How do you pronounce 'nothing' and 'rant'

AIBU to think that the way my dp pronounces these words isn't particularly common?

He pronounces 'nothing' with the 'o' sounding as the 'o' does in 'moth'.

I say 'nothing' sounding like 'n-uh-thing'.

He pronounces 'rant' sounding like you'd say 'can't'.

I say 'rant' sounding like you'd say 'ant'.

I'm not saying that either one of us is right as I'm sure both are, but he's the only person I've heard pronounce them this way!

I’m with your DH on “nothing” and with you on “rant”. I suspect the word nothing is pronounced very differently in different regions so it might not be a question of being wrong.

This.

I've got a Scottish accent - I'm with you re. 'nothing' and say it as nuh-thing

For me, 'rant', 'can't' and 'ant' all sound the same.

Wait wait, I'm so confused about perform. How do you say it? I've not seen the ad but I guess I say 'puh-form' so are they putting the emphasis on 'perf'?

I think the way Afflt might say perform is closer, to my ears, to “Pair-form”.
