Dd, 5, adores The Grinch, I’ve seen a Grinch Pj set for Dh, me, Dd and the dog 🤷🏻‍♀️😂She’d love it, we’d be cheesy but cosy…total cost is €57…! I mean
Do you do xmas pjs?

No, not for us, I stop at buying kids crimbo jammies, I don’t really see the need for the adults to dress like the children.

Downgetgetdowngetgetdowngetgetdown · 13/11/2023 08:32

@Womencanlift I wouldn’t be doing it for social media, in fact, I probably *Wouldnt post as I feel a bit embarrassed 🙈in terms of our dog, it’s because I think Dd would love it, it is all very cheesy, but it’s sort of a bonding thing to cheer up the dark nights? I’ll give them all as a surprise, then we’ll watch The Grinch film with some popcorn & hot chocolates
Massive cheese alert, but 🤷🏻‍♀️

Never have, never would have. I dare say dds would have liked it, but dh would have run a mile. I never even suggest a Christmas jumper to dh. Not that he’s a miserable old Scrooge at all, but such things are Just Not Him.

mondaytosunday · 13/11/2023 09:00

I've bought my daughter winter or Xmas jammies in the past but not my son and a matching family set - ugh!
So nay (but buy your kid the Grinch one, you don't need to wear it too).

plsbequiet · 13/11/2023 09:13

Hard no. So tacky.

SL20 · 13/11/2023 10:11

We have mathcing pjs for Christmas time. What I do is get the kids a size up so that they last 2 years. Kinda makes the cost a bit more worth it. Yes they’re slightly baggy on them but who wants tight clothes after all the Christmas food?! 😂 we just fold the sleeves. It doesn’t look silly. last year we had a baby and I managed to find the matching baby grow on Vinted. I love that we have a cheesy matching pj photo to look at from every year.

CattingAbout · 13/11/2023 10:26

God no!

To be honest, I think your child would be just as chuffed if the dog had a set. You don’t need to dress up too. I guess you want to though, and that’s ok, just own it though and don’t blame your child. 😂

Wellhellooooodear · 13/11/2023 10:50

We don't but more to do with the fact that DH and DS don't wear PJs. If you will enjoy it go for it, it's just a bit of fun.

Wellhellooooodear · 13/11/2023 10:53

Ignore the posters saying its cheesy and tacky, so what if it is? Little kids love cheesy and tacky, some people are pathetically stuck up. Go get those PJs.

RainbowCrayons · 13/11/2023 10:58

I did this for DS’s first Christmas but had the forethought to also buy a size 2-3 at the same time. When he was 18 months I had to tack the trousers up and by the time he was 3.5 they were a little bit short but they lasted well. Now he’s bigger I just found an age 5-6 on Vinted which should hopefully do for another few years! The baby grow was used by a cousin and will go to another cousin this Christmas so getting plenty of use out of it. Like others have said they are tartan so he wears them all winter and with a jumper de-bobbler, look good as new each year. My family went all out for Christmas when I was growing up so I want to do loads of these little traditions for Ds too.

suntannedsnowballs · 13/11/2023 11:06

I get the two kids matching ones - mainly because they're the same price (£8 Asda) and they'll be worn all year round

DS9 is getting to that age where he's gonna have opinions on such things like matching with his 2 year old baby sister so I'm doing this while I can Grin

zaffa · 13/11/2023 11:09

LittlestG · 12/11/2023 22:51

We did it for our first Christmas with our little one, that being said, they weren't particularly Christmassy, they were just nice plaid pj's. I'm preggers this year though so no matching pj's for us as I can't get my fat Christmas pud tummy into any of the matching sets! 🤣

Asda did a maternity set last year so may do that again this year!

Maddy70 · 13/11/2023 11:09

I fund family pj's so cringey. Worse are the photos on Facebook Those poor kids face years of torment

GasDrivenNun · 13/11/2023 11:10

We would never do xmas PJs. We don't wear dressing gowns or sleepwear around the house. Neither DH and I possess any PJs.

JudgeJ · 13/11/2023 11:11

Downgetgetdowngetgetdowngetgetdown · 12/11/2023 22:51

@Devilsmommy I haven’t actually asked him yet…I’m thinking if we all do, how can he be the boring one and not participate 😂

Maybe he doesn't want to, or are you saying he has to tolerate being bullied into doing something he doesn't want to do? Another ueber-controlling woman!

Stroopwaffels · 13/11/2023 11:12

Absolutely not. Matching pjs for the kids at a push, but getting the adults roped in to the "fun" is a hard no.

AutumnAlias · 13/11/2023 11:13

Any festive marital intimacy would be well off the cards for me if my DH was wearing the same grinch pyjamas as my children. Weird instant ick.

AhBiscuits · 13/11/2023 11:13

We've got a few sets of family PJs, the kids love it 😄

Scalottia · 13/11/2023 11:13

Twee instagram shit, but if you want to do it - do it. Don't worry so much about what others think!

zaffa · 13/11/2023 11:13

I already have some for all of us! I don't care if it's cheesy, it's not going on insta, it's a bit of fun for us a family. We still wear our pjs from last year but they are a bit small for DD now, we wear them until they get outgrown though.

If it makes you guys happy then absolutely get them!! Who cares if other people think they're tacky - they're not the ones wearing them.

I think your plan sounds lovely and festive!

LegendsBeyond · 13/11/2023 11:13

God no. I cringe so much when I see family PJ photos. It’s embarrassing.

PantsToItAll · 13/11/2023 11:25

Each to their own I’d say. I always get my DC new pjs on Xmas eve (usually left by the departing elf) they generally match or at least “go together”. One year I did get DH and myself the same pairs as looked nice and we both needed new pjs anyway. It was a lovely thing and DD particularly enjoyed it. As PP alluded to the problem is the DC quickly outgrew their pjs whereas mine and DH are still going strong and we use each Xmas so we no longer all match but it doesn’t really matter. Do what’s right each year for your family.

One year we all had matching jumpers too. DC outgrow and they got passed on and DH and mine still fit and get used each year. I don’t think this is wasteful as all items get plenty of use.

LeonoraFlorence · 13/11/2023 11:26

Go for it! DDs and I love them, DH goes along with it to keep us happy! 😂

TheKeatingFive · 13/11/2023 11:27

It's not something I have much interest in, but you should do whatever makes you happy. I bet lots of little kids would love it.
