...to want to throttle dh?

He's got a cold aka the dreaded man flu. I've been looking forward to Easter weekend for soooo long, a bit of company, a bit of help with 10month ds, family time etc. Ha! He took a day off work yesterday, sat around, napped during the day (luxury) while I took ds out and about. Today, when he's a little better, and wouldn't have been at work anyway, he's worse. Lolling about on the sofa, watching rugby, coughing and spluttering in a suspiciously forced manner, talkiing in a poorly voice. So, again, I've had to entertain ds, even though its pissing down outside and there's bugger all to do. And we're going away tomorrow, so I've also had all the washing and packing to do. he says he can't help being ill, which is true, but my point is, I can't have a day off when "I'm just sooo tired, I just want a little nap". Why do we have to carry on and they get to act like they've got the plague.
I do know that actually I'm being a cow, I just wanted a rant

And now he has actually gone back to bed....

OP posts:
Divastrop · 21/03/2008 16:48

you are not being a cow.tell him if he's that ill that he needs bed rest then he really out to be in hospital.if he doesnt feel he needs the hospital then he can have some lemsip and get on with it like you have to.

tell him fresh air is the best thing for a cold,so he should take ds out for a walk.a bit of rain never hurt anyone

queenofthedumbquestion · 21/03/2008 16:53

I have told him to go the the bloody doctor/hospital if he's that fecking ill, but he gets all martyr-sih, and says "Oh, but you need help with ds". Eh???????????? He tried a walk - came back after five minutes cos it started to snow

awww......poor man....he has 'man flu', which I have heard can be fatal in certain places, especially around the full moon and in house with rampant PMT!!!!

.

well, if that were MY DH, then I may have to conveniantly forget to pack any clothes for him, citing 'man-flu made me forget itis'...

mehdismummy · 21/03/2008 17:04

ah men such a pathetic species!

readytoswiggin · 21/03/2008 17:07

Ah well, if he's that ill, surely it's best if he stays home while you have fun with ds on holiday. but don't forget his bank card & pin

CaptainUnderpants · 21/03/2008 17:08

Oh No ! Men cant have Lemslip = that's only for us ladies .

Men need checking every 15 min , hot soup , mopping of brow , watching TV , every whim MUST be answered !

NO NO NO lemsip is for us only - to keep us going through childcare, work, housework etc etc
You cant expect a man to do that !

Really pissed of myslef as I have been feel;ing like sghit today , blinding headache and DH has done F**k all with two very loud boys today . In the end I took them out to get peace and quiet - quietier out than in !

Bollocks - it has just started lashing down and my washng is still out - ah well most of it is DH , so it can stay out

queenofthedumbquestion · 21/03/2008 17:10

He's now been in bed for 40 minutes. I've tried playing with ds noisily (in, "I'm such a good, fun mummy" manner) but he's managed to sleep thrpugh us. Shall I wake him, or leave him till its bathtime, and then make him feel really guilty? And act like a bitch all evening

Don't you just hate the pathetic 'feel sorry for me' voice they put on and the weak ridiculous coughing they do! Honestly, they're hopeless.

And the way they act like they're soldiering on, and us women could never understand such pain. Cos childbirth was great fun. Why are they like this? I'm actually so angry I feel like crying. Had the week from hell with teething buggy-rage ds, and was really looking forward to letting off steam with Davina for just 40 minutes. Never mind...

Have you seen this? It might raise a smile at least re his man flu!

CaptainUnderpants · 21/03/2008 17:21

you could always come down with 'Woman Flu' on Sunday .

Woman Flu = nothing wrong with you but revenge time on men for all the time they whimped when they had 'Man flu'. You suddenly make a recovery by Sunday teattime - aslong as he has cooked tea !

mybrainaches · 21/03/2008 17:22

arghhh, sorry, left the window open, looks like ds has been playing

CaptainUnderpants · 21/03/2008 17:23

Oh and in answer to your thread title - YANBU

queenofthedumbquestion · 21/03/2008 17:24

Ha ha. Raised a chuckle. Would show it to dh on his emergence, but he'd get all moody. I don't take him seriously enough, apparently, and I act like he does it on purpose. Can't I see he's suffering?

OP posts:
betterhalf · 21/03/2008 17:26

My DH had 'man flu' the other week and I could cheerfully have killed him a number of times over. Mainly when I'd just got ds ( 8 weeks old) drifting back off to sleep in the middle of the night after having fed him to have DH cough all pathetically and wake ds up!

JaneHH · 21/03/2008 17:26

(Think the whole of Mumsnet is trying to watch that video now - it's taking AGES to download will watch it in a mo)

I can sooo sympathise, OP, what IS it with men?! Personally I think it's the whole Indiana Jones syndrome: fearlessly cutting swathes through ancient Egyptian tribes and wrestling dusty mummies (not MN mummies ) but then wincing in agony when love interest dabs some Dettol on a cut

queenofthedumbquestion · 21/03/2008 17:34

He's even managing to sleep through ds's screaming protest against food that has lumps in. But now, I start to panic that there is something really wrong with him.... Pah, I'm useless

LittleWonder · 21/03/2008 17:34

anyone else watch the farting women on that link?
