 and 66kg and a size 8, occasionally a 10. I am gym fit though so quite lean and rather flat chested.

Shopgirl1 · 20/05/2024 19:27

Crazy the variation. I’m 6ft, currently 79kg and a size 12, I’ve been 70kg a couple of years ago and was an 8 then and when I’m 73-75kg I’m a 10 usually.

My bones are quite wide, broad shoulders, large ribcage and hipbones so I'm not very compact whereas some people are quite narrow built so I need a size 14 to accommodate this even though I am 5'10 and only weigh a little bit more than you at 11st.

I rest my case above as I’m 71kg and 5ft 6 but wear a size 12 in M&S jeans and the older pair I’ve had on today are a 10!

WonderingWanda · 20/05/2024 19:40

5'9 78kg and a size 14 on the bottom, often a 12 on top. At 70 I can manage a 12 top and bottom. Hourglass shape. Absolutely feel overweight at present. Prefer to he below 74 kg but have to stare myself to get there these days.

milkonesugar36 · 20/05/2024 19:44

5'5" and approx 8st 12lb size 8

Your skeleton limits how slim you can get.
