Would you pick up a new car on Friday 13th

New family cars finally ready. Proposed date Friday 13th 😱

Am I being silly here delaying the pick up?

What actually happens on the day you pick up the car. Will it be registered 9n that date etc and will that put off other people if you saw Friday 13th on the V5 docs when we resale?

TIA

Goodgrief83 · 03/10/2023 18:00

Newcar123 · 03/10/2023 18:00

Of course I would. I wouldn’t give it a second thought.

pacificoceanwhale · 03/10/2023 18:01

Can you wait until Saturday morning??

BadBadDecisions · 03/10/2023 18:02

Of course 🙄

Sparklesocks · 03/10/2023 18:02

Yes I’m not superstitious at all

Newcar123 · 03/10/2023 18:02

Was offered, We are going away at the weekend so would be good to have the new car but I just don’t like the date.

Asked for earlier and they can’t so it’s Monday

I heard once that in parts of China they’re superstitious about Tuesday 17th. By that logic every day must be cursed.

Have you asked when it will be registered if that's an issue for you? No point moving til Monday and it's still registered on the bloody Friday!

I used to sell lease cars and they were typically registered on day of delivery.

When was the last time something bad actually happened to you on a Friday 13th?

I actually can't say what I would do. I think I wouldn't be arsed but I am superstitious as fuck.

MouseMattress · 03/10/2023 18:06

Superstition is madness.

TrailingLoellia · 03/10/2023 18:07

It’s Christian superstition too. 13 was a sacred number to the pagan Celts.
13 lunar cycles in a year.

Pix56 · 03/10/2023 18:10

No, but only because I'm working that day.

ShutTheFrontDoor · 03/10/2023 18:11

Really? Wow. I wouldn’t be that pathetic to give it a second thought.

But thoughtless enough to call someone “pathetic” who would!

Scutterbug · 03/10/2023 18:15

Wouldn’t think twice!

SharonEllis · 03/10/2023 18:16

Of course.

NoraLuka · 03/10/2023 18:16

I’d like to say yeah no problem I’d just get the car but in reality…

I read somewhere the superstition comes from the Knights Templar who were executed by a king (French? Possibly) on Friday 13th in the 11th century or sometime around then. If that’s so there’s no logical reason for it to affect us now, unless there’s a curse or something!

Riapia · 03/10/2023 18:16

It’s very unlucky to be superstitious. 😉

Skyblue92 · 03/10/2023 18:22

Personally wouldn’t care but then again it’s my daughters 5th birthday and I’m not superstitious in that way

Libertass · 03/10/2023 18:31

Yes. Because I’m not an idiot.

Sirzy · 03/10/2023 18:31

I gave birth on Friday 13th so would have no qualms about picking up a car!

Goodgrief83 · 03/10/2023 18:32

Perhaps not an “idiot” but you’re something else, that’s for sure! 😂

yogasaurus · 03/10/2023 18:32

Yes, wouldn’t even occur to me.

I dont believe in anything though.

Cas112 · 03/10/2023 18:36
