Very shaken neighbour incident

We don't speak to our neighbours. They are very difficult people & after a string of incidents previously we are no contact.
However today DH was out our front garden (terrace house attached to our neighbours) & hung up a santa with fishing wire.
About an hour later we heard a crash against the window & DH ran out. The neighbour climed a little ladder & had cut the wire & the decoration crashed against the window.
DH roared what are you playing at. The neighbour was roaring the fishing line (which was invisible) was over his garden (it wasn't, was completely in our garden) & then proceeded to call my DH a fat c**r & called him out onto the footpath for a fight.
DH lost the rag back at him but thankfully didn't rise to the bait.
I'm very shaken & after a tough year was excited to put up the decorations with my girls.
Don't know what the next move should be, part of me wants to get even but I just don't want any more agro with them...

Report them to 101 for criminal damage and threatening behaviour. And rehang it, taking photos of the fixings.

bumtrumpet · 23/11/2023 14:33

They sound unhinged. I'd keep your decorations on the other side well away from them

LoveTheDarts · 23/11/2023 14:37

Get some emergency blue coloured lights and set them up to flash directly into their windows? Also get a ring doorbell to record any criminal activity. Report to 101.

Shakennotstirred1 · 23/11/2023 14:37

We have it on CCTV. Hubby has it hung at a different angle. This is the second time he is challenged DH to a fight. It's obvious he wants to rile DH into throwing a punch then trying to do him for assault..

What is a c**r ? Trying to work this out 😂

Don't rise to it then

Shakennotstirred1 · 23/11/2023 14:39

Sorry he called DH a fat c**t repeatedly 😭

OP you should report it to the police. It's good you've got CCTV up, make sure it covers the front of the property and has audio. Consider wearing a bodycam as well.

Shakennotstirred1 · 23/11/2023 14:40

I'm quite upset as it's been a couple of years incident free. We just ignore them & vice versa until this today with a bloody plastic santa...

Feels ridiculous even typing it..

I thought it was cocksucker but the OP couldn't be arsed to type all the asterisks! 😅

Bluelightbaby · 23/11/2023 14:42

Firstly omg Xmas decorations in November !! 😝
Secondly log everything anti social they do and report to 101, sounds awful living next to them

UnctuousUnicorns · 23/11/2023 14:43

Sorry, OP. We've had loony aggressive neighbours in the past, it's no fun.

Shakennotstirred1 · 23/11/2023 14:49

It's no fun but we're homeowners & so are they..

OP posts:
Greenshake · 23/11/2023 14:53

Have you actually raised any of this with the Police?

PumpkinsAndCoconuts · 23/11/2023 14:54

Doesn’t sound like something that will be resolved in its own. It rather sounds like this will continue to escalate…

I therefore strongly agree with pp: this needs to be reported to the police.

Shakennotstirred1 · 23/11/2023 14:56

Not yet. Just came in mumsnet to vent. However the neighbours did ring the police when we installed security cameras. They said that we were filming their garden, police came viewed our cameras & told them there was no footage of their property on our cameras

Silvers11 · 23/11/2023 14:56

Think you need to report this to the Police as others have said. It may very well escalate and you may need to have proof of this and any other incidents which may occur

As were we, and them. We ended up moving, it wasn't worth the stress. 23 peaceful years later and we've never regretted that decision. Shit that we had to do it, though.

Rocksonabeach · 23/11/2023 14:57

Log with police and record the cctv footage in a folder backed up on the computer. Make sure it is downloaded

Clarinet1 · 23/11/2023 14:58

I don’t think that some sort of tit-for-tat revenge is the way to go; that will probably only escalate matters. I think you need to report to the police and keep your video evidence in case things go any further. I’m

Redebs · 23/11/2023 14:59

If your neighbour is damaging things in your garden and shouting rude things at your husband, then I think you should have a word with the police. That is not ok behaviour.

Greenshake · 23/11/2023 14:59

Well, Mumsnet vent aside, you really should go to the Police about this, as it’s obviously not going to improve.

Why don’t you move? Surely that would be better than living like this?
