just now, DH was getting ready for bed with the bathroom door open. I happened to see him randomly wash his hands.

me “are you….are you washing your hands BEFORE you wash your face?”
him “well yes of course”
me “what?”

he hadn’t been to the loo or something he was just going about his normal business previously. I am now worried that I have been washing my face all wrong and somehow missing this totally pivotal hygienic step 🙈🤣🤦🏻‍♀️

do people wash their hands before washing their face?!?

Only because, like some others on here, I have a wee first. I use an oil based cleanser at night and if I was to go straight to having a wash I would just put the cleanser on with unwashed hands and then water. I am always washing my hands and think I overwash them, so they would have been washed fairly recently if that were to happen - can't actually remember ir ever happening though

I wash my hands before I brush my teeth and then I wash my face.

I shower before bed, I don't understand people who don't.

@Devonshiregal It only stays neat whilst everyone is asleep, but it’s definitely my quiet time. My desk is currently covered in squishmallows, DD has infiltrated our study before school and they’re all lined up staring at me. 😆

My routine is

Pee
wash hands
brush teeth
wash face with foaming cleanser
apply serum and night cream

Because people are different to you and have different lives, values and experiences? We are not all part of the collective.

MIL showers at night but not in the morning. I wouldn't want to go to bed with damp hair (and I have a good wash anyway). I wouldn't judge her for it.

I go to the toilet and wash my hands, turn clean my teeth, then go to bed. Unless I'm wearing makeup on which case I would take my makeup off after going to the toilet. I do not wash my face at night generally, just in the morning.

I'm amazed at the people who need to shower before bed. Do you all work down t'pit?

Just works out easier as I exercise after work so exercise, cook, shower, bed

Isn't the act of washing your face also washing your hands?

This thread has made me feel better though because I didn’t know some people don’t wash their face at night and that feels somehow worse than what I’m supposedly doing wrong 🤣

I deffo wash my hands before I wash my face, so I don't rub dirt into my face!

At night I wash my face in the shower so that makes it easier.

In the morning I do wash my hands first.

Depends what you use. Mine is a balm cleanser so not really as I put a bit in my hand then take it off with a hot flannel

I recommend blowing nose straight after washing face though - much more effective!

I don't wash my face except for in the shower (I don't wear makeup)

I don't even wash my face unless I'm in the shower and even then I don't wash it every time! I look about 15 years younger than I am and don't wear makeup or put any creams on so I'm comfortable with my decision!

I don't wash my face, don't wear makeup. I find that splashing it with the hard water here just makes it feel tight so then I'd need to moisturise. Can't be doing with that at night! Only wash it when I have a bath.

I don't know what's the matter with you people. I have a full Karcher jet wash before I even step into the bathroom. Then a shower, a bath, wipe down with pure alcohol, autoclave my tits and then shower again. Doesn't everyone?

You don’t go to bed with dirty hands do you? Unless you have been erm, doing things, your hands are clean enough to wash your face in the morning!

For me its not worth spending the time showering and drying hair in the evening, I’m too tired and can’t be bothered, plus I have really fine hair and get hot in bed so I wake up feeling yukky with my hair all over the place anyway. My routine is get undressed as quickly as possible, throw clothes into laundry basket /onto chair depending on cleanliness , pee and clean my teeth , sink thankfully into bed with a book which I then fall asleep reading ! I rarely wear make up any more so face washing waits for a shower in the morning.
