This is MN so everyone will say I am BU and dogs should be banned but a golden lab pup came in a cafe when I was having lunch and I have lost my heart.

So AIBU to exchange my children for this adorable dog (not really but you know)

and even if you don’t like dogs AIBU to think you’d have loved him too!

There is a solid gold reason why puppies look so cute: they are arseholes.

I mean, I love dogs and intend to always have at least one - but puppies are the cutest little devils ever. They are such hard work for very little short term payback - they have to look cute so you don't just pop them out on the doorstop again to fend for themsleves

Some friends have just got a puppy who is the most sweet natured thing. I went to stoke him and he put his paw in my hand and I fell in love. So no, you would not be unreasonable to swap the kids for the puppy. I’m thinking of stuffing him under my coat and making a run for it next time I see him 😂. But I’m sure when he’s chewing up my furniture I’d send him back.

I go all gooey over puppies. Even though we have dogs at home! It's instinct I think, a bit like when some people see a human baby.

Either way YANBU to swap your children for a dog, but Retrievers are better than Labs.

Trust me, if you had to live with said puppy they’re not so cute after a while. Our now 1 year old golden retriever was the most gorgeous puppy, every passer by had to stop and say hello to her - even the bin men jumped out of their lorry one time to come for a cuddle! As sweet as she was they’re absolutely fucking exhausting and such hard work, worse than babies/toddlers in my opinion! Never again..

Not even slightly unreasonable. We still talk about the beagle puppy we met in the vets waiting room on holiday to cause us all to become so distracted we left our dogs passport at the vets, who at least tracked us down and we ended up driving a 6 hour round trip to retrieve it. When we got there we were so sorry, as vet had stayed open for us, but completely got it as she said that everyone, including staff were completely hopeless when that puppy was around.

I'm exactly the same. I saw a woman yesterday with 2 golden retriever puppies going for a walk and I just melted. She was very accommodating and let me say hello. She was taking them for a little walk but had got no further than 100 yards from her house because people kept stopping her to admire the puppies. ( She said she didn't mind because she was trying to socialize them, I did ask first)

My sister works for guide dogs so I get to meet lots of lovely tiny and not so tiny puppies so lovely and cute but wouldn’t want a puppy now, our dog is 4 this year he was very sweet as a puppy but it was full on

YANBU, puppies are the cutest thing ever (or on a par with kittens anyway!) and it's impossible not to love them.
That said, whilst they cute, and adult dogs are great, puppies are also a monument pain in the arse.

Golden Retrievers are the best dogs in the world. My very good friend who is a Golden says so.

I had this dog across from me on the tube the other day and it was all I could do to not steal it and run off (and I already have two dogs)
