If someone liked watching Eastenders most nights, would this put you off dating them?

OP posts:
SpudleyLass · 26/04/2024 21:00

I know of men who watch soaps. Wouldn't necessarily put me off.

XenoBitch · 26/04/2024 21:00

No, because I watch it too.

Shite like Love Island though.... they can fucking stroll on.

lotsofpeoplenametheirswords · 26/04/2024 21:01

No! It's Eastenders not hardcore porn he's watching at 7.30pm every night.

Martha877 · 26/04/2024 21:01

Definitely a red flag

It would concern me. However I don't think I'd refuse to date based on this alone - it would warrant further investigation!

ShinyAppleDreamingOfTheSea · 26/04/2024 21:04

It would depend on whether he insists on watching it every night or if he's happy to just catch up with the story if he's got nothing better to do .

ElaineMBenes · 26/04/2024 21:07

Seriously?
My DH watches all kinds of things on TV including soaps and reality shows. Why on earth would that be a problem?!

dallydilly · 26/04/2024 21:08

I don't like soaps but its hardly crime of the century to watch them.

PossumintheHouse · 26/04/2024 21:09

Yes. Honey is really hot, as is Lauren, Sharon, Whitney and all of them. Don't get me started on the blokes. And the storylines, oh, they are glorious.

BMW6 · 26/04/2024 21:10

Don't be daft OP

You can't be serious?!

SmallIslander · 26/04/2024 21:12

I'd rather he watched Eastenders than football, I suppose.

I once instructed a barrister based on the fact their profile said they liked red wine and Brookside (back in the day).

Often people with high powered jobs watch something on TV which helps them completely switch off and that they don't need brainpower to watch.

Is it something particular about EastEnders you find so offensive or can we insert any soap/reality tv/TV programmes yo consider beneath you?

This. What exactly is your concern?

Floralnomad · 26/04/2024 21:18

It would put me off a bit because I don’t watch soaps so would think I was not that well matched with him , not because there is something wrong with a man watching Eastenders .

Jellykat · 26/04/2024 21:18

I watch it every night, hes welcome to join our thread, the more the merrier 😁

Keroppi · 26/04/2024 21:20

Ask him who he thinks Sonia's baby daddy is

pictoosh · 26/04/2024 21:21

Is Eastenders still going?

I think it's quite funny and sweet of him. I wouldn't mind.

You mumsnet don't you? Is that any better?

My DH really got into Ibiza weekender when he was in the final stages of his PhD for this exact reason 😂😂😂

FeralNun · 26/04/2024 21:23

Yes, it would. But if they seemed really nice, I might wonder if I was missing something and that in fact Eastenders was really great and I should give it a go.

After that, I’d know if we shared values or not.

TooMinty · 26/04/2024 21:24

Only if it stopped him from doing other stuff e.g. won't go out if he'll miss it etc.

LadyTiredWinterBottom2 · 26/04/2024 21:25

There are worse things he could do every night

Is he kind, respectful, funny, considerate?
