We are going to Gran Canaria in just under two weeks and i have checked the weather it's showing between 24 degrees and 26 degrees only
This week it's high 30s and I'm gutted
I can't help but feel a bit sad now that we have missed the red hot weather.
I tried explaining to partner how I feel but he thinks I'm being stupid and ridiculous
Which I probably am
I'm in Newcastle now and it's like 8 degrees and raining
I just love when it's red hot
Aibu ?

Bloody hell love ill go in your place if you want!

24 to 26 degrees is lovely!

garlictwist · 09/04/2024 15:50

It's scientifically impossible to accurately predict the weather for two weeks away. I do understand because I want it as hot as possible but I would kill for 24 degrees right now and even if it is a "low" as that it will feel amazing compared to the UK.

UncomfortableSilence · 09/04/2024 15:50

YABVVU Mid 20s compared to crappy 8, come on! It always feels hotter when you are there anyway, I'm with your DH I'm afraid.

The forecast won't even be that accurate for two weeks ahead, I'd wait till a few days before you go to check but either way it will be a lot better than the dire weather here.

Lovelynames123 · 09/04/2024 15:51

I'm in tenerife now, forecast says low 20s but it feels much warmer, definitely better than home (also from Newcastle!)

High 20s will be lush, look forward to it!

unpleasantindividual · 09/04/2024 15:51

This is why we always only go to Cyprus in the summer, its guaranteeed to be hot and sunny

Meadowfinch · 09/04/2024 15:52

It's two weeks away. Everything can change in that time. Don't start getting gloomy now !

Whatever happens, it'll be warmer than here. Warm enough to sit outside a bar with a drink. Warm enough not to be wearing layers of bloody sweaters. Warm enough to swim in the pool.

I am so envious.

Sunshineclouds11 · 09/04/2024 15:53

I'm from Newcastle also and considering how much rain we've had today I would do anything for 24 degrees.

You're lucky, enjoy it.

IamSmarticus · 09/04/2024 15:53

I can't even lie in anything over 30, it's too hot. I always go on holiday mid-late May, temperatures of 25 are perfect for me!

bellezarara · 09/04/2024 15:55

Google says the average highs for April in Gran Canaria is 18c, so you’re doing pretty well with mid-20s OP!

I do get what you mean being disappointed though. But it’s a matter of luck to get the hot weather at this time of year. And this is the risk you took booking in April.

brocollilover · 09/04/2024 15:55

oh don’t spoil it for your partner by whinging op

BeneathTheSea · 09/04/2024 15:55

I found Cyprus way too hot, 24 is ideal for me.

brocollilover · 09/04/2024 15:56

although naturally you’ll deny that’s what you’ve been doing 😆

Sirzy · 09/04/2024 15:57

Isn’t that about average for this time of year in the canaries?

BrendaSmall · 09/04/2024 15:57

I’m the same I love it in Egypt when it’s 30c at the lowest, I’m looking forward to going to Cyprus in May and June, but not looking forward to the weather being 25c,

coxesorangepippin · 09/04/2024 15:58

You're complaining about this???

brocollilover · 09/04/2024 15:59

where’s global warming when you want it?!

Georgesbar24 · 09/04/2024 15:59

Mid twenties is lovely. High thirties is oppressive for me.

Same here. I loathe going on holidays with 30+ temperature. We do our holidays before or after the summer.

Has anyone been to Rhodes beginning of September ? What's the weather like ?
We have booked there and are now worrying it's going to be cool

I'd love a holiday. mid 20s sounds lovely, you can still explore, have walks etc.

pritchartcc · 09/04/2024 16:00

@Lovelynames123 oh that makes me feel a bit better
I don't mean to sound ungrateful because I'm not just craving the heat after being so cold all winter

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 09/04/2024 16:10

It’s seven degrees and lashing rain here - school holidays have been a disaster. I’ll go in your place!

for someone so in love with the sun

odd to book in april and end of summer (although should still be warm in rhodes)

MrsClatterbuck · 09/04/2024 16:23

Just back from the Canary Islands (not Gran Canary). It was from 21 to 26). Did get to 32 on one occasion. Plenty warm compared to home. Maybe needed a cardigan in evening but that is par for the course in the Canaries with the constant breeze. I actually had the ceiling fan on in my bedroom at night to keep cool. Never once felt cold.
