Woman on train!

paulhollywoodshairgel · 03/04/2024 23:39

On our way home from a day out. 2 hour train journey. Woman next to us spent the entire 2 hours talking loudly on speaker phone. 2 HOURS!!! Then she takes her trainers off and puts her feet across the aisle resting her feet on my husband's seat. Am I unreasonable for being pissed off?? Get some ear pods or just speak on the phone like a normal person!!?? Why are people so rude!!? I was about to ask her to move her feet when the train conductor asked her too as she was blocking the aisle. 10 mins later feet back up!!! Raging 😡

I would have embarrassed her by loudly asking her to move her feet because they smell.

Hahahaha this is brilliant!! Top idea Smile

If you want to make a phonecall on a train go to the vestibule area. Otherwise make it brief. Show some consideration.

MorrisZapp · 04/04/2024 11:42

Can someone explain the feet thing because I don't understand it. How can you put your feet on a person's seat if they are in it?

I loathe loud phone convos or video watching. I always sit in the quiet carriage so then I can just say 'excuse me, this is the quiet carriage' which always results in eye rolling but they usually pipe down.

cactidream · 04/04/2024 12:55

I HATE people talking on a speaker in public transport.
Are good manners missing these days?

If a journey is longer than 10/15min I would join the conversation

Blackcats7 · 04/04/2024 13:00

All the people asking why you or your husband didn’t say something well it’s a very british thing to seethe in silence.
Have a read of Very British Problems, really funny.

BlurpBlorp · 04/04/2024 13:04

Talking on speakerphone and playing music/videos without earphones seems to be more and more common where I live. Vaping in indoor public spaces too. It's infurating and so bloody disrespectful. Shoes off is just disgusting...

MushMonster · 04/04/2024 17:34

Tell her.
We have to stop being so polite. The number of people who jyst takes the mick is well on the rise.

MinervaMcGonagallsCat · 04/04/2024 17:36

Why did your DH not tell her to move her feet?

Allfur · 04/04/2024 17:38

I would have offered her some headphones, cf

paulhollywoodshairgel · 05/04/2024 00:03

Hi all. I didn't say anything because the train was rammed and if she'd kicked off we'd have had nowhere to go! If I could've moved we would have. I've attached a helpful diagram of how she had her feet up! She didn't have freakishly long legs, that's just my terrible artistry 😂😂

Exactly- you have to be careful these days or you might get stabbed

Really on a train with CCTV and an emergency line? If someone's threatening you on a train pull that cord/.

She was speaking a different language otherwise I would have!

Did you not say anything? Just decided to be angry instead?

A few years ago, a chap in the quiet carriage was having a loud conversation with somebody selling something, and after about half an hour he gave them his card number and PIN to complete the deal. I wrote down the card no and PIN. An hour or so later, as I got off the train, I gave him the piece of paper with the details on and suggested that he check his bank account and cancel his card, because about twenty random strangers now had access to his money.

Never heard of anyone having to give out their PIN number for a transaction!

DyddDewiSant · 05/04/2024 15:39

I once had someone like this near me on speakerphone and joined in the conversation...........they quickly ended the call. I was feeling brave as I was getting off at the next stop which was only a few minutes away!!!

Notamum12345577 · 05/04/2024 15:46

If she is resting her feet on your husbands seat, and he didn’t say anything, in mumsets world he must be having an affair with her. LTB

Allfur · 05/04/2024 16:25

Bloody hell I would have told her to get her feet off my seat

Arcadiusdonk · 05/04/2024 17:09

StormingNorman · 04/04/2024 00:32

The phone is annoying, the feet are a liberty. I’d have rested my hand on them…but then I do have a pass ag streak 😂

Pass ag- love it 😂.

poppyslashtulip · 05/04/2024 17:57

‘Could you take your feet off my seat please?’

How is that difficult? He’s every right to his space and should assert himself.

Itsdeepitsblue · 05/04/2024 18:07

I am not confrontational but I absolutely would have asked her to take her feet off my seat. Bloody cheek!

lto2019 · 05/04/2024 22:50

awitchoftroubleinelectricblue · 04/04/2024 01:32

Could you not just use your own voice and tell her to shut up and to move her feet?

Yes, why not say anything, fume about it and post on here? If no one says anything she will just continue - you shouldn't need to say anything but sometimes you have to.

As I said. Train was rammed and had 2 knackered kids with me. If she'd kicked off there was nowhere for either of us to go!

Kicked off in what way?

Was your husband worried she would physically assault him if he politely asked her to move her feet?

Sisforsmile · 05/04/2024 23:48

shame your DH didn’t have anything he could have rested on her feet. Times a handbag comes in handy! Failing that I’m surprised he did just push them off or you did keep moving in and out of your seat.

dizzydizzydizzy · 05/04/2024 23:52

She sounds absolutely insufferable.

You can't win. You really should have spoken to her but if you had, it would have ended badly.
