To ask is there a weird headache virus going around?

I've had this weird headache since Saturday. It started with stabbing pains from neck up. Travels around in different places. Comes and goes. It goes behind ears and jaw too. Sometimes like an electric shock I don't have a cough or anything but sinuses feel bunged. I usually have trouble with these anyway. I can breathe ok.
It's really scary. DH reckons it isn't a virus. I just have no idea? I'm hoping it is and it'll get better soon?
Ibuprofen helps.

I'm off work until the weekend anyway and have decided to do nothing today. I didn't do much yesterday but I'm going to really take it easy today.

Had anyone else had this or heard of it? Is DH right? I daren't ring 111 in case they send me to urgent care for something that's going around anyway.

I had this exactly and so did others at my work. It felt like my skull was sore, pains coming from the base at the back of my neck and behind my ears. Not at all like a normal headache. And just totally bunged up all the time but not sneezing or coughing. And totally lethargic too. I also lost my appetite.

Its the pits!!

It did pass in a few weeks but take it as easy as you can Flowers

@ssd thanks for replying. It makes me feel better knowing it isn't so unusual. Glad you're ok now.

I had something similar earlier this month. It completely wiped me out and I still have residual nerve pain in different parts of my body. The fatigue was like nothing I’ve experienced before. I hope you feel better soon.

IncognitoMam · 27/03/2024 08:52

Thank you @KateCrusader . I think it's the weirdness that's unsettling. I had a strange headache years ago when I had chicken pox but that was stabbing in one spot ml. I've been in contact with someone with shingles but that isn't contagious unless it's to get chicken pox.
I've also been using a bus with work as I do support and clients use the bus. So could have picked something up on there ?
I'm not paranoid about germs btw just pondering.

I've been like this for 5 days. I've been wondering if it's menopause, over exercise, stress. I've been fatigued as well.

Autienotnaughtie · 27/03/2024 09:13

This is slightly reassuring

Rockfordpeach · 27/03/2024 09:15

Me and DP have had this all week, bunged up and constant headache that painkillers aren't really helping.

IncognitoMam · 27/03/2024 09:17

Is your head pain moving about though? Mine is stabby but moving.

@Autienotnaughtie I'm post menopausal but dh said he thinks mine could be hormonal. I'm not convinced as it's come out of the blue.

IncognitoMam · 27/03/2024 09:18

@Rockfordpeach I hope you both start feeling better soon. Are you doing steam inhalation?

Mines more at the front and sinus pain. I've had some whole skull pain too

KateCrusader · 27/03/2024 09:25

@IncognitoMam I found using a nasal sinus rinse (the Neil Med one) really helpful, along with steam inhalation

IncognitoMam · 27/03/2024 09:26

@Autienotnaughtie doesn't sound like mine

Yes I do that. It's the stabbing in random places that's weird.

If you would describe it as the worst headache you've ever had then see a dr

ssd · 27/03/2024 09:35

Mine moved around too, but it was the pains at the back of my head that worried me, i thought I'd done something to my neck.

It felt like a headcold I'd never experienced before. I did a covid test but it was negative.

I bought a great nasal spray from tesco that really helped the bunged up nose called Otrivine blocked nose spray. It was around £4.50.

I had similar recently when I had covid (my DD is seriously immunocompromised so we still test).

No it comes and goes. It's the jumping around that worried me. I haven't had pain so far today just feel full headed. And haven't had pain relief yet. I'm resting in bed though.

I'm sorry to hear that about your DD. I hope she didn't catch it ?

I’m on week 5 , mainly the sinus thing now and the tiredness hitting suddenly

FlabMonsterIsDietingAgain · 27/03/2024 09:47

Pollen has been really high recently so could be hayfever.

pinkpetunias · 27/03/2024 09:47

I’ve got this currently, it’s been going around my office! Headaches, blocked sinuses, stuffy nose and no appetite

MigGirl · 27/03/2024 09:51

I would say it's possibly covid. I suffer from chronic migraine and whenever I've had covid I've had the worst headpain ever. When I've spoken to my headache nurse about it she has said most migraine suffers have reported server head pain with covid.

So even if you don't normally get headaches/migraine I think covid is most likely the cause. If it doesn't resolve though do go see your GP.

2chocolateoranges · 27/03/2024 09:54

Three quarters of my colleagues have been off work with sore ears and sinuses, mega sore head , achy pains all over body and lightheadedness too, my dd, ds and dh have all had it and all been off work & uni with it. Been left with a cough.
