Called a fat pig by a random child

I was in the shop with my 4yoDD and a 10 year old child told her brother to just buy the sweets he wanted. He said ‘don’t worry about looking like a fat pig infront of the other fat pig’and then looked at me. There was absolutely no one else around. I’m a size 16 and trying to lose weight. I just got back in the car with tears in my eyes

Unfortunately I bet she's been called a fat pig by a parent or other adult in her life before, to be that nasty at 10. Sorry you had to hear it OP.

I'm confused. You say her but then say he - was the child who made the rude remark a girl or a boy?

a girl sorry. Meant to say she in the second part. She was a few others, slightly younger but she was the oldest

When I was about 4 my mom says that I said to her in a doctor's surgery "mum, look at that big fat lady!". Luckily, I spoke more than one language at the time but my mum hadn't registered that I had said it in her native language so the woman hadn't understood but she started apologising to her anyway... making it worse.

But anyway. Please don't let it upset you. These children are not being brought up with the kind of kind parents that would tell them that there is so much more to a person than their size. They've been clearly taught that your size says something about you and, let me tell you for certain, it 100% does not.

Take care.
