Are the Americans stupid for allowing Biden to go for another term?

At Mr Biden's age, if I'm as fit and alert as he is, I'd be more than happy.

However, he is supposed to be a president and a president of a of a superpower. Therefore, you will agree with me the man is not cut out to be a president of a nation like the USA. He'd be ok for smaller countries that do not have an importance i the world like the USA but not for the uSA

IMO, those that are pulling the strings are actually hurting a half decent man. For the record, I'm nor for, not agaist his poltical party.

Possibly, some that are running the show, pulling the strings were hoping to step into Bidens shoes if he had a fall or a big moment, don't know.

AIBU to feel his is not the right man for the job?

It's a baffling choice imo.

Westfacing · 08/03/2024 17:03

I assume the Democrats feel he is the only one who can beat Trump, so in the circumstances he is the right man.

Tiswa · 08/03/2024 17:04

The problem is on both the democrat and republican side and it is Donald Trump. No up and coming republican (such as De Santos) wants to take him on so he is pretty much running by himself (as seen by what he has won). Then on the democrat side it firstly would take a brave person to take on the incumbent President but to then have to take on Trump.

all are biding their time for the 2028 election so we get Biden v Trump you have 2 men far too old

Changingplace · 08/03/2024 17:08

I can’t understand why they don’t have a different candidate to put forwards, it’s madness.

Justcallmebebes · 08/03/2024 17:09

There's many ways I'd describe Biden. Fit and alert isn't one of them!

It is odd. Then again they are stupid for voting for Trump

Zanatdy · 08/03/2024 17:10

In a country that size it’s absolute madness that these are the best 2 guys for the job? But then we can’t think they are mad for choosing Biden when this is a country that elected Trump, and likely will again. The world has gone mad

Herdinggoats · 08/03/2024 17:11

He makes trump look like a better option, which is fucking terrifying.

msmatcha · 08/03/2024 17:12

Trump and Biden. Truly baffling that these are the candidates.

Noicant · 08/03/2024 17:12

I struggle to get my head around the fact that out of a population of 300 million people this is the best they could do Biden is clearly not fit but Trump is just… I don’t even have the words for that one.

I know many of our politicians are not exactly brilliant but neither Starmer not Sunak appear to suffer from a personality disorder, stupidity or cognitive decline. You may not like their policies but you trust that they have a vague grip on reality.

x2boys · 08/03/2024 17:12

What amazes me is that out of the whole of America, Biden and Trump are the best two choices ?
It's mind blowing !

poetryandwine · 08/03/2024 17:13

No viable Democrat was willing to stand against Biden.

Assuming that he will be the Democratic nominee, the smartest thing Americans can do is to re-elect him. Consider the alternative.

There's many ways I'd describe Biden. Fit and alert isn't one of them!

He is at his age as more than 70% of the men and women I see aged 82 can barely walk and nor are they often capable of complex discussions, new items, many ite.s

Biden for his age is doing seriously well nd well above average for his age. However, he is not fit to be president of the USA . It saddens me to say this but he leaves himself up to massive ridicule all thanks to those who are pulling his strings

Noicant · 08/03/2024 17:14

I increasingly think Nikki Haley should run as an independent candidate.

Figgygal · 08/03/2024 17:15

Well it's not "Americans" putting up the candidates and it's a ridiculous that either Trump or Biden are the best the parties are putting forward.
Yes Biden should do the decent thing and withdraw due to his health and Trump shouldn't even be in the conversation but
I'd rather have Biden in over Trump any day!!!

Operationdark · 08/03/2024 17:16

Can you imagine how it feels to be an even vaguely intelligent American right now, I really feel for them

DirtyBlonde · 08/03/2024 17:16

Trump or Biden - frying pan or fire?

It's staggering that there are no other serious candidates - if Biden has said he wished to retire and had blessed another candidate, it wouldn't have been particularly difficult for the Democrats.

Trump isa law unto himself, and I really think that he's going to win.

DirtyBlonde · 08/03/2024 17:18

Just googled to check when the election is - Bonfire Night

Seems fairly apt - shame we don't have a Guy Fawkes to send them Grin

Changingplace · 08/03/2024 17:08

I can’t understand why they don’t have a different candidate to put forwards, it’s madness.

There doesn't exactly seem to be people clamouring to take his place though.

BoohooWoohoo · 08/03/2024 17:19

I read on here that Democrats never challenge a sitting Democrat president so this may be why he’s running again.

I understand why no Republicans are really challenging Trump too. I think that he will always try to get that second term in and it will be easier to be a Republican nominee endorsed by Trump than being attacked by him because he wants his second term.

Soubriquet · 08/03/2024 17:20

Rather Biden than Trump TBF

EasternStandard · 08/03/2024 17:20

It’s an interesting battle

It comes up on the radio and I nearly always listen to commentary

Not sure who will win, maybe Trump

poetryandwine · 08/03/2024 17:21

An independent candidate has never come close to winning an American election. If polls showed reliably that Haley would take more votes from Trump I might support the idea, but it is risky.

We are where we are. This is the umpteenth American bashing poll when actually there is a real risk that Trump could win and put democracy in the world’s largest superpower at risk. I am beginning to think these threads are started by Trump stooges

coldiris · 08/03/2024 17:24

It's probably not just the Americans but the entire world that should be concerned to have someone like him as the president of the military superpower that has nuclear weapons! His cognitive decline is obvious to most people, who have been paying any attention to what's going on in the world and the only hope there is that I suspect he doesn't actually do much in the way of his presidential duties and it's all the various departments and their chiefs, who actually do the work and manage the day-to-day affairs related to the running of the country!

phoenixrosehere · 08/03/2024 17:24

There is a democrat running against Biden for the seat who is very much in line with Bernie Sanders (she endorsed him before), and I hope she wins tbh even if it is a long shot, Marianne Willamson.
