To ask how on earth you poo with a menstrual cup

Without it being pushed out into the loo???

I swear I’m not the poo troll, I predate Penis Beaker.

I am on holidays and due to an absolute cracker of a brain fart totally forgot to bring my period kit with me.

I went to the pharmacy and bought a Mooncup. Whilst it was boiling I read the instructions and it said that you didn’t need to remove it to pee or poo.

I always remove it before I poo because the same muscles used to poo are the ones that also contract the vagina. Anyone who has given birth vaginally will have been told to “push like you’re trying to poo”.

I am genuinely perplexed. Have I not been pooing correctly my entire life? I tried to poo with it in but had to literally hold it in place!

YABU - You just can’t poo properly
YANBU - I take mine out to poo

I can't poo with a tampon in, it pushes it out!! (Or pushes it down to the vaginal entrance so it's too uncomfortable to keep in)

Am I pooing wrong too???

Me too. I never used to have a problem pre-kids, but since having children I have to change my tampon when I’m pooing.

StinkyWizzleteets · 05/09/2023 19:31

I’m surprised people poo with a tampon in. The string could have fecal contact, pick up bum bacteria and cause the mother of all UTIs

Or am I the only one that has to go looking for the string because it doesn’t just dangle
down in the opposite direction from my anus?

paranoidmumdroid1 · 05/09/2023 19:33

I take mine out to poo. I have once squeezed it out into the loo by accident and also i find it compromises the poo's exit if i leave it in.
But that is post 3rd DC who was a mighty 11.5 lbs / 5.3kg and a natural labour with no tearing 😟 so my mooncup is no longer as snug as before he arrived .......

Cookerhood · 05/09/2023 19:34

OP please explain the electric fanny chair.

Athlebad · 05/09/2023 19:34

So many people promising you that it won't come out?! I think it definitely could come out, mine often moves downwards and I sometimes end up having to hold it in....

blobby10 · 05/09/2023 19:38

I don’t remove mine either but haven’t given birth vaginally- maybe that makes a difference? Never pushed it out with my pooing muscles but it’s easy enough to take out of you want whilst pooing!

good luck with the mooncup- they changed my life for the better and I wish they had been around when I was on my teens and 20s

StanleyGoodspeed · 06/09/2023 07:55

I am only here to find out about the electric fanny chair

asking for a friend😬

Merseymum992 · 06/09/2023 08:06

Mine used to come out when I poo so I remove it now!

LookingForPurpose · 06/09/2023 11:30

What in the gibberibg vaginas is an ELECTRICIAN FANNY CHAIR 😱

StanleyGoodspeed · 06/09/2023 11:36

I am having a horrible vision of some kind of chair that you sit in and your "bits" are connected to the electric supply😅

Sugarcoatt · 06/09/2023 11:42

I have to take it out. The cup takes up internal space and prevents hard turds descending. So unless your poo is very soft you need to remove it.

AllyCart · 06/09/2023 11:49

What a thread. 😳 So many questions (for various friends, of course!)...

Someone said fibre bungs them up? Surely that's just insufficient water in the diet then, since fibre absorbs water?

And the electric fanny chair??!! 😱

Surely the string could pick up bum bacteria at any time or do you have a special anus that can be folded away when it's not needed? That wouldn't be such a bad idea as when you fart you release small amounts of faeces which could journey along your pants and enter your urethra. Do you have a special fart valve or do you remove your trousers and underwear to fart openly each time?

Why is pooing such an effort? Get some All Bran down you.

If only it were that simple for everyone.

Planesmistakenforstars · 06/09/2023 14:00

I can't get on with a mooncup, it feels really uncomfortable. But I need to remove tampons to poo, there's not enough room for both.

More importantly I swear I’m not the poo troll, I predate Penis Beaker is my favourite MN sentence for a while.

Just think, that will be the first time in the history of mankind those words have ever been typed together! 😂

Cardboardcup · 06/09/2023 16:41

Never used a moon up and periods are long gone but my tampon definitely used to move and sometimes come out.

daffodilandtulip · 06/09/2023 18:15

I don't strain to poo but it does push it down into an uncomfortable position so I prefer to remove it before I go. But my pelvic floor is a bit shit after a couple of babies so maybe that's the difference?

Cazzovuoi · 08/09/2023 06:15

Sorry for not updating, we travelled home yesterday.

Ok so, to answer alllll of the questions about the fanny electric chair…. It’s used to strengthen pelvic floor muscles and aid urinary incontinence. See here https://springwellclinic.co.uk/treatments/emsella-incontinence-chair/

I also forgot to update about the poo 😂

Yesterday I tried. I kept a hold of it just in case and whilst I was able to poo (no straining I promise) it did come close to the edge 😁 I guess I can try again but for now I think I’ll take it out to poo.

The pooey string. Which you then pull out with your fingers. Plus the risk of cross contamination from bum to vag while you are wiping with the string hanging out.

Just a lot cleaner to take it out first!

What? No. You move the string out of the way…?

This. Although only since turning 40+ did this happen.

Maddy70 · 08/09/2023 07:21

I take mine out. It does come out otherwise
