To not wear my boobs to work? (dmx)

Stressedgiraffe · 29/12/2023 16:21

I have to go into the office for a week in January. I had a mastectomy 10 years ago and another one last summer. I always wore a prosthesis but as I'm now flat I don't bother. I haven't been into the office since my operation and wfh.
I've been trying on work outfits and I look fine flat but mentioned it to my mum who thought I should wear my fake boobs to make it more comfortable for others. It's made me think.
Aibu to not wear them?

Please do what you want to do and put your own comfort above everyone else’s. x

Ducksinthebath · 29/12/2023 16:25

Even if I were to notice, it wouldn’t bother me in the slightest. Do whatever makes you comfortable, not others.

Cyclebabble · 29/12/2023 16:25

Do what you feel comfortable with.

rookiemere · 29/12/2023 16:26

I don't think anyone would notice as it's symmetrical.

Starlightstarbright2 · 29/12/2023 16:26

Do what feels right for you . Others will just get over it .

CharlotteUnaNatalieThompson · 29/12/2023 16:26

BOLLOCKS to "others"

Wear what you like. I strongly suspect no one will notice anyway

DisforDarkChocolate · 29/12/2023 16:26

Your comfort matters more than anyone else's. People may notice, most probably won't. Most will forget after they've seen you a few times.

Devilsmommy · 29/12/2023 16:26

Don't get your mom's reasoning tbh. Do what makes you comfortable 😊

IGotItFromAgnes · 29/12/2023 16:26

I doubt most people would notice one way or the other, if that helps? Definitely prioritise what makes you feel the most comfortable.

drspouse · 29/12/2023 16:26

Lots of women are very flat chested. It is a bit weird your mum thinks they would make people uncomfortable.

AngelicInnocent · 29/12/2023 16:26

Well, generally, I don't tend to stare at someone's boob area. Male or female. But, Since I presume you will be wearing clothes, I don't see how you would make anyone uncomfortable even if they were weird enough to be staring at your chest

PaperwhiteTheGhost · 29/12/2023 16:27

Naaaah babes, you do you. If anyone feels "uncomfortable" at how you look after a heroic survival that's their problem.

Also I have massive tits and would absolutely love to be able to wear slinky tops and backless dresses like you can. I bet you look lovely

NImumconfused · 29/12/2023 16:27

As long as you're comfortable and happy with how you look, no-one else's opinion is relevant here. You are not responsible for how other people feel.

CMOTDibbler · 29/12/2023 16:28

Do whatever you like. My flat colleague sometimes wears boobs if she feels like it, sometimes not, and she says no one notices anyway

supersonicginandtonic · 29/12/2023 16:28

Sod everyone else. Do what makes you happy
And comfortable. It's about you not anybody else.

WhatWouldAliciaDo · 29/12/2023 16:28

Nobody will notice x

Unescorted · 29/12/2023 16:29

If my colleague was worried about my boobs or lack of them I would be straight to HR.

GCAcademic · 29/12/2023 16:30

The comfort of the person who’s had a mastectomy trumps the irrational feelings of other people.

DuploTrain · 29/12/2023 16:30

I do worry about some women’s ingrained sexism (your mother’s). Why on earth would you not wearing boobs make someone else uncomfortable?

And if it did make them uncomfortable, that’s very much a “them” problem, not a “you” problem.

Who are these 'others' and what is there to 'get over' ?
We all owe it to ourselves to dress however we feel most comfortable , not for the benefit of our colleagues.

ShinyAppleDreamingOfTheSea · 29/12/2023 16:31

Most definitely dress as you feel comfortable.

This! I am sure your mum is speaking with the best of intentions but I have absolutely no idea what she is talking about.

Stressedgiraffe · 29/12/2023 16:32

I used to be a 38ff so my boobs were

noticeable. Now my stomach is !

Unless you work as a professional bikini model, surely nobody would even notice?

Opt for comfort, OP!

gestroopd · 29/12/2023 16:34

Well they might notice but as it's irrelevant you your work (you don't model lingerie and you're not a stripper?) then do whatever you want.

If it were reversed, would you want a female colleague to wear (not particularly comfortable prosthetics all day) in case you were uncomfortable?
