Looking at the notes in my phone, last June was the last proper/heavier period, July light bleed, October light bleed, January-one day bleed etc Is this just normal signs of Peri? The other months are no bleeding

I’m 48 and have periods every 25-28 days. It’s a shorter, more regular cycle than when I was younger.

QueenBean22 · 11/02/2024 22:11

Mine are every 22 days. Seem to be getting lighter but about 5 days. Every so often I’ll have a monster heavy period and bleed through everything

Annoyingremixes · 11/02/2024 22:12

Should I be worried that I’m rarely bleeding?

OP posts:
Annoyingremixes · 11/02/2024 22:13

I’m 46, is this too young?
Dont really have other signs aside from some moodiness/anger but pretty much always had this on and off!

OP posts:
coloursquare · 11/02/2024 22:14

Mine are lasting longer

Chickoletta · 11/02/2024 22:15

Talk to your GP if worried but that seems reasonable to me - your body is getting ready for menopause.

Mine are irregular but generally a much shorter cycle than I’ve ever had before. I’ve been on HRT for about a year and love it.

NoWordForFluffy · 11/02/2024 22:16

I'm 47. I think the best description is all over the fucking shop! Probably for the last 18-24 months.

Light, heavy (for me), barely there. Long, short. Every 2 weeks, 4 weeks, 10 weeks, 4 months. I never know what I'm getting or when. Keeps
me on my toes, I suppose! 🙄

StStephensTower · 11/02/2024 22:16

I am 46 and still as regular as when I was in my 20's. No peri signs yet that I know of!

HardcoreLadyType · 11/02/2024 22:17

I’m 55. Periods still going strong, although I missed one last summer and thought it might be over, but sadly, not.

Gymmum82 · 11/02/2024 22:18

I’m 42. Mine are regular but short 1-2 days max. The first day is very heavy. Like it all comes out in that one day. Then stops. Feels early but I have a whole heap of perimenopause symptoms so I guess this is it

Punxsatawnyphil · 11/02/2024 22:19

Every 28 days, medium flow most months.
Evey 4-6 months it'll be a 40 day cycle with awful PMT, pain and dreadfully heavy flow.

Annoyingremixes · 11/02/2024 22:19

Doesn’t seem that commonplace? If no other obvious signs, should I be worried? Could it be peri and I could possibly have years and years of the same?

OP posts:
daffodilandtulip · 11/02/2024 22:19

I've 43 and it's been absolute chaos for a few years now. Three a month, then nothing for three months, then regular one day affairs every 21 days 🤷🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️

honeyandfizz · 11/02/2024 22:20

47 and regular as clockwork, no peri symptoms yet, periods unchanged.

Maverickess · 11/02/2024 22:21

Irregular after being clockwork for 20 years (after having my DD) last 3/4 years my periods got lighter and were 26-29 days apart, 3 days of light bleeding.
Now I can have one like that, then go 6/7/8 weeks and then have a heavy one like my teen years with lots of large clots, then a light 'show' a week later.
Feel like I'm going mad because I've always suffered with PMT but it was a 'routine' but now it's just whenever rather than predictable.
Bloods however were normal and at 44 (45 mid this year) apparently I'm too young. My depression has been fine for years, it's still fine now except for the temporary low mood around a bleed, it's anxiety, which I've never really suffered with that's the killer. I've never had panic attacks before, they're fun aren't they?!
But obviously it can only be my previous mental health issues because I'm still having periods 🤷🏼‍♀️🤦

NoWordForFluffy · 11/02/2024 22:23

You're not too young, @Maverickess. Peri can last 10 years, and the average age of menopause (periods actually stopping) is 51. So you're well within that potential timeframe.

I think once you're 45, they're more inclined to diagnose from symptoms. Blood tests are unreliable anyway. I'd gen up on the NICE guidelines and go back in your shoes.

Tumbleweed101 · 11/02/2024 22:26

I’m 47, slightly shorter cycle 24 days instead of the regular 28 day one I had most of my life. Still bleed about the same although occasionally heavier. I’m done though, can’t wait for them to
stop at this point.

Toppppop · 11/02/2024 22:29

45 and very heavy. Always been and still are irregular

TinyRebel · 11/02/2024 22:30

45 soon. Regular as clockwork every 28 days. Flooding on day 2 only and very inconvenient, period lasts around 7 days in total. Still ovulating, have EWCM then mittleschmerz around day 14. Was sterilised during CS with DC3 at 35 and so no hormonal contraception (or HRT).
Weirdly, was v irregular and up to 35 day cycle before DC.

FieldInWhichFucksAreGrownIsBarren · 11/02/2024 22:31

45 and have regular periods every 28-30 days, every few months I have a major heavy bleed and have started spotting between periods. Wish they'd just fuck off now tbh.

motherofkevinnotperry · 11/02/2024 22:33

46 and they've been erratic for 4 years.

Annoyingremixes · 11/02/2024 22:35

@motherofkevinnotperry Do you have less with longer months with none?
Getting a bit worried as most on here don’t seem to have that?

Check your iron/folate levels OP. I had a miscarriage over lockdown and bled heavily for a whole week. I was diagnosed with severe anemia last year and although I eventually got other symptoms, irregular periods and spotting out of nowhere were some of them. I do wonder why they didn't check my levels after the miscarriage as I was put on anti-depressants instead of folate...

Currently I get irrationally angry around 3 days before it arrives, I usually realise around midday this means it is on it's way. Medium flow day 1 and 2 then tapers off for 3 and 4. I think it is usually still within 3 days of where it should be.

MsButterfly · 11/02/2024 22:35

I’m 42 and mine have been chaotic for years, probably since arrival of DS3 8 years ago. Usually appearing every 2/3 weeks but being short and light, interspersed with occasions where it doesn’t show up for 3-4mths.

Currently in the longest period (ironic word for it!) of this - it’s coming up to 6 months since I had my period. I have a GP appointment (blood, sweat and tears spent to get a phone call 🙄) booked to discuss but expect it’s definitely peri if not full menopause.

I understand it’s only considered early menopause if you’re under 45 so OP you’re definitely not too young.

mehyeahok · 11/02/2024 22:36

I mention the miscarriage because I assumed it was because of that I was irregular and missing some periods (ex had left me by then so def wasn't pg!). The symptoms of the anemia do sound similar though.
