To want to change my son’s name because of his siblings’ initials?

Ok I’m totally prepared to be told I’m being unreasonable but hear me out

I had my son last month and DH & I chose the name Jack. We have two DDs, and their names are Zoey and Iris

I’ve just realized their initials side by side spell out JIZ.

Should I change our son’s name because of this? DH thinks I’m being unreasonable and it’s no big deal

I agree with your DH.

Jack was born last so JIZ is not even their initials of the order they were born in.

SaryMhelley · 18/10/2023 17:03

YABU.

Do you mostly say/ write their names as
Z, I, J - so in birth order?

Chocbuttonsandredwine · 18/10/2023 17:03

Who ever puts the initials of their kids together?

No big deal. Infact it’s not even a teeny deal.

Hormones 😂

Bosabosa · 18/10/2023 17:03

Er.....why would Jack's name go first? In whatever universe you would need to have the kids' initials together, would it not be in age order, ZIJ?

AllegroConMoto · 18/10/2023 17:03

Wouldn’t you normally list the children oldest to youngest? That’s how it generally is with people I know.

How many times is anyone going to see their initials anyway?

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 18/10/2023 17:04

But it’s ZIJ, so you would be ridiculous to change his name (unless this is just an excuse and you’re having second thoughts anyway)

Woahtherehoney · 18/10/2023 17:05

🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄

Esgaroth · 18/10/2023 17:06

No, this is crazy. Nobody will ever think of this apart from you.

Congratulations on baby Jack, it's a lovely name.

Redglitter · 18/10/2023 17:07

How often are you going to put their initials together? If you do, as pp said, you'd do it eldest to youngest

You're being ridiculous even considering changing his name

😂😂😂 I think it is the hormones. Cried because I put my shoes on the wrong feet this morning 🙈

Totally unreasonable. I think you'll look back in time and laugh that this was something you even thought about.

ReturnOfTheRainMac · 18/10/2023 17:08

I think you need some sleep. 😂😂😂

Meniscus · 18/10/2023 17:09

Get some sleep and have a stiff drink.

Awh bless you!

We’ve all been there! I remember crying in shopping centre as dh got in the lift with 1 week old ds, there wasn’t enough space for me… I cried becuase I thought he might steal him 😂

Congrats on your new baby! Do not panic about initials. Do not give it a second thought

Chocbuttonsandredwine · 18/10/2023 17:11

If they had been your new babies initials then you may have had a point 😂

Hankunamatata · 18/10/2023 17:11

Have some sleep and cake (my solution to most things) and realise it's a none issue

Ponderingwindow · 18/10/2023 17:15

No one ever puts children’s initials together.

changing your child’s name may create a lifetime of hassle for your child. Some careers require careful Id and document verification, even on a recurring basis. People with name changes have extra steps and sometimes take longer to process.

notlucreziaborgia · 18/10/2023 17:17

😂

It isn’t a big deal, please don’t worry about it.

Jewelspun · 18/10/2023 17:19

My daughter doesn't have a middle name. Neither of my children do.

Her initials are TV. According to you she's either a Television or a Transvestite!

Jewelspun · 18/10/2023 17:20

Hangs his name to Trevor.

Then they can be collectively called ZIT!

TootenCarMoon · 18/10/2023 17:20

I have a necklace with mine and my DC’s initials on and they do move around so end up in a different order but I seriously doubt someone would look at a similar item if you had one and think you’d spelled ‘JIZ’ to wear around your neck. I’d presume they were separate initials.

Nowherenew · 18/10/2023 17:25

I’ve never even thought about my siblings initials.

If you get a tattoo or item with their initials on them do it in age order.

Love this!

And I’m going to make it my solution to everything!

rocknrollaa · 18/10/2023 17:27

Nobody will ever think of this.

Poppins2016 · 18/10/2023 17:30

I'm in my mid (late!) thirties and have only just thought about writing my (3) siblings initials next to mine for the first time ever.... I don't write the initials of my children together either. If I did, I'd do it in birth order.

I think this is pure hormones, OP. I honestly wouldn't worry about this (or go as far as changing a name)!
