To think Rishi will use WW3 as a reason to govern indefinitely

I know I am being VERY cynical here but I think Rishi is waiting for any possible reason to not call an election - it’s very possible that the attacks overnight in the Middle East will give him that reason. They’ll invoke a war cabinet or some mad reason and then stay in power.

He just smirks and laughs every time someone asks him about an election- he needs to call one by November under the terms of our current Parliament.

I am probably being Mega cynical and OTT but I don’t trust the self serving Tories currently in power to do anything that is democratic or in the best interest of the country- they just want to remain in power!!

I won't.

Guavafish1 · 14/04/2024 07:36

He has until November, so still some time.

If there is a war, then its more likely a war coalition government like WW2.

Glasto73lover · 14/04/2024 07:37

@RishiSunak ha ha 😜

BentFork · 14/04/2024 07:37

😂

Hothotdamage · 14/04/2024 07:37

Yes you are being OTT.

It won't happen.

tttigress · 14/04/2024 07:37

I think that is a bit conspiratorial

friskybivalves · 14/04/2024 07:38

What are you on about.

CroftonWillow · 14/04/2024 07:39

You're right we won't have elections if we end the year directly in a hot war but I think if that's the case elections are the least of our problems. I can't imagine why any prime minister would actually wish that scenario.

NigelHarmansNewWife · 14/04/2024 07:39

It won't happen. Lord Cameron will lead the unity government. Proven coalition experience.😉

It's not November. It's December.

bestbefore · 14/04/2024 07:43

They never say when they will call an election until they do. Why would they?

Glasto73lover · 14/04/2024 07:44

@tttigress of course it’s conspiratorial!

But when you look at their history, look at how the behaved during covid, remember that the prorogued parliament etc - It’s really not that much of a stretch!

Labour invaded Iraq under false pretences and murdered thousands last time they were in government so they’re hardly a safe pair of hands to aspire to.

Glasto73lover · 14/04/2024 07:47

@Charlie2121 well no, I can’t stand Starmer either and don’t think it will be any different.

But I trust Sunak and the current shower even less - they aren’t fit to govern any longer. The country is in such a mess and everything feels broken.

Ursulla · 14/04/2024 07:47

He probably bombed personally them himself. Tiny grinning twat.

Glasto73lover · 14/04/2024 07:48

@NigelHarmansNewWife ha ha, he might call another referendum on something too….

Typical Tory nonsense. Tony Blair wasn't a creature of the Labour Party and many of the Labour Party disagreed with the Iraq invasion. Tony Blair only got it through parliament because the Tories supported it. Did you forget that bit??

Zonder · 14/04/2024 08:09

Well said @Dollenganger333

He has to announce a GE by 12th December and I think he will wait til the last possible moment. I'm expecting an announcement on the 10 o'clock news on 12/12.

Allthegoodnamesarechosen · 14/04/2024 08:11

I don’t think he wants to be Prime Minister now, he looks terrified whenever you see him. Rumour is that Cameron is running everything.

Anyway, his FIL wants him home soon. 🐩

underscorer · 14/04/2024 08:20

He won't, he'll fuck off back to America with his billionaire wife.

avocadotofu · 14/04/2024 08:26

I totally disagree OP.

as you don’t like the current or the opposition which ward will you be standing in ?

Meadowfinch · 14/04/2024 09:02

You are being absurd. He has until Dec to call an election. No alternative.

The UK is not a rogue state despite some of the hysterical posting on MN.

Edited

12th Dec. And to be fair the UK is pretty rogue at the moment!
