We are going to Gran Canaria in just under two weeks and i have checked the weather it's showing between 24 degrees and 26 degrees only
This week it's high 30s and I'm gutted
I can't help but feel a bit sad now that we have missed the red hot weather.
I tried explaining to partner how I feel but he thinks I'm being stupid and ridiculous
Which I probably am
I'm in Newcastle now and it's like 8 degrees and raining
I just love when it's red hot
Aibu ?

I was in Gran Canaria a few weeks ago the weather was mid twenties most days and it was short and tee shirt weather. Lots of people sun bathing I think you will be ok.

You should be fine in Rhodes then, I wouldn't go from October onwards as it's very hit and miss. The link lets you check the weather in previous years, obviously not a guarantee but gives you an idea.

brocollilover · 09/04/2024 16:27

go in op

tell us your real motivation for starting this thread?

MKDmumofflash · 09/04/2024 16:28

Whereabouts are you going in GC? The weather forecast generally comes from data at the airport, if you're staying in the south of the island, it's generally a few degrees hotter.

And Rhodes in September was scorching hot when I went many years ago.

@Lovelynames123 oh that makes me feel a bit better
I don't mean to sound ungrateful because I'm not just craving the heat after being so cold all winter

It's 8 degrees today where I am in Scotland. 24-26 is lovely

We were in Lanzarote a month ago and temperature said 21/22. It was lovely. Definitely shorts/t-shirt weather. I craved the shade as usual 😂

JLT24 · 09/04/2024 16:33

24 to 26 is perfect weather, will definitely feel warm and be warm enough to sunbathe. Only ever been to GC when it’s in low 20s (we go every January). It’s our favourite place I’m sure you’ll enjoy it.

TeaWithHobnobs · 09/04/2024 16:33

24 to 26 degrees sounds lovely to me, any higher would be too hot. It's so cold where I am today so I would be jumping for joy if I I was going somewhere where the weather is 24 degrees!
Enjoy the holiday🙂

Moveoverdarlin · 09/04/2024 16:33

Gran Canaria is certainly not in the high 30s this week! It’s currently 14 degrees and it’s 11 here.

It’s sunny all week in Gran Canaria with a high of 26 degrees.

It will get to high 30s in August but not April.

pritchartcc · 09/04/2024 16:00

Has anyone been to Rhodes beginning of September ? What's the weather like ?
We have booked there and are now worrying it's going to be cool

Rhodes will still be hot in September, pushing 30.

OP I'd take that over the crap weather we seem to have had for months. I'd be more worried about the anti tourist sentiment at the moment tbh.

LillethCrane · 09/04/2024 16:39

I am currently in Spain and I was checking the weather forecast for a couple of weeks before we came- was gutted to see it was due to rain every day and be 14-16 degrees whilst here.

I really wish I hadn’t checked so much as it’s been glorious weather the whole time we’ve been here! My dc have been in the outdoor pools each day and I’ve laid on the sunbed in my swimming costume- perfect weather, but still probably only low 20s in temperature. It feels so much warmer!

Don’t waste time worrying about the weather forecast is basically what I’m saying.

weareallcats · 09/04/2024 16:39

24-26 sounds glorious to me.

StartingOverInMy40s · 09/04/2024 16:40

I always do a quick search on the average temperatures for the month I'm going before I book a holiday to give me a general idea.

Might be worth doing that kind of future OP

It's not always accurate as weather is unpredictable but at least you have a guide.

pritchartcc · 09/04/2024 16:41

@Moveoverdarlin it is high 30s this week
Must be a mini heatwave

@OfMiceandWomen what part of GC did you go ? We are going to Maspalomas

pritchartcc · 09/04/2024 16:44

@brocollilover we booked as a last minute thing because September felt so far
We booked Rhodes in September as it was really expensive for summer

This was me oct half term in turkey.sunbathing in 28 degrees every day

brocollilover · 09/04/2024 16:45

it is what it is

just don’t spoil it for your partner

vincettenoir · 09/04/2024 16:47

There's nothing you can do in mid 30 degrees that you can't do in mid 20s. If anything you have more options and activities opened up to you.

RedPony1 · 09/04/2024 16:47

Just me, thinking 25 is BOILING 😂

catwithflowers · 09/04/2024 16:48

We were in Granada a week ago. The week before we went was 28 degrees and sunny. This week it's 25 degrees and sunny. When we were there it was between 8 and 10 degrees and poured down nearly every day. We also flew from Newcastle. But we had a brilliant time despite the wet and cold. Often you just have to make the best of things. We couldn't use the little pool at the apartment or make much use of the lovely garden but we still did loads of fun things spent a lot of time drinking wine and eating tapas 😂

To be fair we never sunbathe so all I really want is for the weather to be nice enough to sit out and eat lunch in short sleeves without being cold. Stay positive and enjoy yourselves!

OfMiceandWomen · 09/04/2024 16:48

We stayed at Puerto Mogán

Nevermind31 · 09/04/2024 16:51

In the canaries right now. 22-25 degrees.
it is actually much hotter in the sun.
it has been lovely.
but you do want a heated pool…

What site is that? It might not be reliable. BBC Weather forecast is not mid-30s!
