She’s just so gorgeous! Want to look like her.

Really enjoying her new series on Netflix, love every outfit (aside from a shiny puffy jacket maybe)

She’s a Northerner too, so extra points 😂

I thought she was younger than she is though

An absolutely stunning, very young, work colleague had lip fillers a few weeks ago. She really had no reason to, she was so fresh and gorgeous looking. She was really pleased with them but they made her look so different and were really noticeable. Then another very young colleague joined in and said how much he wanted fillers, botox and a nose job. It broke my heart a little bit. When I was their age, any kind of plastic surgery or tweakments wouldn't have been on my radar. But it's so normalised now that people in their early twenties think nothing of altering themselves in a way that seems to want to emultae a very narrow standard of beauty - for men and women.

I completely agree. It’s frankly terrifying how normalised cosmetic surgery, lip fillers etc have become. At some point those who haven’t been “done “ will be the ones who stand out.

Wytchy · 05/01/2024 11:38

A lot of Michelle Keegan's recent jobs seem to come via Danny Brocklehurst who's the writer on this Netflix show, as well as on Brassic, and Ten Pound Poms.

I think the reason there are a lot of comments, mine included, is that in her OP, @Inmecomfiesnow expressed the desire to look like someone, who when googled, has had a huge amount of cosmetic work done to the extent she no longer looks like her younger, also very pretty, self. The OP thinks she is gorgeous and an ideal type of beauty. Other people came on to say she looks so natural etc… and for someone like me who has heard the name but hasn’t seen anything she is in, it really brings home just how our ideas of beauty have been distorted by SM and celebrity culture. Yes she is beautiful, but in that slightly strange overworked way. She has an amazing physique.

If OP had commented on her acting, the comments would have mostly been about that. This is a thread started all about the looks of someone famous who felt the need to make significant, painful interventions to conform to the new rich-face norm, becoming unrecognisable in the process. If young women regard her as a role model and beauty ideal, it’s no wonder so many are begging their parents for “work” before they are out of their teens, and I’m not talking about what might be classed as corrective surgery or dental work. I’m the age of such parents and so many friends’ teenage girls say they want cosmetic surgery and fillers as soon as they can.

I know I sound like an old bat but it’s very discouraging to someone like me and I feel sorry for our girls. Doubtless girls who would have been considered perfectly presentable when I was at school would be “minging” now, putting aside the fashions and perms of the day and just taking them with their varying faces and physiques. I’m not sure any out of my year of 300 (so around 150 girls) would now be considered really gorgeous now by this measure. Some would be close, but need some “work” and a ferocious gym and weights routine to pass muster.

Brilliant post. I came on to say something similar, but don't need to, as it's already been so well expressed.

MK is a product of our times. I do think it's a shame, both that she felt insecure or pressured enough to alter what was already a lovely face, and also that this will just continue to add to the pressure that young women now are faced with. And as a pp said, I also think it's an important conversation to have. I do hope that this trend/phase passes soon. I personally only find faces truly beautiful if they have and show character. These carbon copy, currently fashionable faces don't really do that.

TheDogIsInCharge · 05/01/2024 12:16

Away from plastic surgery, I find her a very one note actor. She's pretty much the same person in very role. If you look at actors like Claire Foy, Jodie Comer, Carey Mulligan, Vanessa Kirby, Morven Christie, Juno Temple, Leticia Wright, Emily Blunt - they are all in their thirties too but have so much more range.

Her acting reminds me of Keira Knightly's, albeit a very different style- you know exactly what you're going to see because you've seen it so many times before.

Thequeenofwishfulthinking · 05/01/2024 12:22

What are we ‘allowed’ to discuss on here if we can’t comment on looks or acting ability?
The OP has an opinion. Others have an opinion.
Maybe posters are comparing how they look and others they know. Why do people assume if you don’t think MK is gorgeous you must be hideous? It’s all a matter of personal taste. No one on here has been vile.

Alcyoneus · 05/01/2024 12:25

Michelle Keegan is not a good actress. Anyone who thinks she is really needs to watch better quality shows.

See its interesting because I’d absolutely rate her as highly as those actors - and higher than some, to be honest - with the exception of Jodie Comer who is a once in a generation, exceptional talent in my opinion.

But I guess it’s partly about what you value in performance - I think the ability to be believable and feel like a real person you might meet in the street, while at the same time having enough warmth and heart to make an audience care is a special - and actually quite rare skill. Different to being a chameleon type actor, but in my opinion as skilled.

Inmecomfiesnow · 05/01/2024 12:37

@Howbizarre22 Is she not nice in real life then? Surely having a father as a mason (if she does 🤷🏻‍♀️) wouldn’t get you top acting jobs

She really is beautiful. I remember her in her first episode of coronation street and even then I said “wow, she’ll grow up and be so beautiful” (she’s not much younger than me!).
When you Google before and after images, they seem to pick the most unflattering angles for the “before” to emphasise the difference in face shape, however, if you Google her first images as Tina McIntyre, her nose or jawline hasn’t changed significantly, and can be attributed to aging.

She is stunning, has a body to die for and is a tremendous actress too. She reminds me of Suranne Jones (think that’s how it’s spelt?). Surgery or not, she’s naturally beautiful. You can’t polish a turd and all that!
Plus beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Edited

What saddens me most about posts like yours is the inability for some people to see the surgical changes in someone's face. Her nose and jaw are completely different and no amount of claiming otherwise changes this. She has filler in the back of her jaw which gives the Angelina jolie jaw look. Her nose is completely reshaped and much much smaller and refined. Her lips go without saying.

What is most worrying is if there are people who can't see this, there will be young women who will feel a lot of self hatred for their natural look. If you look back to the 80s and 80s the beauties look plain and flawed compared to the surgically enhanced beauties like MK. She's even had veneers which is word as she had decent teeth. She is wholly artificial looking now but quite stunning. But it's important that people understand that she looks the way she does through surgery and her very very few people if any look like this naturally and that people's natural look is not therefore inferior

Agree with this. After having seen her in Fool me once (very Netflix-y show haha), I have forgotten her almost immediately, yes, she is pretty, reminds me of Cheryl Cole which has no much substance etc, but since seeing some people (PR Team?) who push their agenda quite aggressively and shutting up posters who disagree with their views, I started being quite critical of MK (plastic surgeries, mediocre actress, gets roles thanks to connections, inter-changeable looks (think Cheryl Cole)

But she was so unbelievable in Ten Pound Poms BECAUSE she looked so "done." It really jarred and took away from any warmth her performance may have. I guess this is where the cosmetic work and the acting work collide.

jazzybelle · 05/01/2024 13:16

Michelle Keegan was attractive when she was in Corrie. Everyone said she was attractive. She kept winning the Sexiest Female award. She met Mark Wright. She moved to Essex and married him. So, now she has to have everything done, that she can have done because she has to live up to her reputation and be better the Essex girls.

Jumpingthruhoops · 05/01/2024 13:20

justanothermanicmonday1 · 04/01/2024 22:57

It's not entirely obvious. Her lips yes. But she's beautiful & some people just love to hate.

This! Yes, she's obviously had a few tweakments here and there... but all they do is further enchance how good looking she already is.

Let's face it, MK really has got it all... stunningly beautiful, a great actress and savvy businesswoman, has a devoted husband (whatever people think of him!) and lives in a mansion. That is just simply not ALLOWED! 🙄

greensleevez · 05/01/2024 13:27

I started watching Fool Me Once and really wanted to like it and tried not to be judgmental but I have to say while she is beautiful and there is nothing wrong with her as an actress I find her style of beauty (the obvious cosmetic work, lip fillers etc) really distracting and I kept thinking I was watching a soap or a reality programme and in the end gave up.

I think women should of course do what they want with their appearance but for actors I do think it takes something away from the performance when they are supposed to be chameleon-like although this could be just unconscious bias on my part...

But why is it important for people to 'understand' why she looks the way she looks? Any work she's had done to achieve her look, is her business and her's alone. Sorry but other people's insecurities aren't her problem.

Thriving30 · 05/01/2024 13:31

I can't see that she's had that much work done? Definitely lip filler, maybe a bit of botox/filler elsewhere on her face. She works out to keep her body slim. She is beautiful.

Perhapsanorhertimewouldbebetter · 05/01/2024 13:33

I've never really liked her as an actress and don't think she's overly attractive or unattractive, kind of average.
Well done to her for her successful acting career, casting obviously think she's got something special.

Lifestooshort71 · 05/01/2024 13:39

And I'd add Suranne Jones to this list as well but I know I'm in a minority (of one?!)

Yes. There's some weirdly OTT gushing posts about her beauty and talents on this thread. They stand out a mile.

The reality is that she's had too much filler. As I've already said the lip filler is the worst thing, and not well done - too much in the top lip (she moves her mouth oddly too now) and the jaw filler giving a square shape face. Not my idea of beauty at all, and that overdone look is not uncommon at the moment as you can see many people like her.

Mikimoto · 05/01/2024 13:55

She reminds me of a real-life Vicky Pollard, although slightly more orange and with fewer acting capabilities.

MK and SJ are both very overrated imho.

Throwhandsupintheair · 05/01/2024 14:55

Well it’s clear she looks noticeably different in her before and after photos, however, I think the work she’s had done was worth every penny. She looks stunning. I’ve even googled brow and jaw lifts!

The only thing I wonder about though regarding celebs who change their faces is whether they worry that their offspring will inherit their old faces? Do they need to hide the kids away until they’re old enough to have their own cosmetic surgery??!

greensleevez · 05/01/2024 15:11

Actually I don't think it's just about her looks. In Fool Me Once she seemed really at odds with the other actors somehow, like parachuted from a different production. Watching her with Joanna Lumley was quite cringe! And she looked so much younger than Richard Armitage although there isn't that much of an age difference between them (unless that was the point, I couldn't be bothered to stay tuned to find out).

I've googled and there's 16 years between them which is a pretty sizeable age gap.

Yes I know but she is 36 which is hardly a spring chicken while she looks like a kid, is what I mean.
