She’s just so gorgeous! Want to look like her.

Really enjoying her new series on Netflix, love every outfit (aside from a shiny puffy jacket maybe)

She’s a Northerner too, so extra points 😂

I thought she was younger than she is though

Some of these comments are horrible. Women disecting how another woman looks. I bet the ones saying nasty things about her look like boiled up shit.

You are saying women shouldn’t criticise other women’s looks and then you say other women look like shit.

Are you aware of the word irony.

Delatron · 05/01/2024 16:34

I think if someone (man or woman) has so much work done that they look noticeably different to their former self then they are opening themselves up to comments about this. Especially in the public eye.

CookStrait · 05/01/2024 16:55

She looked perfect in Our Girl, but looking her age now in Fool Me Once. I’ve loved
watching her in both roles, & shall look forward to seeing her in future.

Boomboom22 · 05/01/2024 17:25

I'm not sure about normalised, most people think this look is ridiculous and not very attractive, women anyway. It's not really appropriate to try and look 20 when you are 36 so if she wants roles for mid 30s women this will make it harder. Also means you can't act, your face cannot make expressions properly and this will affect your relationships as you come across fake and can't smile truly.
Soon the actual beauties might be in demand, people don't think what kk has done to her body is a good thing. So much fake butt and liposuction she had to use a surrogate for safety reasons Because her body is so fake!

I really don't think people like them, they watch them as a laugh to take the Mickey! The kardashians do seem to have quite poor lives in terms of proper meaningful relationships, it's all surface about image and they all seem to have low self esteem.

Same with love Island, noone thinks they look good, don't they watch to see how stupid they can be / how silly they can look.

greensleevez · 05/01/2024 17:51

But of course we shouldn't blame women for succumbing to unreasonable beauty standards and the pressure to look young forever. Let women age - I think they actually look better with natural signs of age!

And just to be clear: Richard Armitage is drop dead gorgeous at 52! Looking young is not always a bonus IMHO.

ValerieVomit · 05/01/2024 18:16

Michelle Keegan was an attractive woman before she started having tweakments and whatever she has had done. She is now one of those standardised good looking women who have bought their faces. Let's not be catty, but equally, let's not be Emperor's New Clothes about this either.

@Lifestooshort71 I cannot stand Suranne One Trick Pony Jones's acting, either.

Wytchy · 04/01/2024 23:12

Exactly. She plays that one character well. But she doesn't appear to have a whole lot of range.

To be fair you could say the same for lots of actors Sean Bean anyone?
Also for old Mumsnetters can anyone remember Sean Connery playing that Russian submarine captain, the one with the Scottish accent 😂

Oh she's definitely not alone. There's a lucrative career to be made in playing your one character well. Sean Bean is a great example. Hugh Grant, although doing more interesting stuff now, bumbled his way in a posh manner through all of the 90s and 00s. And Nicolas Cage is always Nicolas Cage.

Oh behave people! We would all love to look as gorgeous as her and most of us would love the money to have the surgery she has had (if any). Haters gonna hate, but is that just the green eye! She is gorgeous and talented! Let's all be kind

Give over with the 'be kind'.

Sorry, but I don't think she is gorgeous or talented. She was pretty before she had all the 'work' done but she now looks like a generic footballer's wife type. Not ugly by any means, but certainly not someone who I would choose to look like if I could wave a magic wand.

As for 'talented', I've only seen her in the latest Harlan Coben thing on Netflix, and she's OK at best. Sarah Lancashire she is not.

Abbimae · 05/01/2024 19:50

NashvilleQueen · 04/01/2024 22:42

I didn't really know her before but didn't think she looked especially 'enhanced'.

This. I can’t see what work she has had done- you can see her face move all through the series!

Newgreendress · 05/01/2024 19:59

All this hard, aggressive and sometimes nasty PR makes me dislike MK, knowing that she has approved it. She is definitely a mediocre actress with a pretty face, there is lot of her kind in Hollywood, I don't think her next movie will be with Leo Di Caprio. Prior to this I was indifferent about her, so she hasn't lost a fan

EmpressSoleil · 05/01/2024 20:12

Just started watching the Netflix series tonight and honestly the pumped up lips are so annoying. I feel like I'm becoming hyper sensitive to it now as its bloody everywhere! Didn't watch corrie or our girl so haven't seen her in anything else.

I wouldn't call her stunning. Attractive yes, stunning no. But then people on MN often talk about Vicky Mclure being stunning and I find her really unattractive! So ofc it's all subjective.

I prefer Joanne Lumley. Absolutely stunning in her youth and has aged gracefully. If she has had any work, I wouldn't know.

Snuggleyou · 05/01/2024 20:24

Normal is also considered ugly these days too. It’s almost irresponsible of these celebrities to be pushing this in our faces, some even deny having work done and put it down to makeup, lighting or getting older.

Inmecomfiesnow · 05/01/2024 20:31

@Newgreendress What aggressive Pr?

This ☝️

Hiddenpeople · 05/01/2024 20:38

She’s on Graham Norton tonight folks, so you can all extend your bitchfest no doubt.

Tattletwat · 05/01/2024 20:43

She isn't a good actress, but that seems par for course on British TV we seem to use same actors and actresses for every show who aren't partially good look at the line of duty crown in everything despite being not good.

This is both sexes it seems we have a limited amount of acting even though we don't.

SamPM · 05/01/2024 20:47

Not great skin - looks rough with obvious pores. Or maybe thats the fault of poor make-up on the show - it looked caked on.

Snuggleyou · 05/01/2024 20:51

Yes it’s out of control in the North West.

You are right. Look back at the great beauties 30 or 40 years ago. Some of them had surgery (nose usually) but looked normal. They wouldn't stand out as particularly special today as people have hyper perfected themselves. Only the hyper perfected look loses something I think.
Cheryl Ladd, Jaclyn Smith, Meg Ryan were considered stunning. Now they just look pleasant but flawed.

Meg Ryan isn’t the best example.

When I look at Michelle Keegan I see someone who has paid lots of money to have bits added and other bits removed from her face so that it's completely been manufactured. Aesthetically, it's pleasing to the eye but it's a beauty that I just do not value at all, any more that when I look at my daughter's Barbies or a Disney princess. She had a lovely fresh faced prettiness before she paid someone to give her the same face that Kim Kardashian and Megan Fox asked for. She has had so much work done that I can't take it seriously as a contender for proper beauty, as fierce as she looks.

Sadly I agree with this.

Snuggleyou · 05/01/2024 21:00

Agreed, they’re all Beautiful but would probably be called rough today because people are trying to convert their faces into a walking living filters. It’s so depressing I’m late 40s and I feel the pressure so god knows how our girls feel.

Perhapsanorhertimewouldbebetter · 05/01/2024 14:34

MK and SJ are both very overrated imho.

Surranne Jones ruins every show she’s in. The same acting in whatever she’s doing. The same expressions with raised eyebrows and tilted head. A total bore.
