Feeling a bit stuck in a rut, I don’t think the time of year helps but I want to start making little changes to get my sparkle back. Any ideas? What little things do you do to perk yourself up?

Dogs. We don’t currently have one of our own but have a very dogful life.

LightDrizzle · 22/02/2024 21:13

Birdsong.
Seeing my plants grow.

Silly antics of my cats

PinkiOcelot · 22/02/2024 21:20

My little dog. I love her so much and she loves me. I lost my mam in August and I got her in October. She came along at the right time and makes me feel happy.

Good, hot coffee
Chocolate
A glass of cold milk
People who are considerate when driving, makes such a difference
Receiving a very funny meme from someone

Blackcountryexile · 22/02/2024 21:22

Finding a book I've been looking for in the library.
Reading while I eat a couple of squares of Lidl dark chocolate with hazelnuts.
Seeing spring flowers start to come up.

PeloMom · 22/02/2024 21:25

Smell of freshly made coffee first thing in the morning
smell of freshly washed sheets at the end of a tiring day
planning something fun for the weekend

Lovelyjubbbly · 22/02/2024 21:25

Bubble bath
bed watching movies

Shiveringinthecountry · 22/02/2024 21:29

Getting into bed with cold feet, draping my legs over a very large pillow and warming my feet on a hot water bottle. Then I settle into YouTube 😁

DontWasteMyTime · 22/02/2024 21:30

Baking.
Wearing a bright top or dress.
A new lipstick.
Listening to music, singing along to it.
A manicure, having my nails painted a bright colour.
Feeding the ducks at the park.
A cream cake.
Looking at old photographs.
Having my hair cut or coloured.

DontForgetToBreathe · 22/02/2024 21:34

Drawing. Sketch something. It always feels like a silent conversation with the universe.

Morningtimeride · 22/02/2024 21:36

Music, books, gardening, red wine, good food, theatre trips, restaurants, getting together with family.

heartsinvisiblefury · 22/02/2024 21:38

My dog
Candles
Sauvignon Blanc
Crochet
Pyjamas
A comfy bed
Bounty bars

Moreorlessmentallystable · 22/02/2024 21:39

Cuddles from my husband and kids, cooking with my favourite music on, getting together for a catch up with friends, a good nigh sleep, a chill day on the sofa with the fire on and my favourite candle burning, good food, sunshine ☀️

piscofrisco · 22/02/2024 21:41

Cuddle with a dog
The old classic clean sheets

When everyone is out and I have the house to myself, even for half an hour...absolute bliss😊

AstralSpace · 22/02/2024 21:41

Going out pretty much anywhere. Especially the woods for a walk. Trees are amazing.
Wildlife
Coffee
Books
Seeing family and friends

Blanketbaby7 · 22/02/2024 21:43

Having a cuppa in my sara miller mugs. I just think they're beautiful.

Skyoverwater · 22/02/2024 21:44

A solid clunky silver cafetière and good coffee with local honey in the morning.

i like planning little projects in my home - even really small things like repurposing a corner for my DC or reorganising and decluttering an area, or daydreaming about creative ideas…..

buying a few pleasing magazines and cutting out pics, phrases and putting on a notice board which i can add to over time

having (literally) just a few nice crockery pieces and something (even plastic) that my dc like for themselves - and nice placemats.

I love tarot cards and I pull one most mornings and muse over meaning and sometimes listen to a really positive podcast on it - it acts as a solace/point of interest more than anything it expands my perspective a bit beyond my own regular mental grooves.

I love sitting in bed under the duvet,,reading with the window open, my beautiful bulldog snoring next to me - I can spend hours like this!

Swap the bulldog for my cats and this would be mine

Strawberrycheesecake7 · 22/02/2024 21:46

Taking my dog for a walk, reading a book, having a long hot shower, sleeping in, getting a take away.

kerstina · 22/02/2024 21:47

Walking barefoot along the shoreline.
Cup of coffee and chocolate covered nuts
seeing mum smile or laugh ( doesn’t do it much these days as she has dementia. )
Watching reality tv like love island ( pure escapism) or the doghouse
looking at ideas for holidays

Purplecatshopaholic · 22/02/2024 21:47

Lying in my bed with a book or my iPad and however many of my dogs and cats want to join me. Utter bliss.
See also, walking my dogs, listening to my cats purring, buying shoes, reorganising my wardrobe, watching make up tutorials on YouTube.

Pigglyplaystruant99 · 22/02/2024 21:47

Fresh, air dried sheets.
A tidy house
Plants
When a child starts driving and picks YOU up 😄
When the lawn is mowed
Changes in natural light
Buds on trees
Nature - it's just wonderful
Animals communicating to one another

but nothing tops walking my dog, seeing her happy, and when she engages with me with her eyes. It's just us communicating, in our own well trained world. We've put in the practice. We train every day. She gets me, I get her. Wonderful.

RatatouillePie · 22/02/2024 21:53

A good book

Duolingo

Playing the piano or drums

Walking with loud music

My vibrator 😂

Going to the gym

Planting some seeds.

Painting a picture. Like an online tutorial.

Skipping rope

Trampoline without the kids on it!
