To think women are usually better-looking than their partners?

Apologies if this offends anybody.. this is just my opinion, something I've noticed. Maybe it's just that women take better care of their looks in general? I very rarely see men who I'd consider unbelievably good-looking, model-like and so on.
Also, I think men are more attracted to looks whereas women go for assets, so will be less bothered about the male not being as good-looking.

I look like shit, married a gorgeous bloke with excellent prospects. Still looks good 30 years on, I'm 20 kg heavier than him, still look like I've been dragged through a hedge backwards.

Was always described as "someone with personality" as a kid, glad DH agrees.

I know some men do have Botox and fillers but the industry is very heavily targeted at females..I do think men are more visual, not saying women do not go for looks, but they are more interested in whether they can provide.

I'm butt ugly - my husband is pretty enough for the both of us.

I know I know that being an outlier doesn't mean what you're saying is not true, but I do think there are plenty men out there who aren't as shallow and plenty of women who choose to ignore, like myself, what society says we should care about I.e our beauty.

I think me and DH were pretty similar in a scoring type system, I might have been a point or two ahead, but he's aging like a fine wine, while I look knackered, so he's overtaken me now!

I think there are always exceptions but pretty much you're right OP and it's because it's put upon women to perform for the male gaze and standards are just on a different level.

My partner is absolutely gorgeous in my eyes. He may not be everyone’s cup of tea though. I also earn plenty to support myself without needing a man with assets.

DH is much better looking than me! I'd say we used to be fairly evenly matched but he's 6 years younger than me, and menopause has turned my previously perky face into a boglin (remember those?!l, so 🤷‍♀️

Men are tempted more by physical features perhaps? They are less concerned about the package.

Not in my experience. But I'm not attracted to women so maybe it's a bit hard to judge 'better'. The Botox-and-fillers looks you mention don't look good to me at all.

I’ve only know two couples where the man is significantly more attractive than the woman.

I used to be much better looking than dh. He often says he told a friend that he was going to marry me the second he saw me. Dh wasn’t ugly or anything but he was perhaps average looking, although he had a nice face with beautiful eyes. However dh literally stopped aging at about 35 years old and his face has really come into it’s own. He is now annoyingly far more attractive than me.

Most of my attractive female friends have partners that are as equally attractive as them. I'd say the same for me and DH.

Thinking of the couples I know I'd say on average they tend to have similar levels of physical attractiveness, though I can think of several where the man is (imo of course) better looking.

I don't think that applies outside the UK.

I actually think most people are roughly looks matched.

When they get together anyway. Sometimes that changes over time.

I think women are more likely ( not me ) to make more of an effort although
I'm not a big fan of the botox, and big lip.,s look personally .
