To ask is there a weird headache virus going around?

I've had this weird headache since Saturday. It started with stabbing pains from neck up. Travels around in different places. Comes and goes. It goes behind ears and jaw too. Sometimes like an electric shock I don't have a cough or anything but sinuses feel bunged. I usually have trouble with these anyway. I can breathe ok.
It's really scary. DH reckons it isn't a virus. I just have no idea? I'm hoping it is and it'll get better soon?
Ibuprofen helps.

I'm off work until the weekend anyway and have decided to do nothing today. I didn't do much yesterday but I'm going to really take it easy today.

Had anyone else had this or heard of it? Is DH right? I daren't ring 111 in case they send me to urgent care for something that's going around anyway.

Day 4 of a bouncing headache. Cold and shivery, feel like sleeping for a week.
Back at work tomorrow, I've taken so many days off in the last month to be home for my poorly dcs that I wouldn't dare take time off for me now!

I'm on day 8 of this and although my sinusus have cleared and pain over my eyebrow has gone, I now have tinnitus and my scalp feels sore. Did anyone else have this? Hope you're all feeling better by now!

I'm still feeling very congested. I hardly slept last night. Although I think menopause has something to do with it too. I kept feeling hot and pulse racing. Luckily the boss let me go home early today.

I have it currently. After a few days GP has diagnosed an ear infection and prescribed antibiotics. I started getting reduced hearing on one side and it felt like there was something in my ear. It's lousy and typical that it happens during the Easter holiday when I've managed to get some annual leave to do house/kid stuff.

For those of you still congested have you tried anti-histamines? A lot of your symptoms sound like hayfever and tree pollen has been consistently high since February.

Symptoms of hay fever
Hay fever symptoms can range from mild to severe and may vary depending on the allergen and the individual’s sensitivity. Seasonal allergies, often triggered by pollen, can cause symptoms during specific times of the year. However, some individuals may experience year-round symptoms due to allergens to indoor allergens.
Recognising the symptoms of hay fever and allergic rhinitis is crucial in managing its impact. Common signs and symptoms to look out for are:
Persistent and frequent sneezing is a common symptom of hay fever. People affected by allergic rhinitis often experience bouts of sneezing, especially when exposed to allergens such as pollen, dust mites, or pet dander.
Runny or stuffy nose (nasal congestion) can lead to difficulty breathing through the nose.
Itchy, red, and watery eyes (allergic conjunctivitiss_) are common symptoms in people living with hay fever. These symptoms can also cause discomfort and sensitivity to light.
Itchy throat or ears are often accompanied by irritation or a scratchy feeling.
Fatigue and irritability affecting overall energy levels and mood can often be experienced after prolonged exposure to allergens.

The most common hay fever symptoms include:
• Itchy eyes
• Sneezing
• A runny or blocked nose1.
However, the symptoms of hay fever can vary from person to person. Depending on the type of pollen allergy you have and its severity, you might experience:
• Red or watery eyes
• A itchy throat
• A cough
• A loss of smell
• Blocked sinuses resulting in facial pain
• Headache
• Earache
• Tiredness1.
Hay fever symptoms can be cold-like, but unlike a cold – which usually subsides within two weeks – hay fever can occur for longer when you’re in contact with your allergy trigger. Find out more about the differences between allergies and colds.

I thought it might be hayfever initially and tried antihistamines but no luck. Finally went to GP yesterday and he thinks it's a sinus infection that's turned bacterial. Started antibiotics and steroid nasal spray so fingers crossed it clears.

I tried anti histamines too, didn't make a difference.

VeryScary · 15/04/2024 08:14

I’ve got this at the moment - the pain at the base of my skull is horrible.

IncognitoMam · 05/05/2024 15:18

Hope you're ok now @VeryScary ?
