I bought a t shirt worth 3£ and paid postage 3£ from vinted , sender said she sent it next day with evri and I got the the tracking number . It’s been stuck in transit for 3 weeks now , 2 weeks ago I got a fee to pay card , saying sender didn’t pay enough postage . I have to pay 7£ more to get it delivered ! Is this fair ? Can I refuse it and they will send it back to her or will I still have to pay for it for sending it back to sender ? Thanks for any advice

The fee to pay card is from Royal Mail . How does that work if she sent it with evri ?!

Mark as not received.

Poppyseed14 · 08/01/2024 13:08

She can't have sent it through Vinted/Evri then. What does your tracking say on Vinted?

Fieldofbrokenpromises · 08/01/2024 13:09

I don't know Vinted inside out but presumably you can just claim your payments back from them as the item has not been delivered.

Poppyseed14 · 08/01/2024 13:09

The Royal mail thing could be something entirely different and a possible scam?

FeelingSoOverwhelmed · 08/01/2024 13:09

If the card is from Royal Mail but your vinted tracking is evri how do you know it's the same item? When you click on your tracking through vinted what does it say?
Sounds a bit dodgy... But I would contact Vinted for advice.

Contact the buyer, no way a £3 t shirt costs £7 via Royal mail, sounds like some weird scam.

LumpyPumpkin · 08/01/2024 13:10

If you have an Evri tracking number then it hasn't been sent with Royal Mail. The card is either for a different parcel that's been sent via Royal Mail or possibly a scam.

Yes as pp said they must be two different parcels - if you have an evri tracking no the seller can’t have sent it Royal Mail so any Royal Mail cards would be for another parcel (or someone trying their luck if the url to pay the extra looks dodgy?)

Ilovebees · 08/01/2024 13:13

That’s from vinted tracking . In transit since 19/12/2023 and still showing this now

Try tracking it on evri's own website with the tracking details you have. Sometimes they show more than the vinted side showd. Then I'd message Vinted to say you've not had it. The royal mail thing is something different. Not to do with this

Ilovebees · 08/01/2024 13:14

On evri website it shows the same tracking info as on vinted 😊 thanks everyone for helping , I haven’t ordered anything from Royal Mail so that’s suspicious , 7£ must be like medium parcel

Are you sure the Royal Mail card isn’t for some other parcel you’re expecting?

A Royal Mail parcel will have a postcode and house number on the certificate of posting, so check with the seller how they sent it.

KingsleyBorder · 08/01/2024 13:15

What is on the Royal Mail card that makes you think it is connected to the Vinted purchase?

Remember someone could have sent you something by RM as a gift without your knowledge.

Poppyseed14 · 08/01/2024 13:16

Was your royal mail thing on a red card through the door or was that on an email or text message?

DillyDallyingAllDay · 08/01/2024 13:17

I think you'll find that someone else has sent you something via Royal Mail. It's highly likely EVRI have lost your Vinted parcel. Take up the Vinted issue on the app, as obviously it's not been delivered.
With regard to the Royal Mail parcel, I'd suggest you go to the sorting office where your parcel will have been held, let them know that you're not expecting anything, they might be able to let you see if there's a return address etc, before you decide if you want it or not.

ManateeFair · 08/01/2024 13:17

A £7 fee is what Royal Mail charge the recipient of a small parcel that has either:

a) no stamp at all
b) a counterfeit stamp

So if that card does indeed refer to your t-shirt, the sender either 'forgot' to put a stamp on it or tried to use a fake postage label or something.

It is obviously very suspicious that the tracking is for Evri and the parcel was (we think?) sent by a Royal Mail, which makes me wonder if the seller tried to send it via Evri and it got returned to her for some reason and she then re-sent via Royal Mail. Either way, it's all very fishy and I would just be asking for my money back at this point. Do not offer to pay the £7, just request a full refund via Vinted.

VainAbigail · 08/01/2024 13:17

I haven’t ordered anything from Royal Mail

It isn’t about ordering from Royal Mail, it’s about which courier your seller has chosen to use.

But does sound like 2 different parcels though.

SoupDragon · 08/01/2024 13:18

You used to be able to go to the sorting office that was holding your item and look at it before paying. I don't know if you can still do this though.

Ilovebees · 08/01/2024 13:19

@Poppyseed14 the Royal Mail fee to pay card was through the letterbox but I have absolutely ordered nothing . Maybe someone sent me a gift without me knowing ? But why didn’t they pay enough postage ? I don’t know , I’m a bit scared to pay it online maybe it’s a scam ?

OP posts:
VainAbigail · 08/01/2024 13:20

Also, grey card means it’s an international item from abroad.

Can you post a pic of the Royal Mail card with identifying details blanked out?

Poppyseed14 · 08/01/2024 13:21

Yeah as others have said I'd see if the sorting office would let me see the parcel and then I'd decide if it was worth the £7 to collect it. Part of that will be an admin fee that they add on to any underpaid postage. Would you normally receive a parcel at Christmas from someone and didn't receive it this year and you just hadn't really noticed you hadn't had it? I bet it will be something like that.
