Judge Engoron is apparently looking into possible perjury by Weisselberg, the Trump ORG CFO. I assume there will be no decision until the issue of this possible perjury has been resolved since it may have bearing on Judge Engoron's decision.

FILE - The Trump Organization's former Chief Financial Officer Allen Weisselberg arrives at a New York courtroom, Nov. 15, 2022. Manhattan prosecutors are weighing a potential perjury charge against Weisselberg, Donald Trump’s former corporate finance...

I’m not surprised by this potential ruling. I listened to a bunch of it this morning and I didn’t get a good vibe that we’d be finally rid of him.

So much for this then, I suppose,.

So, media reports are that SCOTUS is going to side w/Trump on the issue of removing him from ballots.

Oh, FFS. I am horrified to see that these threads have been going since January 2017 and we are still not rid of this treacherous, lying, narcissistic, snollygoster - and what's more, he is STILL being supported by a large swathe of the voting population. What is wrong with the world?

I think we've been here since before 2017. IIRC the first thread was prior to the Nov 2016 election. I figure we've been 'going strong' at least 8 years.

Scary, isn't it? Hitler was 'in power' from 1933 to 1945, 12 years. Although Trump was only technically 'in power' for 4 years, his influence appears to be trying to beat Hitler's record.

Grin Yes, but not quite in the way you meant - I broke my foot a month ago and have been eating my weight in the wrong kind of food whilst unable to move except to occasionally hop (not even skip) to my loo when desperate. I've just been told I've got another fortnight of this, so it'll be at least 25 kilos by the time I'm walking properly again!

Oh, yes, there were definitely a large number of Trump threads in 2016, but I think that these particular, more cohesive, numbered ones on AIBU, which were filled by horrified people, as opposed to by crowing Trump supporters, began in the run up to the inauguration ceremony in January 2017. Still an awfully long time to be running, either way. I genuinely thought he would have to have been impeached and sent to prison during his Presidential term, my ghast is still well and truly flabbered that we (well, you all, anyway) are still crazy here after all these years.
I suppose nowadays, Trump's influence is comparatively much further reaching than Hitler's was.

Oh good lord! Poor you!

Have some calorie-free virtual Cake. Must keep morale up!

Jaichangecentfoisdenom · 09/02/2024 14:23

@PerkingFaintly - Virtual Cake much appreciated. I decide this morning to cut the wine and desserts out from today! Not helped as I haven't been able to weigh myself since I fell so have no idea how much I have actually gained!
Sorry for the thread divergence. Back to the point (-ish). I recently saw the question: "If you were told you had 24 hours to live, how would you spend the time before you died?" My immediate instinctive reaction was: "Kill Trump and his supporters. With a legal firearm, of course."

Moira Donegan has an interesting take on the Colorado / SC hearing, in the US section of the Guardian. I have trouble linking on the phone.

PerkingFaintly · 09/02/2024 18:57

It's always the problem. They'd be bringing us down to their level.

SinnerBoy · 09/02/2024 19:06

Thanks, I'm on my laptop now, but you've save me the bother!

Just FTOAD:

Remember there are serious UK politicians - and Liz Truss - queueing up to suck Trumps cock.

But Jeremy Corbyn ...

DuncinToffee · 11/02/2024 10:36

Yes, amongst others, 2 former UK Prime Ministers, Truss and Johnson, are endorsing Trump

SequentialAnalyst · 11/02/2024 12:55

Quote from today's Observer/Guardian

'On Saturday, Trump claimed that during an unspecified Nato meeting he told a fellow head of state that the US under his leadership would not defend any countries who were “delinquent”.

“One of the presidents of a big country stood up and said, ‘Well, sir, if we don’t pay, and we’re attacked by Russia, will you protect us?’” Trump said, adding “I said, ‘You didn’t pay, you’re delinquent?’”

“No, I would not protect you. In fact, I would encourage them to do whatever the hell they want. You got to pay. You got to pay your bills.”'

Bolding added by me.

PerkingFaintly · 11/02/2024 13:14

I know. There isn't an eyeroll large enough...

“One of the presidents of a big country stood up and said, ‘Well, sir, if we don’t pay, and we’re attacked by Russia, will you protect us?’” Trump said,

Oh, then we know it's a lie. Why would the president of another country address Trump as "sir"? But the invented people in his self-aggrandising myths always do.

Sometimes they sob as well.

SerendipityJane · 11/02/2024 14:47

At least it's raising headlines outside the US. And it does start to put pressure on some would be backers in the UK.

Poor Farage. Still can't quite know if he should stay or go.
