Is just infuriating ?

Why would a person think this is acceptable ?

I've mentioned it so many times, but it continues.

Make him a testicle sandwich and then LTB.

Hermittrismegistus · 01/03/2024 09:18

What do you mean? He rips the middle of the wrapper open?

FetchezLaVache · 01/03/2024 09:20

That's beyond infuriating. Does he really lack the patience to open the bread in such a way that it can be resealed? He is BVVVVVVVU. That must waste so much bread!

Is he impatient in other ways?

coureur · 01/03/2024 09:21

As in he rips the loaf in half? Does he fancy himself as a strongman but isn't quite ready for a telephone directory yet?

Yummymummy2020 · 01/03/2024 09:22

this would drive me mad op!!!!and is why you should live with someone before you marry them in case habits like this appear😂😂😂

Picklestop · 01/03/2024 09:23

I am not sure if I an understanding what you mean. Do you mean an unsliced loaf that he tears in half with his bare hands and eats chunks?

ErrolTheDragon · 01/03/2024 09:24

The wrapper or the loaf?
Either way obviously unacceptable

TeaAndStrumpets · 01/03/2024 09:24

How does he open a packet of crisps? Maybe he's a bit confused.

MinervatheGreat · 01/03/2024 09:25

My chap used to open potato bags at the bottom so when I grabbed the bag at the top, they all fell out. Same with carrots.
It drove me insane.

I’ve got him trained now to do it “properly” and intuitively but I feel your pain OP.
If there’s a new loaf to open, could you do it your way, in advance? 🙄

I'm married to a monster as well.

Ripping the plastic bag in the middle, you mean? I do have a bit of sympathy - those tapes on the end are a fiddle to open. He should be finding a way to keep the bread from going hard afterwards though (I’d put it in a big food bag).

I'm married to a monster as well.

DH opens cereal like this.

Every time I see another box torn in to I have to stop myself from beating him to death.

Don't think I can hold off much longer.

Hahahaha this made me LOL.

A sliced loaf of bread, he rips the plastic in the middle. Rather than removing the little tag and then opening it.

Is there something actually wrong with him Shock?

WTF??????

Why on earth does he do that? What does he say to justify this really bizarre (and stupid) habit?

lalaloopyhead · 01/03/2024 09:36

What a strange thing to do...what does he have to say about this?? Does the bread nto get slightly mangled in the process? Does it then not go stale and there is no way to wrap it up? so many questions!

Also deepest sympathies to the spouses of box rippers - I honestly can't see the need for this at all - do they just grab the corner of the box and rip it, or is there some vague attempt of opening it properly with the flap?

I am feeling somewhat thankful for my husband who manages to access food items without such destruction.

Oh how weird, doesn’t it all fall out then?

coffleecup · 01/03/2024 09:37

He just finds taking the tag off too difficult.

I know it's a bit annoying, but I always manage to take the tag off.

ICanSeeMyHouseFromHere · 01/03/2024 09:39

That's mad.

And I thought I had it bad with my ex and my eldest son (not my youngest thank goodness) who rip open wrap packets at the top, instead of peeling open at the clearly labelled 'RESEALABLE- OPEN HERE' opening.

ErrolTheDragon · 01/03/2024 09:41

We don't buy sliced bread any more but when we did DH was a bag ripper. It may be because he doesn't have fingernails (i mean no whites, he's a biter) - I find the tags easy to deal with but I think if I'd got no nails I'd need a knife. I'd sometimes preemptively open the bag and put a clippit on

Same may apply to cardboard boxes. That mangled honey nut packet must have taken more effort than raising the flap.

I get the the tags can be annoying - but wouldn't it make more sense to rip it at the tag end and then at least once a couple of slices are removed there might be enough bag to kind of tuck in to to keep fresh.

I am actually so intrigued by this behavoiour I need to know more!

RedPony1 · 01/03/2024 09:42

So how does he reseal it after he has got his slices?!

Mumoftwo1312 · 01/03/2024 09:42

Suggest he use a pair of scissors to snip the end of the wrapper off? Then put the loaf in a new bag...

Does he struggle with other fine motor skills? Can he, say, turn a key in a lock?!
