Only posting here as no other post that I could see. 7 people dead. He stabbed a 9 month old baby. The baby's mum passed it to someone else . Mum has just died. WHat the feck is wrong with people? Thank goodness a police inspector went in on her own and shot him. So sad. It's where my family grew up and just a normal part of Australia. Hate to say it but the world is awful.

Yes it is very upsetting. Lots of bravery from members of the public as well as the first responders.

IMustDoMoreExercise · 13/04/2024 10:57

So sad. There are so many screwed up people in this world. It only takes one person to ruin so many lives for ever.

FiveShelties · 13/04/2024 10:58

Five people dead being reported in our NZ press, just awful. People out shopping on a Saturday afternoon.

It is a very sad world we live in.

margolyes · 13/04/2024 11:30

The guy at the top of the escalator was amazing, and the dad that turned him away from his family. It just shows what one knife can do. Most people are just too shocked to do anything. Glad the prick is dead.

It's awful. I'm Australian and it's just a normal shopping centre. That poor mum who died after being stabbed with her baby.

Psychoticbreak · 13/04/2024 11:40

Its shocking.

Peridot1 · 13/04/2024 11:44

It’s so awful. I live in the UK but have been to Australia quite a lot especially Sydney and I’ve been to Bondi Jctn quite a few times.

So many innocent people just going about their normal lives out shopping on a Saturday.

Itsokish · 13/04/2024 11:46

Absolutely terrible for all involved. Spent a lot of time in Sydney many years ago. Heartbreaking. Just why ?

Squarecircletriangle · 13/04/2024 13:31

I'm so upset thinking about the poor baby that's going to wake up after surgery without its mum. It's just horrible.
No one goes shopping with their baby expecting to lose their life.

ExpressCheckout · 13/04/2024 13:45

I've never been to Australia, nor do I have Australian friends or family, but I do think of you guys as our cousins, and so my thoughts are with you today

PleaseStopEatingMyStuff · 13/04/2024 13:51

Terrible terrible news. Also thinking of everyone involved, and the brave police officer who stopped him on her own.

Needhelp101 · 13/04/2024 13:52

It's absolutely horrible news 😥

SaltySeaCat · 13/04/2024 13:54

The second mother to be stabbed to death whilst out with her baby in a week. Awful.

MyHuckleberryFriends · 13/04/2024 13:56

Are the victims all women? That’s what I’m reading

thedendrochronologist · 13/04/2024 13:57

Yes it's made me emotional.

Unsure why I am more affected by this than other equally horrendous news items, but it just got me.

I felt like this after the Manchester Ariana Grande bombing.

The police officer though must be feeling all sorts right now. What a brave thing to do.

ExtraOnions · 13/04/2024 14:00

From what the police are saying.. it’s looks like it might be a targeted attack against the woman & baby. Tragic

LightSpeeds · 13/04/2024 14:04

So so sad. My thoughts are with all the people affected by this.

AnImaginaryCat · 13/04/2024 14:05

Not exclusively, though of the six killed five are women.

Which could be because women were in greater in the shopping centre at the time, rather than women targeted. I don't think the reason is known.

Senseless and tragic.

Are the victims all women? That’s what I’m reading

Five of the six victims who have died so far are women.

savethatkitty · 13/04/2024 14:08

Awful situation! Those poor people.

TurquoiseDress · 13/04/2024 14:10

So bloody awful, saw news reports on the BBC at lunchtime

takemeawayagain · 13/04/2024 14:11

So awful. So much violence in the world. Poor baby having lost it's poor mum.

OdeToBarney · 13/04/2024 14:11

I am so so sad this afternoon. I'm not Australian (although do have family in Aus) but the thought of popping to say, Bluewater, on a Saturday afternoon and being murdered, or my child being stabbed, it's just awful. Those poor, poor people.

But also - five of the six dead are women. I suspect the work of an incel.

WingSluts · 13/04/2024 14:16

So awful. Poor people.

Just trying to understand here, what’s the significance of it being just a normal shopping centre? That’s been mentioned twice.
