To think Starmer seriously needs a better haircut

The current hair is just awful, a weird 50s throwback style. Why isn't the Labour party hiring people to style him to look (and sound) professional for leadership? It's not enough these days just to be yourself and jog along. It's serious.

There’s a post on his er behind and mooning over various things, I can’t type directly on that level of attraction

So I’d say it’s a thread fair game for the superficial

itsgettingweird · 12/10/2023 16:31

Did you see Johnson?

Have you looked at Fabricant?

No one seems to think their politics are affected by their hair.

Why pick on Starmer?

RogueFemale · 12/10/2023 02:30

I continue to maintain that the way a politician looks has an effect on their popularity, especially in this day and age. I think it's naive to pretend otherwise.

Based on what?

Lots of people here saying it doesn't affect their voting habits

FanFckingTastic · 12/10/2023 16:34

I don't get the 'dishy' comments at all - and his hair reminds me a of a Mister Whippy. Maybe it's just me but I can just imagine him with a choccy flake in it.

Tory Douglas Hurd was the original of course Grin

YABU, with all the crap that is going on with our politics and you decide to focus on a haircut.

Yes, but on MN, everybody apparently votes Labour, and never votes for anyone else, obviously 🙄

However, most people are somewhere in the middle, and flit backwards and forwards. Of those, many rational types look at policies and vote accordingly. There is a rather large set of people in the middle however, who vote on whims, and those people decide elections, and those people base a lot of their decision on looks. Sad, but true.

Crikeyalmighty · 12/10/2023 15:50

@verdantverdure ha, ha- I used to fancy Andy Burnham too and Tristram Hunt .

Yeah...I can see that.

(I had to Google Tristram Hunt Grin)

I prefer authentic people in general tbh.

verdantverdure · 12/10/2023 16:54

There's a thread on here @KnittedCardi called

"Who the F** still thinks voting Tory is a good idea?!"

Some people on there probably vote Tory.

Look for the "I'm a Labour voter but..." type posts Grin

I reckon David Miliband would have swung it more. Superficial reasons included, possibly

It was a sliding doors moment for Labour as someone posted the other day

MrTiddlesTheCat · 12/10/2023 17:13

I've just realised that Keir Starmer and Rishi Sunak have the exact same haircut. Shit, now how am I going to decide who to vote for?

bombastix · 12/10/2023 17:16

@MrTiddlesTheCat - I'm tossing a coin and hope it explodes killing me before I have to make this decision myself

That's a bit extreme. Couldn't you just find out what their favourite biscuits are? I reckon Starmer is a garibaldi man. Sunak probably more macaroons. You can't trust someone who likes macaroons. Or bourbons.

BIossomtoes · 12/10/2023 17:35

This thread’s bonkers. Who the fuck votes based on a haircut?

People who should have gone to specsavers as they can't see Starmer and Sunak have the same haircut. How pissed are they going to be when they realise they've been duped?

bombastix · 12/10/2023 17:40

If you want to make this fair then all political leaders should have a buzz cut. Whoever looks best gets to be grand high Poobah of the UK for the next three and a half minutes, ensuring the kind of leadership this country truly deserves.

MrTiddlesTheCat · 12/10/2023 17:40

Holy crap, it gets worse. The leader of the Libdems has the same. It's not so noticible at first as he has less hair, but it's definitely the same cut.

bombastix · 12/10/2023 17:43

@MrTiddlesTheCat - quite seriously that does not surprise me as the House of Commons has an in house barber and hairdresser.

It is quite likely that many politicians are actually getting their hair cut at the same place. You can even get a refresher blow dry but I don't think Starmer should go for that myself

We've even got whataboutery regarding haircuts in politics, now 🙄 😂

I am not sure "most people are somewhere in the middle, and flit backwards and forwards" is actually true. The outcome of elections is determined by about 50K voters in marginal seats - a lot of places never change, like the PM's seat which has been Tory since 1918. In places like that voting anything other than Tory is utterly pointless.

verdantverdure · 12/10/2023 17:55

I'm not sure that's true anymore @Fightyouforthatpie

A lot of Tory safe seats aren't safe any longer.

On account of the country being trashed and people having eyes.

I always voted for But Jeremy Corbyn, because I think his hair is amazing.
