Called a fat pig by a random child

I was in the shop with my 4yoDD and a 10 year old child told her brother to just buy the sweets he wanted. He said ‘don’t worry about looking like a fat pig infront of the other fat pig’and then looked at me. There was absolutely no one else around. I’m a size 16 and trying to lose weight. I just got back in the car with tears in my eyes

How horrible that they said that xxxx

cuckyplunt · 14/05/2024 16:55

Poor child, just imagine the up bringing she has had with an attitude like that? Imagine what her future looks like.
Pity her and move on.

fluffiphlox · 14/05/2024 16:55

Well it’s horrible. One can only imagine their home life if they think speaking in that way is acceptable.

BigFatPuddingMonster · 14/05/2024 16:56

What a horrible little shit.

IdaPolly · 14/05/2024 16:56

Try not to worry. You just met a very badly brought up, rude kid. They'll probably be rude to the wrong person one day and someone will put them in their place.

Exactly. Thats what kids say and do when they have no boundaries. Pity them and move on.

Wishlist99 · 14/05/2024 16:58

That must have been really upsetting 😢

muggart · 14/05/2024 16:59

He's a silly kid trying to be big and clever. He might remember it later and cringe as an adult.

KimberleyClark · 14/05/2024 16:59

What a little shit of a boy.

Yummymummy2020 · 14/05/2024 17:01

What an awful interaction to have op. I agree, it’s very sad to think he must be around that kind of talk to think it’s remotely acceptable to speak like that. I would have been really upset too.

Parkerpenny · 14/05/2024 17:11

I used to teach 10 year boys and they say all sorts of nonsense. I was told I smell (I don't) amongst being fat (I'm not) and probably lots of other things as well as being talked down to until 'proving' myself. Most of them turned out quite nice when 'tamed' but could be quite vile. It's not acceptable but it is not worth taking their opinions on board.

yumyumyumy · 14/05/2024 17:14

That's so nasty. I'm sure it's not because the child thought you were fat, they're a nasty little shit and would say it to anyone.

yumyumyumy · 14/05/2024 17:16

I heard a middle aged man shout outside when driving his van "move out of the way you fat cunt" to a woman who was closing her car door in the road 😱 she wasn't even fat. Let's hope this gob shite is kicked into touch before he turns into that.

RobertaFirmino · 14/05/2024 17:17

I'm really sorry this happened to you. Children can be cruel. With an attitude like that, she'll likely learn some manners the hard way.

Puppuccino · 14/05/2024 17:19

Kid's a shit, most children would never say something like that, never mind being so bold to say it in earshot. Poorly adjusted. Feel sorry for him.

Sorry you had to do experience that

Topseyt123 · 14/05/2024 17:20

You had the misfortune to encounter a nasty little shit of a child.

It's true that they must be having a really shit upbringing if they think it OK to speak like that.

Give them no further headspace.

menopausalmare · 14/05/2024 17:20

I would have stepped on his foot. Oops, sorry.

MidnightPatrol · 14/05/2024 17:21

Says a whole lot more about him, than about you.

zingally · 14/05/2024 17:23

Imagine the horrible upbringing that little toad is having to think it's okay to speak about other people like that. Pity her and move on.

Reminds me of a child I "met" on a cruise a couple of years ago. I was in the queue to get a hotdog, minding my own business, when a kid and her parents joined the line next to me. The kid (who must about only been about 7 or 8) looked up at me, sneered and went "Why are YOU here?! You're in the WAY!"

I'm a primary school teacher, so fairly immune to stupid children, so I just glared at her and went "TOUGH LUCK."

Agree with this. He is a child that has not been brought up with manners and respect. One day he'll insult the wrong person and get his comeuppance.

longtompot · 14/05/2024 17:50

Kids can be so cruel sometimes. I walking my dog in our local park one morning, when a group of pre teens walked past and said oh loo, it's Susan Boyle! I look nothing like her but was a bit overweight and I think she was thought of as being overweight but I'm not sure she was, so I think it was their roundabout way of saying I was fat.

Blackcats7 · 14/05/2024 17:59

Don’t be sad, be angry. It feels a lot better.
Also the comments about someone not even being fat etc suggest that if someone is actually seriously fat then calling them derogatory names might have some degree of justification which of course is not the case.
Posters probably don’t mean this at all but the words we use can be a window to deeply conditioned attitudes and values and serve to reinforce those who do believe fat people should be shamed.

Investinmyself · 14/05/2024 18:08

It sounds like a rude child who hasn’t earn taught. Like other posters have said one day they will say it to wrong person and get a response they don’t like.
It’s probably shaken you more as you were with dc and don’t want them exposed to that. How do you wish you’d reacted on reflection Op? Often walking away is the best thing to do especially with a 4 yr old with you.

Toenailz · 14/05/2024 20:01

There are, contrary to popular belief, worse things than being fat.

For example, like being children brought up like this. Mortifying.

ThirtyThrillionThreeTrees · 14/05/2024 20:03

What a rude badly raised little shit! There must be zero parental guidance in that house and it can't be a great life for that child either.
