Boyfriend turning his phone off at night time

When I stay over he's started leaving it in another room turned off? Does this mean he's cheating? He smokes weed and often gets shady characters texting offers! But it's likely a woman isn't it

Or he wants to focus on you when you're staying over?

If your mind immediately jumps to "he must be cheating" you probably shouldn't be in the relationship in the first place.

PunjabiGirl · 11/10/2023 20:58

It's not likely a woman, sometimes people do turn their phones off. If this is all the evidence you have I wouldn't jump to cheating tbh.

Do you trust him?

Offcom · 11/10/2023 20:59

Do you definitely know that he doesn’t do this when you’re not staying? I’m probably naive but my first thought was ooh good sleep hygiene

PunjabiGirl · 11/10/2023 21:00

Would you feel bad if he thought you had another man if you turned your phone off at night?

Aquamarine1029 · 11/10/2023 21:00

He smokes weed and often gets shady characters texting offers!

Is he the best you can get? Get rid of this loser.

Tortugaa · 11/10/2023 21:00

Mine goes into do not disturb mode at night as I don’t want to be disturbed by calls and texts

readbooksdrinktea · 11/10/2023 21:01

Or you know, maybe he wants to spend time with you in his bed? Novel idea.

Don't let my husband hear about this idea 🤣

5128gap · 11/10/2023 21:03

Rule of thumb: People who don't want to be disturbed by their phone leave it in another room. People who don't want to be incriminated by their phone never leave it out of their sight.

readbooksdrinktea · 11/10/2023 21:03

He smokes weed and often gets shady characters texting offers!

But yes, this would be an issue for me.

Would you be moaning, if he had it in the bedroom and on?

Needtoknow89 · 11/10/2023 21:10

It's a new thing. He's depressed at the moment and our sex life has 90% stopped. Earlier he said he couldn't remember who but someone's told him our puppy breed (frenchie and pug) is likely getting banned but can't recall who he's been talking to about our puppy. He has a history of messaging other women especially with his ex. He came off all social media six months ago. I'm just feeling very untrusting. Apart from the fact you shouldn't be with someone you don't trust I'm just looking to see what this could be about..I feel ge either owes money or a woman's on the scene

I have no clue about the phone business but I can tell you he sounds like a total loser.

Turning his phone off is perfectly normal, but seriously this is the best you want?

NotToYou · 11/10/2023 21:16

He has a history of messaging other women, you don't trust him and he smokes weed. Why are you with this loser? Raise your standards.

Aaron95 · 11/10/2023 21:18

Do most people leave their phone on overnight? I don't. I'm going to sleep and don't want to be disturbed. It is switched off and usually put on charge.

"Apart from the fact"? No, that should be the only fact.

ConsuelaHammock · 11/10/2023 21:23

He smokes weed? That would be a deal breaker for me. Do not have children with this man. I’d rather be alone!

Social media is proven to cause depression. Perhaps he’s trying to help himself by getting off social media and the phone is off & in another room so he can avoid the temptation.

Moonbowlspoon · 11/10/2023 21:30

I might be spectacularly thick but why does switching a phone off and leaving it in another room overnight mean he’s cheating?

Its actually something sleep experts recommend - no distractions, no blue light.

CallieQ · 11/10/2023 21:32

Not a good idea to be involved with a weed smoker

Needtoknow89 · 11/10/2023 21:39

He may not want calls and texts flashing up when I'm here

XenoBitch · 11/10/2023 21:44

This is far from a red flag. I would even say it is a green flag. People are too attached to their phones nowadays.
