Am I actually filthy?!

just now, DH was getting ready for bed with the bathroom door open. I happened to see him randomly wash his hands.

me “are you….are you washing your hands BEFORE you wash your face?”
him “well yes of course”
me “what?”

he hadn’t been to the loo or something he was just going about his normal business previously. I am now worried that I have been washing my face all wrong and somehow missing this totally pivotal hygienic step 🙈🤣🤦🏻‍♀️

do people wash their hands before washing their face?!?

I just go to bed, and wash my face in a morning at the same time as I wash my hands.

I’m more impressed that you are getting ready for bed just now. Unless you are in a different time zone of course.
I always wash my hands before I touch my face.

Yes I wash my hands before I wash my face. I don’t always wash my face though, if I’m really tired I just take off my eye makeup. So I’m not that clean!

I legit did not know that this was a thing and I’m shocked. I’m 32 I didn’t know about this - it’s like one of those eye opener moments.

I always get ready for bed relatively early to stop myself from snacking and so I can just sleep whenever!

It's not something I've actually thought about but I do usually go to the loo (and wash hands) first before brushing teeth and washing. So I guess I do it by default rather than actively planning it.

It's not something I thought about before now but yes I'm the same as your husband.
It just seems automatic rather than deliberate.

If you are soaping up your hands to wash your face I don't really see how deliberately washing your hands before that makes a blind bit of difference.

That and the fact that everyone is constantly unconsciously touching their face means it really isn't worth thinking about.

I got ready at 8.
Usual routine:
Showered, wash hair, blow dry hair, clean pj’s. Child (bathed at 7) and dog to bed. DH banished to his music room, glass of wine and Erin Brockovich…… and relax!

It depends how often you wash your hands generally, I suppose. I always wash mine when I come in from outdoors, and after eating, cooking etc so it probably wouldn’t occur to me to wash them at random if I’d just been sitting on the sofa in between washing them after dinner and starting bedtime routine.

I lather up my hands and wash my face with them, then surely you're cleaning both at once?

I don’t wash my face other than in the daily shower. I take my make up off, if wearing it with cleanser. I’ve never even considered washing my face before bed,

but getting ready for bed at 8 for me is surprisingly early.

So glad there's somebody else that has to have two pees before bed 😂

My routine is
Pee
Wash hands and Wash face
Brush teeth
Get into bed
Scroll phone for half an hour or so
Return to bathroom for final pee
Then sleep

But no I wouldn't make a conscious effort to wash my hands before washing my face

I usually wash my face when I’m in the bath and lather soap and wash body before cleansing face with Liz Earle so yeah I guess I do.

Yes, I do wash my hands before washing my face. I have to get my hands wet anyway and a quick lather takes no time at all.

I'm so confused, surely if you are washing your face you already have soaped up your hands and so they are clean? I agree with the above who say that by default it's washing hands then face. I pee, run the tap, lather my hands, quick rinse and then lather face. Im probably filthy compared to others though as I hate washing my hair (can get away with it once per week!) and I don't shower every day

Sometimes I do if I’ve been doing something where I know my hands are a bit dirty but generally no!
