to enjoy an afternoon nap

60ish, working part time, kids are adults, every afternoon I am free I like to snuggle under the duvet about 2 ish and have a little doze for an hour or so.

Does everyone else my age indulge, or plough on to the end of the day?

I often do get up very early

YABU - you're acting like an old lady, or else very lazy!

YANBU - it's fine, we all do it if we can!

YANBU I love a little nap

ICantLogIn · 07/05/2024 16:27

It sounds delicious. Enjoy!

ShillyShallySherbet · 07/05/2024 16:27

YANBU I hope I’m able to do this when I’m in my 60s. I’d do it now if I could.

Mrsjayy · 07/05/2024 16:28

I love a nap im younger Than you there is nothing lazy about napping it's just recharging!

PotatoPudding · 07/05/2024 16:29

Until I started my current job, I always had an afternoon nap (I am 46). 20 minutes of shut-eye in the afternoon can easily give me an extra couple of hours of being awake in the evening.

GetYourHandOut · 07/05/2024 16:29

I'm in my 40s and I had a little snooze on the sofa this very afternoon!

FeckOffNowLads · 07/05/2024 16:31

I go for a nap every day at 2 for about an hour.

Im very active and it recharges me perfectly, I can then plough through life at top speed until 10pm - i think it’s a highly efficient way to go if you can manage it.

Mrsjayy · 07/05/2024 16:35

I've not had a nap today I had a Dr's appointment and if I nap now I won't sleep tonight I'm now a bit cranky and will probably be in bed for 9.30!

StarbucksQueen1 · 07/05/2024 16:37

I’m 37 and work part time and have a 5yo who wakes at 6am. I sleep about 1030-530 but would LOVE an afternoon nap as at about 1-2pm I’m shattered. I do take beta blockers so probably doesn’t help!
indulge… why not!!

itsjustbiology · 07/05/2024 17:02

Love afternoon naps..you carry on OP.

ThisNoisyTealLurker · 07/05/2024 18:41

I'm 45 and LOVE an afternoon granny nap. I feel fortunate to be able to roll myself up like a sausage roll in my duvet for an hour or so before the kids come home from school. I work part time and study so my brain is often drained by mid afternoon and a nap sorts me out.

alloweraoway · 07/05/2024 18:42

I have enjoyed my nap! Thank you

It’s very good for you to nap. I sleep badly at night so shouldn’t really nap. I do occasionally.

uncomfortablydumb53 · 07/05/2024 18:49

I'm a year younger than you and have an hour nap every afternoon
I live alone now and don't work due to disability so it helps me get through the day!
Enjoy!

catlady7 · 07/05/2024 18:52

I love a nap

Workingtosurvivenotthrive · 07/05/2024 18:55

Bloody love a nap here and I'm in my late 30s. I WFH two days a week and voluntarily give up my lunch break on those days for an hours sleep, often curled up with the dog on the duvet too. Always have, helps me get through the rest of the day.

Xmasbaby11 · 07/05/2024 18:57

It’s not for me but it’s common in many countries. I’ve lived in Spain and China and in both countries they take a long lunch break to nap. in china if they couldn’t get home for lunch they’d just put their heads on their desks and sleep.

if you genuinely feel better with a nap then go for it. I’d only worry about getting used to it then not being able to fit it in and struggling.

Belledan1 · 07/05/2024 18:57

Early 50s, dont sleep great. Weekends I def have a nap at 2ish once I have done all my jobs. I sometimes when wfh have a little shut eye in my lunch but do set my alarm.

Bonjovispjs · 07/05/2024 19:06

Afternoon naps are the best 😊

JamSandle · 07/05/2024 19:12

I'm in my 30s and can't get through most days without a nap.

Anjo2011 · 07/05/2024 19:14

Love an afternoon nap, on the sofa with a blanket. Mine needs to be a bit earlier or I wouldn’t sleep at night. YANBU.

FUBAR77 · 07/05/2024 19:15

Napping is probably my favourite hobby of all time. On lucky weeks I’ll get in a couple. I’m only 39 so probably shouldn’t need them but in my defence it doesn’t matter what time I go to sleep I’m up at 6 so it’s the only way to get extra sleep

MalibuBarbieDreamHouse · 07/05/2024 19:21

I’m in my 30s - quite pregnant and my daughter goes down for a midday nap and for the past week; I’ve joined in! DD sleeps for 2 hours but I just have 20/30 minutes and I wake up so refreshed! It’s the Spanish way!

Theoldwoman · 07/05/2024 19:24

I nap every day. Winston Churchill did too …

ConcernedOfClapham · 07/05/2024 19:30

I sleep much better during the day so will often nap for an hour two if i can get away with it during the afternoon. I feel so much better for it; I don’t sleep well at night because the darkness is conducive to anxiety setting in.

Go for it!
