To ask is there a weird headache virus going around?

I've had this weird headache since Saturday. It started with stabbing pains from neck up. Travels around in different places. Comes and goes. It goes behind ears and jaw too. Sometimes like an electric shock I don't have a cough or anything but sinuses feel bunged. I usually have trouble with these anyway. I can breathe ok.
It's really scary. DH reckons it isn't a virus. I just have no idea? I'm hoping it is and it'll get better soon?
Ibuprofen helps.

I'm off work until the weekend anyway and have decided to do nothing today. I didn't do much yesterday but I'm going to really take it easy today.

Had anyone else had this or heard of it? Is DH right? I daren't ring 111 in case they send me to urgent care for something that's going around anyway.

Yes it could be COVID. I'm not at work until Sunday so hopefully I'll be better by then?

Myself.. daughter and teenage Grandkids all had/ Have it..
Lasts a few weeks..
I'm convinced it's a knock on effect from covid..
First signs when l got covid ( 4 times) was horrific headaches.

Dont rush yourself. I ended up taking a couple of extra days off and i felt a bit of a fraud. But i was so glad i did, when i went back. I was exhausted!

Sharontheodopolodous · 27/03/2024 11:32

My dp has just got over this

It flew round his workplace

Banging headache,unbelievably tired and snotty

He's not been ill in the whole time I've been with him

Even the dressing gown came out,so I knew it was bad-its just starting to feel a bit better

IncognitoMam · 27/03/2024 13:49

@ssd work will be very chill. It's only a late shift. There'll just be lots of chatting tbh. Tea will be easy as they're full of lunch 🙂

That sounds ok then. Im in retail, no rest for the wicked there!

Icannoteven · 27/03/2024 20:45

In my workplace a couple of us have had a sinus and ear infection (some people have had a chest infection in addition) that has taken 2-4 weeks to recover from. We had 4 team members down with the same thing within a month. All bacterial, all needed multiple courses of antibiotics.

I had it myself - had a 39 degree fever for four days that would not budge. It is very odd - not the usual sort of spreadable bug you get.

Celia24 · 27/03/2024 20:58

Yes OP, I've been suffering with this today!

IncognitoMam · 27/03/2024 21:03

I haven't had any stabbing pain today. Head just feels full and sort of hungover feeling.
I'm getting a filling replaced tomorrow. Not looking forward to that 😕

I had this last week! The stabbing pain in my neck woke me up during the night and I couldn't get back to sleep.
I also had the extreme headache and sore skin on just one side of my body. It was all very strange and I had to take a couple of days off work, which I never do.

It's moved on now and I just have a regular old cold and a cough which is entirely more manageable.

ssd · 27/03/2024 22:31

Good luck at the dentist @IncognitoMam , its usually not as bad as we think its going to be

ManchesterLu · 27/03/2024 22:35

The last couple of times I've had a virus, it's felt like I've had a cold but without the snot. Just headache/body aches/cough. Not covid. It's been so weird.

tobee · 27/03/2024 23:34

There's been 2 other similar weird viruses. Similar as in weird.

The 100 day cough/whooping cough one - Dh still has this although getting better

Then the headachey, hot, sicky feeling, lethargy one. Which ds & I have. Feels like constantly fighting something off.

I still have my appetite though; could do with not eating for a few days.

User3456 · 27/03/2024 23:41

Definitely worth doing a covid test, especially before going to the dentist, you could make the whole surgery ill if it's that, as it's so infectious.
Also worth wearing a mask on the bus , it's a sensible step to reduce the amount of times we get ill (wearing a mask doesn't mean you're anxious, just realistic and practical).
Really hope you feel better soon 💐

pickytube · 27/03/2024 23:48

I've experienced something similar but was wondering whether it was third trimester pregnancy related.

SpanishTale · 28/03/2024 07:55

2 weeks I've had it. Snotty nose. Tiredness. Shooting head pain. Colleagues have it too. Doesn't seem to be going anywhere.

IncognitoMam · 31/03/2024 10:33

@SpanishTale is your shooting pain moving about?
I'm still suffering been a week now. It's not quite as stabbing though.
Head feels very full.
I'm not particularly tired even though I have trouble getting to sleep. But I haven't been doing much just light chores. I'm at work today.

SpanishTale · 31/03/2024 14:45

Nah pain is shooting from neck to eye! Appears to be betterish but it's taken 2 weeks and I'm knackered. The GP did bloods and they're all OK.

IncognitoMam · 31/03/2024 22:27

That sounds like occipital neuralgia.
I've been at work just got in and so far feel a lot better. Just hope it lasts?

I have had a terrible headache come and go for the past few days and I don’t normally get headaches

inabubble3 · 31/03/2024 22:34

Had muscle aches, fatigue and a 2 week long headache- sometimes in my temple, sometimes the side of my head, sometimes the back of my head. Like you I got worried - I don’t often get headaches and if I do they’re gone within hours. It’s been a few weeks now since it’s gone so I think defo a cold/ flu sort of virus x x

Youmeandacupoftea · 31/03/2024 22:42

My DD (6) has this at the moment and has had it for about 2 weeks, complaining of headaches everyday and now snotty/bunged up and very lethargic :-(

Anotherparkingthread · 31/03/2024 22:56

I had this! I honestly thought something severe was wrong with me! Awful feeling. Like lots of pressure.

I didn't lose my appetite though I ate like a horse, blood sugar must have been all over the place.

I've been like this for 5 days. I've been wondering if it's menopause, over exercise, stress. I've been fatigued as well.

Same. It's so strange. Comes and goes for me.
