Rowling has immediately made statements supporting freedom of speech and despite complaints, Scottish police have said there is nil to prosecute. AIBU that the new Scottish Law will have little material impact ?

I just tried to post a new thread that I felt was perhaps one of the reasons this law was enacted, that is the fact that the suicide rate for trans people was higher than the average, the thread was deleted, I didn't really get a chance to look at the many responses except one that thought I was a trans person highjacking the site by stealth, I'm not, please see all my other posts. I'm not sure if it was deleted because I cut too close to a nerve or because mumsnetters thought I was not who I proclaimed I was.
However I stated that gender dysphoria was obviously a real thing but that enabling it wasn't the solution because others including myself were obviously going to reject it because myself and others feel biological sex is real, thus setting the person up for failure. That's it.

But that’s not a fact is it? This ‘fact’ has been disproved many times. Maybe that’s why your thread was deleted.

Trans people have high co-morbidities with a range of psychiatric disorders.one study suggested narcissistic PD was extremely frequent which I can well believe. Coming from a family with a high rate of psychiatric disorders suicide attempts and threats of suicide are not uncommon, completion however is a lot less common. Had a diagnosis myself with multiple suicide attempts, weirdly there was no-one rushing to affirm me and telling everyone to bend the world to my will to make sure I didn’t actually kill myself.

The point being people with personality disorders are often inherently unstable. Even if it were true that trans people had a higher rate of suicide the extraordinary levels of personality disorders amongst that cohort would suggest that being suicidal would have to do with their other diagnoses rather than being trans.

I don’t think theres enough focus on co-morbidities. It scares the life out of me that kids who should be treated for very real psychiatric problems have been put on the path to transition with the assumption being that the root cause is gender identity rather than it being a symptom of deeper problems.

I totally agree, I thought my thread was deleted because it was felt I was being unkind to trans, but yes in a nut shell this is a group that are already unstable. Affirming their view is harmful to them and as we have seen also harmful to women on general.

Maybe it has and maybe I think this is a fact because its pushed so often by trans people. I really cannot understand though why such a tiny percentage of the population feel they can change the world just for them and why so many fall for it.
