Feeling a bit stuck in a rut, I don’t think the time of year helps but I want to start making little changes to get my sparkle back. Any ideas? What little things do you do to perk yourself up?

Go to my knitting groups, they’re lovely cheery sessions.

Lie in bed reading with one of my cats sprawled on my legs.

A glass of very good red wine and one square of organic dark chocolate. If the chocolate has some stem ginger in it, and the wine has a proper pepper aftertaste, all the better.

HappyAsAGrig · 22/02/2024 20:56

Seed catalogues. I love planning summer gardens.

My garden backs onto woods. I absolutely love sitting in the living room watching the birds and the squirrels (especially). It really does make me happy. Hope you’re feeling better soon OP x

If you can, get a rescue animal. I have three kittens who were all rescues and they joy they bring me is so unexpected. I love cats but I never knew they would love me so, so much or watching them become so healthy would make me feel so content. I love being indoors with them.

I love sitting in bed under the duvet,,reading with the window open, my beautiful bulldog snoring next to me - I can spend hours like this!

1 square (foot) of chocolate
Nice hand wash (doesn't have to be pricey just a gorgeous smell)

LemonLight · 22/02/2024 21:03

The bird feeder. It hangs outside one of my windows and when it's stocked up with tasty bird seeds it's absolutely buzzing with pretty little birds and I love stopping every time I pass the window to note the different species, and watch them flit around and listen to them chatter.

SocksAndTheCity · 22/02/2024 21:04

A hot coffee and a bar of chocolate whilst having a hot bath and reading my phone or a book. Candles lit too of course.

Letting cat snuggle in bed with me under blankets.

Heated blanket on bed before getting in.

At the moment it’s having a can of Pepsi and a bar of chocolate in my car for my long commute home. It makes me feel good sitting in that traffic but having something nice with me.

Round3HereWeGo · 22/02/2024 21:09

Having my nails done. Can look down and see how nice they look when I'm feeling shit. I'm not 'girly' in any other way.

Holding my partners knee when he is driving and vise versa

That first coffee in the morning. We use a cheap milk frother from Amazon and a cheap mokka pot, also amazon and have a latte in the morning. Feels like a lovely way to start the day. Drink it in bed and just relax til it's time to start the day
