To ask how on earth you poo with a menstrual cup

Without it being pushed out into the loo???

I swear I’m not the poo troll, I predate Penis Beaker.

I am on holidays and due to an absolute cracker of a brain fart totally forgot to bring my period kit with me.

I went to the pharmacy and bought a Mooncup. Whilst it was boiling I read the instructions and it said that you didn’t need to remove it to pee or poo.

I always remove it before I poo because the same muscles used to poo are the ones that also contract the vagina. Anyone who has given birth vaginally will have been told to “push like you’re trying to poo”.

I am genuinely perplexed. Have I not been pooing correctly my entire life? I tried to poo with it in but had to literally hold it in place!

YABU - You just can’t poo properly
YANBU - I take mine out to poo

It shouldn’t come out. Mine’s tricky to get out- no chance of it coming out by accident.

flipent · 05/09/2023 15:42

If you're trying that hard, add more fiber!

But no, I have never had to remove my moon cup, you have to release the suction effect before removal - so you should not be able to 'push' a moon cup out. If you are pushing that hard you are likely to cause yourself harm.

StanleyGoodspeed · 05/09/2023 15:43

is it not the same as a tampon? I used to poo with one in back in the day, there were no such things as Mooncups when I was young😁

honeyrain · 05/09/2023 15:44

Do you normally wear tampons? Do you remove them upon each poo?! They don't move either in the same way a cup won't.

dankfarrik · 05/09/2023 15:45

You just do it? It won't fall out 😂

FeatherBlack · 05/09/2023 15:46

It doesn't come out.

Although tbh, I sometimes do remove it as it makes the process easier. (Tmi, feels like there's more space to push the poo out if its not in the way iykwim)

OhWifey · 05/09/2023 15:46

I have to remove mine and (tmi) going for a poo is hardly any effort. I'm surprised to see the responses that people leave theirs in.
Perhaps it depends on the extent of birth injury / prolapse, as mine are both significant.

Theredfoxfliesatmidnight · 05/09/2023 15:46

I can't poo with a tampon in, it pushes it out!! (Or pushes it down to the vaginal entrance so it's too uncomfortable to keep in)

Am I pooing wrong too???

PurpleChrayne · 05/09/2023 15:46

I've always just pooed with it in. Last thing I want is bloody fingers when I'm a'crapping.

Outdamnspot23 · 05/09/2023 15:46

OP I get you. I think the first period I used it I thought the same thing but you do get used to using them. If it slips down a bit when you poo then just wash your hands after and push it back in to the right height. It doesn’t get pushed out completely.

SomeoneKeepsMovingMyChair · 05/09/2023 15:48

I always poo with my mooncup in, it's never been an issue. I don't think it's ever been pushed out

GingerAndTheBiscuits · 05/09/2023 15:48

I’d have to be baring down pretty hard to shift mine so I’m in the “leave it in” camp. On rare occasions I use tampons I do find they can get pushed out though! One of the many reasons I am evangelical about a mooncup!

Cazzovuoi · 05/09/2023 15:49

Maybe it is just fear!!

I shall try pooping with it in and if it lands in the loo I’m sending you lot the invoice.

Cazzovuoi · 05/09/2023 15:49

No never used tampons in my life!

SidandAndyssextoy · 05/09/2023 15:50

I hold mine in when I poo but it’s because I’ve got a rectocele, so things are all awry anyway.

It won't
I promise

BlueBlubbaWhale · 05/09/2023 15:52

You will be fine op I promise it won't pop out! Although sometimes I find it easier to poo when it's not in, but maybe that's just me!

Snittle · 05/09/2023 15:53

I’ve never had a problem, but it can take some manoeuvring to get out so it’d be hard to push out.

But I do take tampons out when pooing, I don’t like the idea of the string being so close to faeces and then hanging around in my pants for any length of time.

Oysterbabe · 05/09/2023 15:54

I don't know what to tell you. Mine doesn't come out. Are you certain you've put it in the right hole?

itsmyp4rty · 05/09/2023 15:54

Yes have always left mine in too.

Cazzovuoi · 05/09/2023 15:58

@Oysterbabe I’ll check and report back 😂

🤣🤣🤣 thank you for that laugh I needed it!

Theredfoxfliesatmidnight · 05/09/2023 15:59

YANBU is catching up with YABU in the poll

IamnotSethRogan · 05/09/2023 15:59

Maybe you're over thinking it ? I've used a moon cup for almost 2 decades and I can't say I've had this issue!

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 05/09/2023 16:00

My cup sits quite high up, so doesn't really budge much. Surely if its coming out when you are pooping, it's also likely to come out when coughing or sneezing or whatever too?
