She’s just so gorgeous! Want to look like her.

Really enjoying her new series on Netflix, love every outfit (aside from a shiny puffy jacket maybe)

She’s a Northerner too, so extra points 😂

I thought she was younger than she is though

I'm not sure about normalised, most people think this look is ridiculous and not very attractive, women anyway. It's not really appropriate to try and look 20 when you are 36 so if she wants roles for mid 30s women this will make it harder. Also means you can't act, your face cannot make expressions properly and this will affect your relationships as you come across fake and can't smile truly.
Soon the actual beauties might be in demand, people don't think what kk has done to her body is a good thing. So much fake butt and liposuction she had to use a surrogate for safety reasons Because her body is so fake!

I really don't think people like them, they watch them as a laugh to take the Mickey! The kardashians do seem to have quite poor lives in terms of proper meaningful relationships, it's all surface about image and they all seem to have low self esteem.

Same with love Island, noone thinks they look good, don't they watch to see how stupid they can be / how silly they can look.

Wow... That's an awful lot of bitterness for one post!

@Hiddenpeople Meg Ryan was America's sweetheart!!!

But as you are not happy with her, how about Christy Brinkley and Demi Moore

Beautiful women but look a little flawed and bland next to the artificially enhanced faces of today

No one is saying she looks horrible. Quite the reverse; there seems to be a lot of love for Keegan on here. But I do think that if you want to have an unrealistic version of yourself beamed at high definition into people's living rooms it's to be expected that viewers will notice and remark. After all, why have noticeable work done to your face if you don't want people to notice you?
And the flip side is it can also make other women feel a little bit sh:t about themselves, seeing such unachievable beauty. Not a very sisterly thing to do when you really think about it.
But yeah - she's had distracting work done, but can still act, and seems likeable.

Bitching about another woman isn't very 'sisterly' either...

betumble · 05/01/2024 21:35

Surranne Jones ruins every show she’s in. The same acting in whatever she’s doing. The same expressions with raised eyebrows and tilted head. A total bore.

I thought the same until Gentleman Jack. She was great in that. A real pity that ended.

Demi Moore has always been an unconventional beauty.

But Christie Brinkley? She was a pin-up in that very 'all American' way. She would still be considered model material today. Not 'flawed' at all. If anything, rather blandly perfect.

My point was that she did do quite drastic things to her face! I see the others have too though, so maybe I misinterpreted your comment.

Tattletwat · 05/01/2024 22:03

Absolutely Surannae Jones, Vicky McClure, Martin compson, Adrian Dunbar.

They are pretty shite but sem to cast in everything there is a low bar in UK.

But ist same with presenters it's some shit again Dermot, Holly, Davina , Emma frost etc it's poor show and they could do better.

whirlingdevonish · 05/01/2024 22:37

@Jumpingthruhoops and I've said nothing nasty. On the contrary, defenders of surgery and tweakments have claimed those of us who don't have are probably jealous and lion like 'boiled sh&t'

Quite the nastiest thing I've read on here.

About MK having surgery, you said:
'It can also make other women feel a little bit sh:t about themselves, seeing such unachievable beauty. Not a very sisterly thing to do when you really think about it.'

Why, exactly, is that Michelle Keegan's problem? It is 'achievable' because she's achieved it! Other people's insecurities are their own. And, unfortunately, I do think a lot of it boils down to jealousy.

For what it's worth, I've crossed paths with MK several times, and found her to be beautiful inside and out!

OpalOrchid · 05/01/2024 23:00

It's quite sad really that women feel like they look ugly as they age. I'm watching her on GN and she looks like she's made of plastic. She would still be stunning without all the work she's had done.

TheAverageJoanne · 05/01/2024 23:15

theconfidenceofwho · 05/01/2024 20:57

Sadly I agree with this.

I agree too but to say so apparently makes one a bitch. I think there's a lot of gaslighting going on.

DillDanding · 05/01/2024 23:19

I am watching Graham Norton too. She does look, er, frozen. And waxy.

Dominic West though 🥰

Wytchy · 05/01/2024 23:28

Her face is mega botoxed on Graham Norton. I'd guess for the latest TV show the director asked her to leave off the botox in order to look more natural and have an expressive face.

Fairyliz · 06/01/2024 06:59

Interesting thread that has made me think. I would have said she has had too much done.
But then I’m in my 60’s with dyed hair and wear makeup most days. My grandma (born 1900) would have said why are you putting those chemicals on your head. My dad (born 1930) would have said get that muck off your face.
So what is acceptable, who decides where we draw the line?

Shakespearesister · 06/01/2024 07:53

Wytchy · 05/01/2024 09:22

we're not allowed criticise acting ability either?

Doe this apply to everyone in the acting profession? We have to pretend that the lovely Keanu Reeves, for example, is a great actor?

You are ‘allowed’ to criticise anyone you want online, that doesn’t mean you should.
Are you a professionally trained actor yourself?

I just find it sad and quite upsetting that the world we live in has somehow made it socially acceptable to be negative and critical about others online. Particularly famous people. These same people would perhaps simply be meek and polite if they met the said celebrity in person, but only too happy to judge and critique their appearance/talent/ability when hiding behind a computer screen.
I know people are perfectly entitled to their opinions and ‘freedom of speech’ and all that, but I think it’s awful.

TheAverageJoanne · 06/01/2024 10:26

@Shakespearesister I think your post is a bit #BeKind. We don't live in a marshmallow world.

We are consumers and pay to see actors on screens and TVs and stages. That gives us the right to have an opinion on our purchase regardless of being a trained actor. What about reviewers of dramas and books, are they unkind or objective?

Whether you'd tell someone to their face there's not enough depth to their portrayal of a character is irrelevant because it's not going to happen, is it?

The "I'd like to see you try" attitude is also irrelevant. I'm not a chef but if I get a terrible meal I'm qualified to judge that for myself.

People who put themselves in the public eye through their work know this. There's no reason to be spiteful about anyone on forums or social media though I agree.

KimberleyClark · 06/01/2024 10:34

@TheAverageJoanne quite right. Actors are entertainers, we pay handsomely to see them and we are perfectly entitled to say whether we find them entertaining or not.

Sleepydoor · 06/01/2024 12:01

There’s a huge difference between saying whether you find a performance entertaining or not and the over the top level of vitriol found on this thread. I watched the entire season of Fool Me Once. I can understand people saying it wasn’t for them, but it was far from terrible. Keegan’s acting was far from terrible. She’s had plastic surgery and lip filler — her character is not just a captain flying helicopters, she’s also married into a very wealthy family, so that isn’t inconsistent with her character. Her wardrobe starts off impeccable and varied and then as she gets consumed by events and being gaslit by her MIL and the Burketts, she stops caring as much about her appearance and wears the same trainers, jeans and sweater that starts to pill. Her MiL even says “I’m worried about you… You’re not taking your usual pride in your appearance.” And that’s said with a bit of a sneer as though her character is usually vain (maybe likes to get spray tans and lip fillers that Lumley’s character thinks are trashy even).
Anyway, it is weird that people are so harsh and critical about a very pretty actress who gave a compelling performance. It wasn’t an award winning performance but the role didn’t require a performance of that calibre. It was a Netflix thriller ffs.

Snuggleyou · 06/01/2024 15:49

Maybe the criticism isn’t really about Michelle herself. Maybe it’s more about what she represents in our society, as a woman who chooses to go over the top with her image, people saying well “it’s the industry she’s in” no, no it’s not the industry she’s in as a whole.

She looks more akin to someone in reality tv than uk acting star, she looks like she’s trying to keep up with the Kardashians. Which begs the question is she incredibly insecure or incredibly vain? I don’t understand it, it should be about her acting ability not her looks so much.

She’s already aged herself up about 8 years with it all, gone is the last residual dewy fresh face she should be experiencing before she hits her forties and pumped with chemicals and poison she is.

women who make the choices she has should be seen as a sad story not a success story, but instead our all consuming easily brainwashed society is lauding her.

Women who work in retail and factories on minimum wage (not that there’s anything wrong with that at all) are trying to keep up with these celebrities pumping their faces. Who knows what the long term/future consequences will be, maybe we will all look a bit uncanny valley in the future, it’s just so incredibly depressing.

Yes this is exactly it. And then you have people saying they can’t see that she’s had any work done. And that’s so shocking as she as a whole new face! So this work is becoming normalised as are the big fat slug lips. And in turn lots of young girls are
ruining their faces.

What a horrible thread this is. Nasty, bitchy comments about a woman’s looks.

Can’t believe what I’m reading. Would you be happy to think she might read these comments? Would you like to read these comments about yourself/a family member? So cruel. It’s disgusting. People that have said vile things should be ashamed.

I agree and perhaps a touch of the green eyed monster?
I will openly admit I am a little jealous of her because I think she is really beautiful!

Loussa · 06/01/2024 17:10

It’s obvious she gets a lot of filler but doesn’t look pillow face-y to me. I do think filler on that level catches up with you eventually. See Kim Kardashian.

kerstina · 06/01/2024 17:12

I saw her on the one show the other day but thought Joanna Lumley completely outshined her.

FuckOffTom · 06/01/2024 17:13

Also, I don’t think it’s ‘orange foundation’ she has Spanish heritage so has olive skin and tabs very very easily. I remember her talking about this in an interview once. People saying she is covered in fake tan but she isn’t necessarily and if she is, it looks pretty natural to me

Bewilderedallthetine · 06/01/2024 17:14

I took my young son on a trip to London to see a show. On our way back to the train station we popped into Boots and saw Michelle in there. She is very beautiful, slim, tanned with amazing hair. I looked over to her and she saw me looking ( staring) at her and gave me the loveliest smile 😃. I think she is a nice person and wish her all the luck in the future.
