I hate sharing food!

We went out for Sunday lunch yesterday.. absolutely delicious but the vegetables for 4 came in one dish and then everyone was very polite and only took a little bit. I want my own dish so I know what's mine and what I can eat. Also.. same with Tapas...I like my own portion. I don't mind so much if it's a Thai starter or something like that as it is clear that there are two of something and two of something else. I find it stressful sharing!

I am happy to share with friends or family, we order enough no one goes hungry and we don’t find it complex to eye a dish and work out a rough portion, no one is greedy and takes too much and no one is overly polite and takes a tiny amount, and as said, we order enough so we know we won’t be hungry,

I don’t like it so much with colleagues, everyone is a little hesitant and takes small amounts, but ultimately it’s fine. No biggie.

Not sure the op cares any more given this thread is two years old

Seems very odd to me that someone would only want one thing off the menu and to eat the whole plateful themselves.

How odd to think this is odd, its literally how restaurants work unless you opt for,Tapas or sharing platrers
What would you like-fish and chips
Ill have lasagne

Ive never been in a situation where someone has tried to take half my food off my plate
They would get told off!
Such dreadful manners

I have never liked it, but I get it from the restaurants perspective. Less time plating up on a busy service.

Sunday dinner is also highly vulnerable to my biggest gripe…. People not wanting X, can I have extra Y instead? This makes it easier and more cost effective for the restaurant

with tapas. Not really relevant as that’s the point of the cuisine. Don’t like it, don’t go

I love sharing! All you have to do is mentally divide up the plate and take that much-most things you can count anyway.

I hate sharing as I am fussy about food and have a tomato allergy. I don’t trust others to put their fingers or cutlery in a sharing bowl that hasn’t got tomato in and contaminate everything. My food is my food.
